The quiet country setting and the nostalgia of a simpler time.
I have no complaints.
My family enjoyed the Atmosphere of the facility. My kids enjoyed the petting and feeding the animals, swings, and looking for fireflies with jar provided. We ended our evening with a campfire to roast marshmallows and relax. Before bed, we played some board games that were available in our cottage . It was an enjoyable stay .
We have kids ages 2, 5, and 8. I loved that there was so much for them to do on the property. We didn't have to have our days full of "activities" and always be going. My husband and I could relax while the kids played tether ball or visited all of the animals at the petting coral. SUCH a better choice than a hotel.
It would have been nice to have met and chatted with the facilities owner the first day we were there. When we did meet (on our second/last day) he talked to us about the animals, their background and everything. This would have put my mind more at ease the rest of the trip (just having the knowledge) as the kids interacted with them.
Our family truly enjoyed the animals! There was feed available (at no cost) for the children to feed the goats, horses, donkey, and rabbits. There was also a turkey who followed us around everywhere! The breakfast on Saturday at the Barn was set up so well. There were crafts for the kids and the horses came right up to the barn window so the kids could pet them. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The Country Woods Inn was very charming and full of character. The cabin we stayed in was very quaint. It was definitely set up for families. There were family friendly movies and games to play.
The cabin we stayed in (The cabin in the woods) had a cat (very friendly) but she woke our kids up repeatedly during the night wanting to cuddle. The cabin also smelled unpleasant. There was water leaking at the front entry from an unknown source and ants (as well as a myriad of other bugs) in the bathroom sink and tub.
We had a great family weekend, loved our cabin and the property.
It was a very beautiful site and very secluded and quiet.
We were not told the room had 2 double beds. The shower needs to be updated as when you stepped into the tub, your head hit the ceiling. The windows needed more substantial coverings, especially the front door. I had to use a towel to cover up the window because the light from the light post shone right into my eyes. Also, I had to give out my credit card information and address to booking.com and to the owner of the establishment. I don't like giving this information out on a regular basis, so it was a little unnerving
It was cozy, heat was on when we arrived (which was great since it was quite cold). Accommodations were comfortable, loved all the card games and chess set. Grounds were well maintained and kids loved the animals, swings, basketball court.
