The Courtyard by Marriott referred me to a car service called TJ's. Called them to preschedule my shuttle and had it all squared away. They asked me my flight # and said they'd follow it in case it was late. We had a much longer layover than anticipated, so I arrived late into town. When I arrive at 10:05, I call TJ's as requested to come pick me up and they said they close at 10. All the drivers had gone home and there was nothing they could do. Harumph. I go ask airport security what my options are and they mention Go Shuttle. Wait for my bags for 30 minutes, then go out to get the Go Shuttle (around $18 per person to take you to hotel area). Once I get to the Go Shuttle guy who wasn't too friendly, he said it'd be at least another 1/2 hour wait before they came to pick me up. I decided to get a cab. It cost $20 more, but I was so tired of waiting and wanted to go to bed.
Arrived at the Marriott late after a long day of travel and was so ready to go to bed. My credit card had some sort of difficulty with the magnetic strip, so we had to deal with that for a while and get my husband to sign some form to pay for it with his card. We got all that squared away, but I think it took him off his game. He didn't mention the wi-fi code and forgot to give me any info about the hotel. Went upstairs and went to bed. Came down for breakfast in the AM and had missed breakfast. (Jet lagged, gained an hour travelling and we lost an hour due to daylight savings time so I wasn't sure which way was up as far as time went.)
Accommodations were nice and clean. We had a room with a downstairs patio which had furniture so we could sit outside and enjoy the courtyard, trees, rain, coffee, etc. Most of the rooms have balconies and don't have furniture out on them. Just a heads up depending on what you prefer.
They have a free shuttle service within 3 miles of the hotel that they don't seem to advertise much. Nixon, the shuttle driver, took me over to the Boardwalk/beach area and was a nice conversationalist. Great little family type area with shops, restaurants, a pier, and the beach. Hung out there and had a fun time. The shuttle runs into the evening and they picked me up pretty quickly after I called.
The Marriott cafe people were very nice and helped in any way they could. The night manager the next night was super friendly and helpful. I couldn't find anything on their menu I wanted, so they gave me all these menus from local places that deliver. Very thoughtful.
Went out and tried to get in the pool (mid-March) and it was still a little chilly for me. I did sit in the hot tub for a while and it was really nice. They have about a 4' masonry wall going around the property, so it helps shield the city view out some. The palms sway in the wind and the lounge chairs are comfy. The grounds around the pool are very tropical and pleasant. You're next to a Denny's and CVS and you will be able to see those from common areas.
The bed was super comfy. My son wasn't wild about the pull out sofa. We had plenty of room. The back door was a sliding glass door and they had black out blinds against the whole door. Kept the room nice and dark. We had another place booked and it was double booked for the weekend, so we just stayed here until the house was ready. It was a fine place to chill out for a couple of days.
The Marriott allowed us to check out a little late, bill was accurate.
