The location. There was a loud noise from the room above, I called the front desk to report it and never heard the noise again. Liked the microwave and fridge in the room, is like a tiny kitchen.
Needs upgrade, looks like an 80´s hotel. No toilet amenities at all.
It was terrible!! Black mold in bathroom (we have photos), wallpaper peeling off the wall, rude staff that had difficulty communicating, broken cabinet
Well maintained grounds. Very clean room. Good restaurant and bar on property. Housekeeping was great with our room.
I really want to like this hotel. It's got everything going for it. Location, and amenities. But the rock hard bed and scratchy, possibly over starched sheets. And, the room next to us put room service trays out on the floor before we arrived and they remained there until the morning of our check out.
The food was over priced and over rated we were told our room included breakfast and it didn't
The desk staff were very courteous and kind and very professional.
Trees and the water fall
Far to get to room with no assistance from staff; wish there were more dining options--only one open at a time, usually the bar
Sushi and happy hour, 2 sinks in the bathroom, pool.
Furniture was a little old/dated, room was musty.
Love the tropical feel and the breakfast was great
I really thought I was at the wrong place at first. I thought it would be a newer nicer place, based on the pictures. It was really just a old Hawiian themed hotel, with new name. Was very dated.
The rooms were very clean. Staff was very friendly and very helpful.
Didn't like I had to pay for parking or sign up to get free wi-fi. That should already come with the price you already pay. Which is not cheap.
Everything, check in and the staff were fantastic, courteous. The grounds and hotel were FANASTIC it was like being in the islands. The amenities were top notch, the food and drink were great. The shuttle service to different parts of SanDiego wad great. We will be recommending Crowne Plaza to friends, and we will be back in the future
That our stay was so short
It wasn't even close to being a four star hotel. I was put in a room next to their public laundry mat and snack machine. It was dirty and the hotel is next to a Motel 6. I booked this hotel because I've stayed at Crowne Plaza hotels in other cities and I was shocked at how trashy this, one was. I will never stay there again!
The best thing this hotel has going for it is the location. It's close to about everything San Diego has to offer.
Other than location, this hotel is old and old-fashioned. There's a charge for every little thing here, including WiFi. We booked over a month ahead of time, saying we had two children, ages 6 and 8, and were given a room with one bed--nothing else available as they were full. Offered sheets and an armchair with an ottoman--no ottoman available. Finally they brought in two roll-away beds (told at check-in that none were available but we were persistent) which solved the sleeping issue but not the space issue! One small room (we booked an executive suite) with 3 beds crammed side by side. Told if we had complaints to contact booking.com with them. Charged $40/night on our credit card for possible incidentals. Given a room next to the parking lot rather than poolside AND parking is NOT free as advertised. It's a lot with a gate and card pass you pay for. Had there been any alternative we would have left but it was Labor Day weekend. This was an expensive room and I've had better at the cheapest chains.
Issues with our wifi the first night but resolved
The location we very convenient for trips to anywhere in San Diego. Front desk girl was able to change out room location to a room with a view overlooking tomhe pool. Although the room was a queen double when we previously requested a King. The room was very spacious though and the bed sizes were sufficient.
The Room- Spacious and nice. Seemed clean except for the wad of hair sitting on top of the trash bin! Also a huge complaint about the bathroom. When you turn on the light there is a fan that comes on at the same time. The fan sounds like a big 747 taking off. You can hear it all the way to the balcony with the door closed. The Bar- The evening of our arrival we went to the bar to have some late dinner and drinks. We sat at a table and wait staff passed us numerous times without even acknowledging us. When I finally was able to flag someone he said (in broken English/Spanish) "I'm not a wait staff." I finally flagged down a wait staff and all he did was tapped my table and walked away. I flagged him down again and he said I'm not your waiter he's at the bar. He'll be over in a minute. When he finally came over he was actually very nice. The restaurant - The next morning we decided to go to The Islands restaurant for the breakfast buffet. Big mistake! We waited at the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 5 min before being even acknowledged. Then the busboy called to us from a distance sit anywhere. So we sat at a table near the window. And sat, and sat, and sat... We waited for a good 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. This is while other patrons arrived and were seated with menus and asked if they would like the breakfast buffet. We ended up walking out. Not before taking a look at the breakfast buffet spread though. Stale overheated Eggs Benedict looking thing, overripe fruit and nothing much else to mention on the buffet. We made complaints to the front desk manager (supervisor) about the two incidents. She apologized and said they would let the restaurant manager know. While the restaurant was a horrible experience the rest of our stay was good.
The hotel was very nice and clean. The room was very comfy. Great location close to everything.
I love location and the rooms where clean. The staff was very nice. I slept very comfortable. I will be back
It needs some renovation where fountains are, it looks green.Maybe converting it into a Zen area where people can hang out at the tables by the canoe fountain area to have amazing Kona coffee. I was looking up the huge chandelier by front desk when I was checking in and noticed it looked like it had not been cleaned in years. I guess coming from Vegas and parents being in the hospitality field hotel appearance is 1st impression. I guess those little details are somewhat important.
Bed is comfy
Front desk staff . They need to smile and greet customers . They look like a robot/ machines . No emotions at all. No fridge in my room .
I did not like the fact that they didn't have the offer of free breakfast like other hotels.
Spent two days with my family and we have a great time but we consider this hotel stock in the 80s. Cheap TV. A/C to noise. Forniture might have been a good idea in the 70s. Carpet requires inmediate change.
The hallways and elevators were very dirty. I think they should be sipped down and cleaned more often
I loved the lounge and bar, also the front desk staff was super friendly! Our room was cleaned to perfection and the bed was super confy
The elevators were pretty slow.
The staff is super friendly and always willing to help.
If anyone got complaints about this place they lie. I am stayng at a property in Anaheim as I type this and wish it was Crowne Plaza San Diego. The spanish people who work there are warm and loving they care and make it personal. Here in Anaheim there is no love what so ever
facility was good overall.
no refrigerator or microwave in room.
