I really LOVED the decor, the staff, and the restaurant, and the location.
We did not like, the surprise security fee of $100 per night, the overpriced snacks, the TINY room, the lack of views, the clogged sink, and the weird lighting.
My boyfriend and I looked all over the east coast for a last minute, upscale hotel (within budget) for a short stay over Valentine's weekend. The Kimpton was one of the few hotels that did not double their rates for the holiday, yet still looked clean and modern. We stayed in a Deluxe Queen Room for two nights for only about $420. When we arrived, the staff was AMAZING. The valet staff was very helpful and the two staff members at check-in were genuinely kind people. Since we arrived during the daily "wine hour," we were given complementary wine, which was a nice surprise. The housekeeping staff also went above and beyond. Our room had a handwritten note by the bed that said: "Welcome to the Donovan! Your housekeeper, Regina." It was a very nice gesture by the housekeeping staff, but even kinder was when they delivered a single white rose to our room on Valentine's Day morning! Overall, our experience at The Donovan exceeded every expectation. We would definitely recommend The Donovan to anyone looking for an upscale, but inexpensive, hotel.
The only issue my boyfriend and I noticed was slow wifi on our laptop in the morning; however, this was not an issue for our cell phones.
the comfort, the room is quiet and clean
I was blocked in the elevator and the emmergency call had nobody replied! finally got out of the lift and told the staff about it but the receptionist didn't care about it and said it's often like that and she didn't take any preventive measures for this elevator or stop other users to take it! The room service is bad! no water boiler! so I asked for a pot of hot water for tea. They gave me a pot of hot water but with strong Coffee smell!!! They didn't wash the pot well!
I loved the service that was provided for me and my new wife, and the view from our room was amazing. We both loved the Atmosphere and the service that was provided for us. It was the perfect place for a honeymoon.
I didn't like how everything you wanted was extra. Parking was $50 and wifi even cost money if you wanted it. I didn't really need it, but all in all it didn't detract from the experience
The staff did everything you could ask from them to please you.
The bathroom although big had shortcomings. The frase "form follows function" was not use by the designer. The shower head trickled water. The toilet so close to the sink encroached with both of us.
I have to ask to replenish shampoo kit Expensive parking
Amazing welcome on Christmas Day with stockings from Santa, wine, gifts and cookies! Friendly personal staff who know how to make you feel at home.
The waygun steak was the best steak I've ever tasted
I reserved a suite for new years eve months ago and they did not hold my room I had a much smaller room it was not a particularly nice room either. Not worth the money won't be going again and I do not recommend anyone else go
The staff was amazing! They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the town.
Very dim rooms definitely needs more lighting.
Staff and location were great
The decor seemed a bit stark. Did not care for the shower sticking out into the room.
Stunning lobby, friendly staff, not too far from the main tourist attractions, the room was superb :) There was no coffee/tea facilities available in the room but complimentary to go coffee was available in the lobby
Staff, location, coffee, and wine :)
The elevators were our only issue really. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable too
The room was great - large, comfortable and quiet. I loved the quirky bathroom and your card offering anything I'd left behind (I didn't need anything but appreciated the offer) Service was patchy - the guy on reception when we arrived was great - the woman when we were checking out was disinterested and unhelpful.
The elevators!! Slow and unreliable. Also the perfumed candles at reception - standing in the foyer even for a minute started an asthma attack. This was a major problem when I was trying to check out. Room service was not good - not starting breakfast until 7am on weekdays and 8 am on weekends is not helpful if your guests have an early start. Also on the two occasions I used room service they got my order wrong.
Beautiful rooms in a very stylish hotel. Perfect location. Very attentive and friendly staff. Fun attitude to branding and presentation.
good location. 24hr CVS right across the street. nice suite. good view. friendly staff who helped us find what we needed.
Elevators are very very slow. and very small. Paid for parking and valet told me to pull my car up front and he would take it to the garage. My car was there all night and i found it there in the morning. They told me i was lucky it wasnt towed. i didnt pay 50 bucks to be put in that predicament. luckily nothing happened to my car but still. it wasnt the best experience and i like the hotel but prob wont pay for valet there again.
My grown daughter and I visited for 5 days and enjoyed walking to most all the attractions. Good location for dining and public transportation,(didn't use it, but it was there). Modern clean rooms and wine time at 4:00pm.
Need another towel bar near the sinks. Nowhere to put towels after you wipe your hands.
We came for a honeymoon and this hotel was the best from a very long list of other hotels! We got an amazing room, the receptionist welcomed us very nice. Happy hour offered by the hotel. I ate the best sushi ever in the hotel's restaurant "Zentan"
The ambulances / police sirens from the street were very noisy during the night and there were a lot of them every night. The waiting time for elevators.
How the room and reception looked. Very funky furnishings.
Lighting in bathroom not great.
bed were great to sleep in. The wine at night 5pm to 6 pm was great and free to drink. the food in was very great
We thought we had the wrong room when we opened the door , it was huge , modern and clean , well pleased . The bathroom had a bath and shower. The room was quite even though it overlooked the road and black out curtains ensured an excellent nights sleep.
Staff at reception was nice and helpful
Design is good but dominates usability. Breakfast buffet is poor in comparison to price
clean and spacious rooms, small lobby though, security is good at night ( entrance with a room key). location is good, and right outside you have a CVS ( 24 hours)
We were a group of people, 10 rooms. They did not give us the rooms until 6 -7 pm, only two rooms were given on time. This is due to the hotel being booked for a summit. But, what that got to do with us? Hire more people for housekeeping so we don't wait for hours to get into a cleaned room!! The duty manager even told some of my group that "being angry with him won't get them their rooms faster"!! I had to come down and talk to him, he told me they were loud! At 6-7 pm you have the right to be frustrated! I demanded that at least he gives them vouchers for the breakfast, he gave the girls "only" in the group vouchers, which we did not use anyway on the day after. I won't stay here again, neither as a solo traveler or as a part of a group.
I liked the staff, service and restaurant.
The room size, no towel racks in the bathroom and no microwave in the room.
Happy Hour Rooftop pool and bar friendly staff
Cost of drinks in restaurant!
