Score from 368 reviews Very good
Quite for a bottom floor. Perfect stay. One of the best, most quite stays we have had this hotel. For a bottom floor room, we were very satisfied.
Didn't honor the quoted price on the reservation
The view from the balcony door was just fair
The quiet and serenity. The beds were extremely comfortable and somewhat plush.
We were told we had 2 Queen beds when we booked it. Turns out they only have double beds. It was the first time since we've been together that we had to sleep in separate beds. Also, the air conditioning sucked and was very loud. Kept me awake. Road to the hotel needs to be paved badly!
Location is good for visiting friends in the Emeryville area. Great that the rooms have sliding doors that open for fresh air!
The pool and hot tub area was dated and felt dirty. (Used bandaid on the ground next to hot tub for 3 days. Yuck!) Our door keys wouldn't work. Noticed several other guest with same issue. Hallways VERY noisy with heavy doors slamming all night long. Thin walls. NOISY!
The staff was very friendly.
The hallways were dirty. The room was not all that clean. The breakfast staff were understaffed and slow and our server was VERY rude. The only employees who were truly kind and helpful beyond their own needs were the maid service. VERY nice.
Front desk staff were nice
The grounds are beautiful, the air is fresh and the setting next to a marina is restful.
I was disappointed that there was no refrigerator or safe in the room. Little noisy, but ear plugs were available on the nightstand.
Nice location. Very convenient for Berkeley. Breakfast buffet was good and the restaurant staff friendly and helpful.
I got lost a few times trying to find my way back through the labyrinth to the right building and my room.
It was a supportive environment; I wasn't there much of the time, but it was quiet and the surroundings are aesthetic.
Loved this hotel! Staff was friendly
The location is ideal...a marine oasis in the middle of busy Berkeley and San Francisco.
Great hotel, plus Cesar Chavez park next door for a lovely nature walk, with cool bay breezes and views. A lovely respite from city life.
Cookie, location, friendliness, atmosphere!
The standard rooms are spacious, well appointed, clean and comfortable. It's a little oasis on the Marina close to downtown. Staff are friendly and accommodating. We have stayed her twice and will continue to stay here when in Berkeley.
Proximity to the Marina/Pier and Chavez Park recreational areas.
Too awhile to figure out how to get around. Our building was "hidden" behind 2 others. Not a map in sight.
Location on the Marina
overall good experience...although the wifi connection was not working very well
nice, quiet location... awesome cookies
My room key didn't work most of the time. The entry door to building two was not secure, it was wide open with a not working sign on the key swipe box. The restaurant needs a serous renovation. The service in the restaurant was poor. I had to find someone to pay for my meal after waiting 15 minutes for someone to pick up my money.
I didn't like the fact that I had to call the front desk three times to get more towels which I specifically asked for when I checked in
we went downstairs to eat the food was rather good view of the marina was spectacular
There was nothing specifically wrong or bad with our stay but for the price we paid compared to the great places we stayed in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Honolulu I feel disappointed by what we got for what we paid.
Stayed in a very large suite that gave us plenty of room to spread out.
surprisingly big, so your room can be quite a walk from checkin; with a few doors to negotiate that were a bit of a hassle with a rolling bag.
didn't do much more than sleep, but everything about the experience was fine. checkin/out quick and efficient.
hotel in the middle of no where with shuttle bu running only top of the hour.
generous supply of water and apple
This hotel is coming apart. The closet door was kicked in, the mirror frame was damaged and poorly painted over, there were huge damages/holes/stains in the carpet in the corridor, the elevator made me panic for the first time in my life, the car park is not a nice view, the Amtrak trains honk all night long and wake you up repeatedly, and there was loud and and annoying electrical hum that my partner thought was boats honking in the distance going off every few minutes (also all night). The price is an absolute rip-off unless you get a marina view. Why pay DoubleTree prices for the Super 8 experience?!? I 'slept' absolutely terribly.
The marina would have been nice... if I had been able to see it at all. For all I know, there wasn't one. Ummm... what else? Perhaps if you get a marina view you don't have to listen to the trains all night?
They were redoing the carpet in all three buildings due to a flood. On Saturday morning at 9 am I awoke to loud pounding due to the construction. I called to ask manager why they did not put me in another room away from the construction. The manager Mike told me there was construction in all three buildings. I was polite and asked why they had to work on Saturday morning. He kindly replied that they needed to get the work done promptly. He could hear the pounding over the phone and quicklly comped my stay. I was surprised. I was not expecting that and did not ask for a free stay. I was so impressed by his professional and kind demeanor. This was a pleasant surprise because I was just calling him to give him information on the pounding. I was very grateful for his kindness and generosity.
