How close the airport was and the shuttle.
The rooms were small and the front desk staff was rude and full of themselves.
The valet was great
The bed was very uncomfortable and there was extremely loud noise in the hallways all night long so it was hard to sleep.
Free airport shuttle, nice design, friendly staff
Bed was not comfy:board was too low and the matress too soft even for my liking. There were no signals or signs about the facilities anywhere, you had to ask everything at reception.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. It was close to the airport and major freeways.
No bar or restaurant.
Location, Staff, Clean
Sketchy elevators, Overpriced breakfast buffet, Small Rooms
Modern simple decor and look
Bathroom was grimy and had mold and old water stain in the wood work. Curtains covering the blank was looked nice but was covered in dust at the top. Hallways smelled of "old hotel" smell. Overall disappointed it was a JDV property and should have been cheaper for what it was.
No cleaning for two days, front disck rude, not all of them but some of them
They remodeled the hotel rooms. I was very disappointed in their new "modern" beds. 2" off the ground. Not what I was needing. The front desk did not know which floor has ice machines and kept sending me out into the hallway until HE discovered there was no ice machine on the 2nd floor. Frig broken. Water bottle old. No Kleenex. Slippery tub. Several inconvienances that all added up to a poor experience.
Staff were friendly, accommodation was as expected, price was right..there was a $30 eduction special
Perfect airport location - near but not too near! Proximity to shops and restaurants.
Expensive parking and useless tiny gym space.
close to LAX and plenty of walking distance facilities in the area of hotel, good shuttle service.
Room rate was $148. Taxes, "fees", $27 parking charge drove price to over $184. For that price I could have stayed at a much nicer hotel for the same money. Room was a "box" but clean.
The location around is not great, but it is very close to the airport. The bed's were comfortable and the rooms were clean.
The valet parking staff took thirty minutes to get into my car and park it when arrived. I waited in the lobby until one of the valet's got into my car. My car was unlock the entire time while they were having there conversation. I was not impressed. The blinds in the room was in poor condition and the bathroom sealing for the shower was pealing off. Maintenance needs to fix those minor details. Overall, not impressed with the hotel. I have stayed in another hotel owned by this company before (The Saguaro), it was far better.
The contemporary styling was amazing. I was only there for a couple of hours, but it was extremely comfortable.
close to airport LAX,wi fi
narrow area room
Facilities onsite and nearby and friendly staff.
I liked the size of the room.
The young woman who checked me in neglected to tell me what amenities, if any the hotel has; about breakfast and about how ordering from Deck 33 works. I found out from Adam when checking out. I only heard from him what the hotel had to offer because he was telling new guests. They need more staff. When I checked in, the young woman at the desk was alone (as was Adam on my check out day). She stopped assisting me to answer the phone, to answer a question from the Valet, then a guest and then a maintenance person. The rooms have obviously been remodeled because the elevator and bathrooms show age.
The staff was great. They took care of me well.
My room key didn't work but the staff fixed the problem by replacing the battery into door.
free shuttle to airport, yet off the beaten path of LAX, but the shuttle had issues. The pool and restaurant were very nice. The bus is across the street and got us to the airport, as well as to Santa Monica for some fun. It was easy, fast and cheap.
They never announced the airport shuttle and although we were right in the lobby, we never knew it came and went. we ended up taking the bus. also the tub was broken in our room but they moved us to another room very quickly.
It was a good location and they were very efficient.
They charged some things on my husbands credit card even though everything was pre-paid on my card. When we called their attention to it, they took care of it but then the next day another very small amount was charged and we weren't even there.
clean, great location and value. Free upgrade for my birthday. Good breakfast buffet.
Pool bar didn't open until 5 pm??? You know much much money they lost from 12- 5 pm!!! It was 95 degrees outside when we checked in ( An Anomally in CA in mid March) and all we wanted after driving 3 hours from San Diego was the pool, a beer and some food but we couldn't even buy it so we hit a cool Mexican place across the street called Cinco. Elevators stopped on every floor but overall for the price I felt ok with what we got. We went to the pool at the Ritz Carlton the day after and spent as much as the room cost at Custom on lunch and drinks so we are pool lovers. Missed opportunity for the Custom to keep everyone in house and increase rev from a business standpoint and create a better experience for guests. It's a high end Hostel. No more, no less
The Custom is a (slightly) renovated & updated 1960s era tower, close to the airport, freeway network, Marina del Ray, and restaurants/amenities (including a Ralph's, which is great...). Staying there twice, I generally found the place clean & inviting, and reminiscent of retrofit hostels in the EU.
Several advertised features weren't available, such as a working printer in the LAX Lounge. Call/check beforehand with the concierge before paying higher prices for rooms that advertise access. The pool went unused the four days I was there—it's tiny, and more useful for lounging beside at night with a drink from the Deck33 bar. Otherwise, staying in two rooms, bed quality varied (my second stay, in a suite, had a much softer & unsupportive bed), and in both rooms the A/C never got the room below 78, so if you need a cool room to sleep, check elsewhere.
Very close to LAX but in an actual neighborhood (coffe shops, grocery stores, restaurants). Spare/minimal design and room features, but all comfortable and pleasant. Fast free wifi. Friendly helpful staff.
A few minor wear and tear issues - the gray paint on certain walls and floors seemed to show scuffs, etc. A minibar would be great.
Great restaurants within walking distance.
Staff was really friendly. Hip and happening hotel. Lower amount of traffic in this area but still close to beach and sites.
