The Steinbeck Center is a must.
The Steinbeck Center is a must. I had breakfast at a local coffee shop on Main street, a few blocks away from the Steinbeck center. I can't remember the name, but the food was good and affordable. The staff was great. Seems like a draw for the locals.

A little farther from Monterey than I would have liked.
A little farther from Monterey than I would have liked. Took 45 minutes with traffic. Went to Fujiyama Japanese Restaurant in salinas. The chefs make it interactive, So much fun to watch them prepare the meal, the food was fantastic and my 8 year old loved it.

I came to Salinas in September of 2020 as a traveler for nuclear medicine. I was to be in Salinas for 2 months at Natividad hospital. At first I was disappointed that Monterey Car Week and other car events had been cancelled. I heard of the Salinas Cars and Coffee on Main Street near Starbucks. I met some really great guys there as well as going on a cruise held by the guys at Deadend Magazine. I have a newer muscle car but everyone was friendly and great! I was asked to extend my contract for another month and I agreed. It was sad to leave in November and return to my home in Las Vegas.
I am currently back in Salinas working at Natividad. They requested me specifically while a staff member was off on medical leave. I was excited to have the opportunity to return and see everyone again.
I love the city and the car culture here. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. As an example, I had issues with my brakes and one of the guys offered his tools, garage, and time to change them out for me.
The weather is great and there is plenty to do and see here. Especially if you are into automobiles. There have been some vehicles here I have not seen since I was a kid. I have enjoyed my second stay just as much or more! It’s almost like a second home and I have made some great friends!!

For us, being a block over from family is most convenient.
For us, being a block over from family is most convenient. Good breakfast at the hotel. Everything in the hotel is clean and kept up. If you have a concern, the front desk is always accommodating.
Our favorite spot is a brewery on Main St. near the Steinbeck Center.
Salinas is centrally located to reach Monterey and Carmel within 30-45 minutes.

The Steinbeck Center is informative, well laid out.
The Steinbeck Center is informative, well laid out. I enjoyed the typewriting experience.
Please visit The Steinbeck home and support the volunteers who maintain and run the beautiful home all year round.
Patria is a wonderful restaurant in Old Town, serving Italian, German and Italian inspired food in a beautiful building.
Great bookstores.
Lots of homeless and questionable people in the parking area and out front. Cops were called one morning by staff to get homeless folks out of the breakfast area, the staff lady even locked the front door. Furniture in the dining area is old and in poor shape. TV is very small and the connection was bad, it kept freezing up. The carafe for the coffee maker in the room was missing, never was it replaced. Upgrades are really needed. I don’t recommend this hotel.
I come to Laurel Inn when ever I come down to Monterey Car Week. Price is reasonable, rooms are always clean, staff is helpful and efficient. The breakfast was decent considering the COVID issues. See you next year.
Very comfortable room with great toiletries. The showerhead is amazing!! Close to downtown Salinas and freeway Housekeeping only comes in every 3 days of your stay but you can request more often with no problem.
We enjoyed that the Chateau has history and has been preserved. The room was large, and the bed was comfortable. The staff, even though absent, were helpful and guided us through for late check-in.
The breakfast was good for being a simple hotel breakfast. Wish the eggs were a bit more well done and not so mushy but other than that everything else was great!
Room size, decoration and furniture.
Fitness room well equipped.
Breakfast well served, and in good hours.
When there was a recepcionist, the staff was kind.
