Staff was exceptional. We really enjoyed our afternoon conversations with Steve, the owner. Our room was wonderful. It was large and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large with a claw foot tub and a shower. We had a private porch that was fun to sit out at the end of the night. The location was great and it was quiet, with free parking. It was in a regular neighborhood and just a great quirky feel. The breakfast was really good. We just can't wait to go back.
Wifi was too weak in our room. We were able to access it from the downstairs, dining room area though.
Comfortable bed, good breakfast, friendly staff, charming courtyard. A very quiet location.
The exterior of the facility needs painting--we were apprehensive, initially. But the rooms are very clean and well maintained.
Location, Breakfast, quiet rooms in a busy city.
Courtyard was not usable to us due to this being the smoking area for the Inn. Maybe the smoking area could be more contained so other non smokers could use the courtyard
unsafe location noisy wall units not updated
Was perfect . The breakfast was good . A different variety every am . Very close to trolley . The antique furniture I loved and the bed slept great .
It would be nice to have a few bottles waters in frig so u don't have to walk too far for it . Maybe a Bloody Mary or Mimosa cash bar with breakfast .
Very reasonably priced. Bed was comfortable. Well situated.
Sparse accommodations for the business traveler. No work desk in room. Water never warmed in the sink. Cracked tile inteh bathroom. Poor TV reception
Christina was very helpful organised all our tours
Nice neighborhood/location away from the hussle and bussle, yet close enough for a nice 15mins walk to the French Quarter, or 7 - 10mins ride on the streetcar. The staff were great, and the property has great personality.
Didn't find anything wrong
The location and the patio. Colors and deco. Loved the friendly staff
the stairs (I have bad knees)
Location Full Breakfast Wi-Fi
Location was prime and ambiance was something else. Not in the French Quarter with all the crowding but out in the Garden District with great restaurants and easy access to all other areas of town. Would go back in a minute. Great breakfasts and times to mingle with other guests.
Could work on AC some as humidity made sleep sometimes rough.
Like the fact that it was not in the French Quarter. That got me out exploring other parts of New Orleans, which I loved.
This place was awesome! The staff was so friendly. You get a home cooked breakfast, by the most lovely lady. The environment is colorful, cozy, really nice. I would recommend this place to everyone.
No bad comments. It was close to the trolley and can get you to Bourbon street in no time!
The guesthouse is beautiful, an old and colorful house. The rooms are nice and cozy, the staff is excellent, there's lemonade in the afternoon and some snacks, breakfast is wonderful and some Friday nights the cook turns into resident dj on the premises! Best hotel of our road trip.
The tub wasn't draining properly but they fixed it right away.
Comfortable mattresses! Bright lights!
"Amazing", "awesome", these are words we found in the guestbook; and, most often, "sweet." "Sweet" fits - from the outside of that old, small antebellum house. Inside, however: Sloppily furnished: No place for clothes or anything else except a tiny closet (the tiny table is for the TV set), no place for the suitcases; we wondered how four people could really stay in there. Plus the staff doesn't really care: No map available - go and buy one! Only two coathangers? - sorry; or ok, we'll get one from another room. In four days the room got cleaned only once. Not that the staff aren't friendly, no, they are, they are just untrained. The owner doesn't care, it seems, why, because the house is so "sweet," and he can live off that well enough. An "economic" breakfast, every day the same, sometimes there are no more plates, or bowls, what the heck. A quaint old building with the ambience of 19th century NOLA - that's "sweet." Sloppiness isn't.
This hotel is in a wonderful very old New Orleans mansion. The staff is super. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Comfortable bed. Good WIFI. The breakfast has a selection of cold items and hot special of the day. It is just a block away from the St. Charles trolley. There is a very good BBQ place right at the trolley stop, too.
That I had to leave so soon.
The inn was close enough to the city for a short cab ride, but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. The claw foot tubs were very nice. Breakfast was also very good - continental and hot.
Our neighbor had a dog that barked for a while, despite the hotel's notice to not leave barking dogs alone.
From the first look this bed and breakfast looks like it might not be anything special but it's location and staff really make the stay memorable. They serve a really good breakfast. The rooms we stayed in were named after women in New Orleans. There is an amazing little coffee shop less then a block away and a trolly that takes you from the garden district right to the front steps of Bourbon St for a $1.25 one way or $3.00 for a day pass. Also if you enjoy vegan food there is a great restaurant that is across the street that will blow you away, talk about an affordable jem. Also the AC is amazing in the rooms.
The room was a little muggy but the AC fixed that.
The staff is very approachable, very helpful and professional. Breakfast was cooked with pride, was authentic (grits and eggs etc.) and delicious. Overall Creole Gardens has a warm inviting feeling in a great neighborhood very close to the St. Charles street car line and some good eateries.
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel this is not the place for you. It's like staying with the creative side of your family not the side of your family with OCD.
Fabulous location. A short street car ride away from Bourbon street and all the activity. In the other direction, a short ride away from the beautiful houses of the Garden District.
The room had dust bunnies. Not thorougly cleaned. Only towels changed and not the bed sheets.
I liked the location since it's close to St. Charles Street Car, great restaurants, super comfy bed, history of Guesthouse is excellent, Miss Annie and Barbara treat you like family, Keith is helpful with ideas of fun things to do that are off the beaten path, breakfast can not be beat from Miss Annie and Barbara. You feel like family. Wonderful staff!
A few items needed maintaining like floor boards which could have been a tripping hazard in our room.
Creole has a relaxed vibe. A 2 minute walk to trams and only a short ride that will take you to both the Garden district and Jackson Square ends They had the best breakfast in New Orleans
The exterior was a little run down and our front door lock would jam when we tried to enter but it definitely added to the character and personality of the place
When I first arrived I was a little surprised.....didn't know what to expect. I walked into office and staff was wonderful! I was shown around and every need was layed out for me. Everything was so clean and comfortable. My room was absolutely charming. Breakfast was delicious! Miss Annie and her staff were amazing in dining room. I met people from all parts of U.S. and Canada. This experience cannot be found at big fancy impersonal hotels. Being a native I have stayed all over New Orleans and have never felt more at home. I now live on the North Shore and came in to volunteer for Color Run and get some R&R. My niece met me there and we made a promise that we would be back! 1 block from Streetcar and walking distance to any type of dining. Can't wait to come back!
Cannot say there was one single thing I did not like.
Our room was comfortable and pleasant, with an excellent bed and good air conditioning. The courtyard gives a charming atmosphere. The breakfasts were very good and served with individual attention. If you like the bigger, fancier hotels, this place isn't for you... but if you like smaller, more charming bed and breakfasts, I highly recommend Creole Gardens.
