Tacoma itself seems like a great city.
Tacoma itself seems like a great city. However, the Comfort Inn next to the Tacoma Dome is terrible. The staff are unprofessional, and you’ll be lucky if you can get checked in (even if you booked months in advance).

Be prepared to see a city over run by trash, crime, and homelessness. Don't bother staying anywhere with walking distant of any main attraction, you won't be able to walk anyway due to the sprawling homeless encampments and gang bangers lining every corner and underpass. Do your research before you go and be aware of your surroundings.

Absolutely love the place and we will continue to visit often. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is fantastic! Every person we encountered was cheerful and helpful. The bartender that served us was funny and accommodating! I'm a minority and not often treated equally but here it makes no difference! We will come back often...

Silver Cloud is a very nice place to stay and very quiet comfortable rooms. But it is a little expensive by the time we got done with one night the room, parking, dinner and breakfast it was almost $500. We had planned on more than one night but had to just do one for our anniversary don’t get me wrong it is very nice place along the water front. There is a public market, theater, shops and more dining with in walking distance. The glass museum, point defiance park and zoo are a short drive. It wold have been nice to have a room facing the water maybe next time after we save up a little money.

OK, first you have to understand that I've lived in Tacoma for a long time. Homelessness and crime are major issues unfortunately but more often than not as long as you don't do anything stupid you should be fine. All that aside, Tacoma is an absolutely beautiful city with some gorgeous historical buildings and neighborhoods full of crestsman turn of the century houses. Also the food scene here, although not on the same part as Seattle, is definitely a close 2nd.
The room was clean and decently sized. We had a nice view of the water from our room, and a fireworks show as a bonus. The hotel is in a great location just off the neighborhood of Old Tacoma, and walking distance to a few harbor side restaurants, and only a few miles from the downtown museums. The breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon in addition to the usual cereal, muffins, yogurt, fruit.
My wife and I took a hot shower for 45 minutes. The steam set off the fire alarm for 90 minutes. I received a bill for an extra $250.00 for smoking in the room. The adjoining room had a door that others were knocking and trying to twist the door open all night. Worst experience in 25 years of hotel hopping. The low life street life should make you think twice about the downtown tacoma destination!]
We stayed during our honeymoon trip and loved everything about this hotel! The staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was perfect and we enjoyed exploring all of the areas of the hotel and bars. Highlights were the free live music in the beautiful band room, the secret bar, the tikki style bar where we had dinner and drinks, and the tap room. We hope to return one day!
I knew it wasn't a 5 star hotel but the room wasn't cleaned very well it smelled of wet dog and of animal urine, I had to go buy some air freshener. But the room was a good size we had clean towels and such. I have gone back and stay a few times and will probably stay again for what I pay the staff is friendly and the rooms are decent
From start to finish, this experience exceeded my expectations. The valets were super nice and accommodating. The front desk staff at check-in were very personable. The entire facility was exceptionally clean. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. The facility had the same vibe as a new casino hotel.
Central Tacoma Homestay is very well located in a nice and safe area, easy to find, the room was perfectly clean and confortable, with a big TV-screen, WiFi connexion, and it was easy to park our car just in front the house
The owner of the house, Dale, is a very nice guy but we got a pb
The room was nice, the bed was comfortable. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but we did have a cocktail at the bar, and it was a truly excellent cocktail. We were up on a pretty high floor, so we couldn't hear any street noise. The hotel main areas were very beautiful.
Dale was personable and accommodating. The room was lovely, well equipped, and appointed. All the little details of travel paraphernalia and electronics were at your fingertips. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Tacoma area.
