Donovan House - a Kimpton Hotel    

I loved this hotel. The location is excellent - a 15min walk to the front gates of the White House and then in the other direction on 14th to bars and restaurants and shopping and theatre. The staff is very friendly and professional. The contemporary design of the hotel is slick but still comfortable with an edge of luxury. The attached sushi restaurant and bar is fantastic. The daily free wine in lobby from 5-6 is a great perk. The bed is comfortable and halls and rooms are quiet. I would stay here again. And once the roof top pool and terrace is complete it will be even better. When we needed ice it always arrived very quickly. Due to a slightly late arrival and mess-up of the pre-ordered room-service breakfast, it was not charged on the bill - a very classy and respectful gesture. This hotel added to the enjoyment of the trip to Washington for me and my partner.

My very minor complaint is the lack of a usable shelf or shelves in the bathroom to put personal toiletries. Especially when there was 2 of us in the room. And a few extra towel hooks would be helpful.

The friendly staff and helpful. The fact that I couldn't hear people in the next rooms and there was no slamming of doors, very relaxing and very "clean". The area seems very safe at night and near needed stores and food places. Very clean room except the carpet, needs tobe cleaned

Location great for me. Skip, the doorman was friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Free wifi if you join the loyalty scheme, great bathrobes. Restuarant was good too.

Some signs of wear in room (lot of damage to the leather bedstead). Room service menu was a little limited, but I think that due to restaurant.

Very trendy, fun environment. Staff was really friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. Loved the complimentary wine between 5-6 every day. Perfect timing after a day of touring!

The location was a little off for the touring family. We spent a lot on cab fare!

Bath room is not properly planned, while taking shower all the water is spill out of shower to the room.

Style. It has character, above all else. All the DC hotels are pricey and all around the same price, all offer the ameities of a city hotel, but most are boring, and similar in all ways. This hotel was unique (as well as being clean and efficient) and made my son's senior trip special and memorable. Well done!

I liked the hospitality, the staff was helpful and punctual.

The furniture is leather so u can see grease and fingerprints, it needs to sanitize often

The worst showers I have ever suffered in a hotel - even a 2 star wouldn't offer showers like these.

There is nothing to fault whatsoever with this hotel. The staff are fantastic - always available but never with the sense that they are being obsequiously nice. From concierge, to bellman, from maid to the guy that put out the free tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby at 6am, their helpfulness is genuine and non stop. The room (granted we were in quite possibly the most fabulous suite thanks to an upgrade) was beautiful. Immaculately clean, spacious and with enviable decor. Who wouldn't want to stay in a room where the complimentary dressing gowns come in a selection of animal prints! Location was perfect at Thomas Circle with just a 20 minute walk or so down to the mall and all the attractions. Honestly it really is that good of a boutique hotel and more than worth the price tag. If I was to be asked if this was the best hotel I'd ever stayed in I would have to say it's in the top one!! Thanks to this hotel and the lovely people that make it all work I had quite possibly one of the best weekends I could have imagined......

staff was kind, helpful and knowledgeable.

Great location. We were upgraded from a premium King room, to King suite. Morning coffee and happy hour in the lobby was also nice touch.

No real problem, although our 12th floor room faced the internal part of building, and the white noise from the air system was quite loud at times. In future will probably request room that faces Thomas Circle instead.

Cool design in general, the shower in the room was really great. Price was a good value for the quality. Location was a bit further north than I would like, but weather was nice enough for a walk.

I didn't get the idea housekeeping was great. When my room was cleaned they left a used glass on a counter. I don't think they did much in the bathroom to wipe up, as my toiletries had not moved at all.

I really had a great time. The staff were very friendly and the service was great. I thought the wine happy hour was very classy. What a nice thing to do for your guests. I would definatley stay there again.

It was awesome and a lot of fun. The open bar from 5 - 6 PM was also great.

The room was big and spacious, the bathroom was beautiful with a designer shower. The bed was excelent! Loved the reastaurant also!

The concierge could't give us any specific advices on restaurants...

I love the new age design of the room it was full of energy with a romantic fillIng requested for a veiw and I got I. I will stay again many times and the bath tub was awsome!!! Five starr.....

Just watch your added charges when I check-out and receive my bill I don't wanna see added charges late..

Incredibly friendly staff, just an excellent hotel overall. Nice rooftop swimming pool and bar. Complimentary drinks between 5-6 was a great way to rewind and begin the evening. The room was fantstic, very modern and comfortable.

Not enough towel hooks!

Not much... i guess it was a place to stay that was somewhat close. Not as close as it looks like on the website. It's about 30 minute walk to the white house .

We fell for the email that said we got an upgrade to a Deluxe King room...it wasn't any different than the King room, but they added $7 to our bill for the upgrade... Also, the pictures indicate a huge pool.. but in reality it is soooo small. Didn't like the bathroom shower at all, also they don't have a sheet on the bed, just a duvet cover! The first night we had no hot water, but we did get the complimentary breakfast for free the next day.
