I had read a lot of online reviews before I checked in, so I knew to ask for a room on a lower floor due to the lack of elevator service (one elevator bank was completely out of service, the other 2 elevators were tiny, slow, and occasionally one of the two was not working at all.)
My first room had a bathroom sink with either a clog or problem causing it to drain very slowly (Room 217.) One day I went out to an appointment, and when I returned that night, someone had tried fixing the sink (I didn't make any complaint since it wasn't a big deal to me...) I washed my hands and... the water drained onto the floor! I called downstairs and they told me I had to change rooms that night! I was yelled at by the engineer repeatedly that I must vacate the room ASAP (it was almost 10 pm!) The entire mess was handled poorly. I promised not to touch the sink that night and begged to be allowed to move rooms in the morning. The next day there was much confusion on finding me another unoccupied room on a low floor, but eventually I was moved into 217, which was almost identical except that it had a nicer TV with more channels and a more ergonomic desk chair. I was only given the courtesy of a 2pm late check out time (they charge for late check outs) for this inconvenience, and I had to really make a big argument with the front desk in order to even get that tiny 2 hour freebie. It was entirely stressful having to pack and move down the hall and then unpack again just because they wanted to make emergency repairs to a sink that merely had a slow drain problem until an employee started to fix it while I was out at a meeting. It was a business trip and I had tons paperwork, etc- relocating caused lots of disorganization for the project I was in the middle of working on; considering I didn't cause the problem with the sink, I don't think I should have had to beg for a free late check out time when I was leaving a few days later.
I was traveling on business, so the proximity to excellent public transportation was a great asset (#1, #2, and #3 train is one block away!) There is no room service per say, but they have an extensive amount of local restaurants which will deliver right to your hotel room. Many good inexpensive restaurants less than one block away. There is a laundromat right across the street that picks up and delivers for wash/dry/fold service. Also, laundry room on the 2nd floor which I didn't use, but was a nice extra. The staff was extremely helpful with any questions or requests I made. If I called for extra towels or coffee for the in room coffee machine- items were delivered immediately. I was in a non-renovated room on the 2nd floor, and it had everything a business traveler would need.
