Days Inn Portage  

The hotel was being refurbished. Almost completed, fresh paint everywhere except breakfast area. Nice spot, close to freeway and the Sand Dunes park

The staff was very friendly.

The facility was very dirty. All the capets were stained. There was barely any water pressure in the hotel. THe mini fridge did not work. The heater in our room was really loud and completely stopped working at 5am. The pool area was dark, lots of lights were out. Very very dirty. We were scheduled to stay 2 nights but ended up leaving by 9am after the first night. Wish we could have gotten our money back for the entire stay instead of just the one night we decided not to stay. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone. Very disappointed and will not go back here.

The staff was professional and at my request changed my room with no problems

1. The location. There is nothing to worth while to eat near. There is a Denny's next door that you receive a 15% discount if you show your hotel key card. 2. The rooms are not clean. The hotel recently outlawed smoking. However, my initial non smoking room smelled like smoke, the sheets had ember burns, the bathroom was unclean, and the chair in the room had multiple stains on the cushion and a dried, ivory colored unknown particle adhered to it. My new room was slightly better because it was clean, newly painted, and the chair was vinyl. However, upon further inspection, the fresh white towels had small stains on them, my bed blanket had a large burned out hole from cigarette embers, and i noticed random hairs on the white sheets.

The Days Inn Portage is an older facility (sort of like me, at 71) and as such has some issues, such as stained hall carpeting, the lock on the swimming pool door that doesn't work, etc. However, it is clear that work has been done to keep the place up as well as possible. However, our room smelled and was clean, the ac and tv worked and the bathroom was in excellent condition, including good toiletries and clean, newer towels. I rated the staff "good" mostly because of their friendliness and apparent work ethic. At least one person on staff was dressed in what appeared to be filthy clothes. However, that person was also quite friendly and helpful when I asked for assistance overcoming the swimming pool lock problem. All in all, we are glad we stayed here. Thanks to all.

Soiled carpets, lack of towels (you could use older, worn towels for this task) in the swimming pool area, swimming pool access (if your staff member had not been willing to manually trip the door lock I'd have missed my only opportunity for a morning workout). Staff should all wear clean uniforms, or at least some sort of identifying shirt logo or badge. I hope these minor corrections can be worked out and that you will keep this hotel open - at the current lower prices!

The maintenance man was drunk when he came to fix our door. I talked to him the next morning and smelled alcohol on him again!! There were small bugs on the floor we kept killing.... Not fun!! It was the cheapest place to stay........ You get what you pay for!!! We like the Days Inn but will never go back there again!!

Das Hotel ist äusserst ideal für Durchreisende mit Auto und/oder Fernfahrer, aber für Reisende ohne eigenes Auto völlig ungeeignet. Es ist ein typisches Motel für Individualreisende mit eigenem Verkehrsmittel.

Good location from our itinerary and next to a Denny's restaurant.

Older hotel. Small bathroom. There was also a cobweb in the bathroom. This was our first experience with a hotel using a presence detector on the air conditioner. Woke up in the middle of the night sweating since the air shut off automatically. Not a great experience with the pool either.

staff was pleasant and responsive

toilet needed some adjustment to get it working---they did that. Window was open and screen had fallen off, so we struggled with flying bugs through the night (luckily, not mosquitoes). Back door to building did not lock.

The gentlemen working at the front desk the day I left, I can't seem to remember his name but is was July 6th around 9:30 am, he was so extremely caring and kind, much different then I girl I spoke with the night before about why we had to leave early.

I didn't like that the breakfast room was UN-airconditioned, I didn't like the way I was treated by the young lady when I told her our visit had to be cut short due to a death in my family and she was cold and callus.

It wasnt outside and had heat.

This place was an overpriced super 8. For the quality of rooms the charge should have been $35 to $40 tops.

The breakfast service is poor. The lady's attitude is terrible!!! Stop supplying new food just because the breakfast time is 9 am!

Budget friendly. Good place to stop before entering Chicago.
