the room was cold and steam was coming out of the heater. I asked to fix it and another blanket; none of these occurred.
the location was great.
the hair dryer, the telephone, the warm heat, the elevators and the shower of one of the rooms had serious problems.
the staff at check in are prompt and this is a great building. Your staying on the upper westside, such a cool neighborhood. NYC is God! Staff is alert and communicative. I went during off season, and got a really nice room. There was a profesiional articulating mirror, so it would be a big hit room for folks who do makeup and want to see close up. The hot water didn't work, but I called and asked to go somewhere else for a shower. They sent cool staff, came in, moved the know on the main, water was fine. Hot radiator. Nice if you like it warm, but I turned it off immediately
it was all good. NYC upper west is God!
The maintenance guy was nice.
The elevator broke down twice in the two days I was there. There was no cable in the room (as there should have been according to my package). It was freezing cold the entire stay. There's no ice machine or refrigerator anywhere. The hallways smell. The walls are too thin. The entire hotel needs to be renovated.
Location near the 96th street subway stn and there are lots of options for dining around the hotel.
I had a problem with my tv. It kept switching off on its own. So i complained. The staff were very apologetic and promised to get an engineer to fix it but nothing was done in spite of my making a second complaint the next day as well.
convenience to where I needed to be
the fact that online I reserved a King-size bed at an across-the-board price, but they had none left when I checked in --- bait & switch?
No problem checking in or out. Front desk staff was super friendly and the bellmen were eager to assist with bags and helpful later to check my bags for a few hours after check out. Clean, comfortable room with the best fluffy pillows and very clean, good-sized bathroom. Anything I requested such as extra blankets, towels, toilet paper etc. was quickly provided. The housemaids are eager to provide you with a clean room and amenities. Just ASK. There's no room service but the hotel is located right near some great restaurants (Pio Pio, Mexican Festival) and cheap eats (94 Corner Cafe, Europan, McDonalds, etc.) that are open all hours. Even better, they will deliver food right to your hotel room door. The subway is right nearby on Broadway and there are Duane Reade, CVS, and other convenience stores nearby. Great walking neighborhood, with Central Park nearby and museums a quick bus ride away. Taxis eady to catch on Broadway which is steps away from the hotel. Beautiful churches nearby too. Also stayed in a Premier Club room on a higher floor and it was wonderful! More amenities (toothbrush, mouthwash, toothpaste, razor, etc.), giant flat screen tv, nicer decor; definitely worth the price. Loved the apple on the pillow. The lobby is very nice, not quite grand though, but loved the old books by the electric fireplace. A staff member even asked me if there was any I would like to take down to read. The chiming of the grandfather clock through the lobby was lovely. The business center also came in handy for printing off the Internet. The fitness center is small (only two machines!) but always available when I checked. Loved it here. It's affordable, in a great neighborhood and location with friendly staff, a hotel meant for a great trip to NYC where you will be out and about enjoying this amazing city! It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not.
No major issues. The building the hotel is in is very old and may show its age. The building also used to be apartments before converting to a hotel apparently, so the corridors tend to be a bit of a labyrinth. The decor on the lower floor hallways is outdated and UGLY (sorry, but it is!) There are 2 working elevators, and 2 non-working, a glass half-full or half-empty situation. The wifi connection can be a bit dodgy. In a pinch, sitting in the lobby gives a better, faster connection.
The first room I was put in was absolutely freezing. It was like below zero outside and it felt almost the same inside. When maintenance finally came he said the heat was on so it should warm up eventually. I waited a hour then went to talk the front desk who seemed to have only one person working and he eventually put me in a smaller room that was a smidge warmer. It was a non refundable room so that had to do.
Gorgeous beds real comfort very friendly couldn't do enough for us
Slow wi fi
Love the location and great staff
room was a little small & towels seemed to be in short supply
Room was clean and spacious (by nyc standards). Location is convenient and close to metro. Finding parking wasn't so bad either.
Not sure if there was construction going on outside, but it was very loud.
No swimming pool
The staff were awesome.
Internet connection wasn't very good in the room. They also need to clearly explain charges to guests.
The bed and cable
It was cold in the room. The shower water was cold.
the beds were very comfortable good location
there nothing to tell about it
Location that's about it!
Room was extremely small. Very little Heat on a cold winter night in NYC ..Horrible.. The television was a disgrace not even a flat screen.. Bed was suppose to be QUEEN SIZE it was more like twin size ...smh...
The blue illuminated lights under the bed was beautiful. I also love the bathroom, nice and clean even though it took a min for the water to heat up but other than that no complaints.
Couldn't control the heat. But we cuddled so we wasn't cold.
The front desk staff attended us immidietly.
We were given a room inside the staircase ... Seriously. Not only was the carpet super dirty but the room was really cold. We asked for assistance and they sent up a heater that barely did us justice. A motel could've looked better than this and I was very displeased at the room we were sent to. The pictures I saw were nothing like what we had to stay in. Days hotel sorry won't ever be coming back here again.
convenient location to all transportation
could have been cleaner, hallways needed vacuuming tv did not work properly very slow elevators
Location was excellent. Very convenient to stores, restaurants and transportation.
The property is dated and in need of upgrades and repairs. It is worth the extra money to upgrade your room from the start or be subject to stress and disappointment.
This is the 2nd time there was "0" facecloths in the bathroom and only "1" towel. No hand towels just one towel. I don't know whats the matter but it should be looked into.
The value for money given the location was unbeatable.
Wifi signal was unstable and kept cutting out.
The staff were always there to help. Location of the hotel is really good
No wifi in my first room for two weeks. No breakfast. Old furniture
Housekeeping/room service (random) Decor - hadn't been decorated for god knows how long Carpet was ancient and stained Blinds broken No bath plug hairdryer didn't work
