- large room - kept clean - once got a chance to talk to staff, they were friendly and helpful (but not over the top/above-and-beyond)
- some aspects of check in process felt robotic - location in an area with a large amount of homeless people so not the best place to stay if travelling alone (and female)
The breakfast and "happy hour" were both good. I can't really think of anything else.
My original room had the distinct stench of smoke. The bed looked as if it had uneven rolls and really was not that comfortable. The overall appearance of the room was completely lacking in a clean and "comfortable" appearance. The location has degenerated into a somewhat "seedy" location. This facility is badly in need of a complete renovation. I will not be staying there again.
Close walk to beach and restaurants
Dining area needs to be updated. The furniture and TV is old
Room size, location.
Crowded at breakfast, only one toaster that was not working on both days. Layout of breakfast service should be improved. Wi fi was annoying since it was dropping frequently.
Location Free parking
Facility was old and needed maintanace and serious updating. The room did not have blackout shades, and the neighboring residence and business could look right into our room. The ac unit was super loud which did stifle the train noise. The bathroom was old and shower looked gross. For the price per night was not worth it. Room was way over priced. I've stayed at much nicer Motel 6 for way less. I think this property needs to be gutted and rebuilt. Very disappointed in the quality of the property!
Not a nice location. Backs up to highway/ train tracks. Not clean. Pool/jacuzzi dingy water, highway noise.
I enjoyed the morning breakfast buffet, the workers were very polite & overall once you walk in you feel at ease.
There was nothing to dislike.
The lobby smelled, I did not like the beds or blankets. The front desk looks very outdated and workers should dress professional .
The room was beautiful, very comfortable, clean and spacious and the air conditioning worked very well.
The elevator was terrible, really needs an upgrade. Seems like the hallways are not air conditioned, which makes it very uncomfortable in the summer. Please add something to the breakfast buffet for those of us watching our blood sugar -- whole grain breads and cereals please. Also, the staff was not terribly helpful in the breakfast room.
Free breakfast and snacks was a great addition to a wonderful stay. Rooms were clean.
Issues with toilet not flushing properly. Plumbing in bathroom could use new fixtures.
Breakfast in the morning. Access & closeness to beach. Prices were competitive & affordable. Room was big & spacious.
- when we got to our room, there were noticeable yellow stains & loose long, black hairs on the sheets - obviously not clean or changed. We called front desk for a clean set, they sent us a twin sized cot. We had to call again to get cot removed & clean sheets - took an extra 30 mins to have room ready after arriving. - It states in online info & in info in booklet in room that towels are provided @ the pool; don't bring room towels. We go to the pool in the evening - my husband, myself & my young son. We get out & there are NO towels in area - we had to walk sopping wet thru the hotel (on the carpets & hard floors) to the front desk to ask for towels, as new guests were coming & going. Very embarrassing, cold & unnecessary. - We paid for a 2nd night. We arrive at our room @ 2:00pm (my son's nap time) assuming I has been cleaned & restocked from the sight of it. I take a shower to find NO towels, wash cloths or hand towels in our room. It took the maid 35 minutes to bring us towels from her cart down the aisle after we called front desk. - These were all situations that could have been avoided. Not comfortable or accommodating.
Location. Cleanliness. Complimentary breakfast.
Great staff, Breakfast was great lots of food and very helpful staff, wifi speeds are great, room was huge!
Vending not clearly marked, not on every floor.
Remodel was very nice and free breakfast was an added benefit.
Elevators were not remodeled and surrounding area was not very nice.
The location is close to the beach and the beautiful downtown area. We were able to walk everywhere from the hotel. The breakfast offerings were great, and the staff was very accommodating.
Staff were very nice.
The place needs some upgrading.
Service, clean room, comfortable bed, very good location, right next to the highway but without traffic noise.
Wifi is fast, but somehow doesn't work with the desktop PC that I brought in (I stayed for a whole week).
Near the free way If you take the side that does not look at the freeway you miss the view but you don't hear the road at all. Location is good. Good breakfast with lots of choice and tasty. Big lobby with TV for breakfast. Good price.
If you do get stuck in a room facing the freeway.. There is also a train going near the hotel so - DONT FACE THE FREEWAY.
Happy Hour Mexican Restaurant on the Pier Nice Guests Huge Rooms
Location for 1 night stay OK
Very nice hotel. Happy hour with snacks and beer/wine and full continental breakfast were included. Great location to downtown and pier.
The hotel is very close to the highway and train track, so be sure to ask for a room on the other side of the building. The WIFI wasn't very good.
Large rooms and comfortable beds. Good parking available. Nice staff. Hot breakfast.
Worn rugs...hot water faucet not working. Needs an update. Very loud traffic out by pool.
Quiet and comfortable beds.
Could not get into the room with our key. It happen twice.
Perfect place to stay with children ! Great value for your money my grandchildren played in the pool the 1st day and we headed to the beach the next day which is very close the our hotel .Great breakfast served !!!!
Can't really think of anything
Well, since Carlson over booked and gave my room to someone else, I would have to 'Nothing'.
Nothing will ruin your day more than being told that your hotel room has been given away because you did not answer your phone. I'm standing in the lobby of the Carlson, amongst a few guests, being told by a hotel clerk, Leslie, 'well, since you didn't answer your phone I didn't hold your room'. When I told her I had no missed calls and also that I even had tried to call, but was put on hold, twice, all she said was 'Sorry'. Then she proceeded to sell me a suite for nearly double the cost. I asked to speak to a manager and I told there was none on duty. Leslie pointed at a card and told me I could call and leave a message and a manager would call me back on Monday. It was Saturday night, I'm 150 miles from home, tired, and in a town of sold out hotels and motels due to the event we were attending. Leslie at this point was no longer even giving me the respect of eye contact; I was being dismissed in front of a group of people I didn't know. My suggestion to you would be to steer clear of Country Inn & Suites in Ventura.
Very cozy. Rooms were clean and breakfast was awesome! great value for your money
