Parking staff were helpful in spite of chaotic drop off.
Specifically asked to be away from elevators but put in a room where we backed onto the shaft so we could hear the doors opening and closing, as well as the constant up and down as it worked through out the night and day. Add the fact that the shower head was mounted a little over 3 feet from the floor of the tub, which made it all but impossible to shower and rinse with any degree if ease....staff either did not care or could not read. Skip the chocolate chip cookie and give me a room that works...
The staff was nice and helpful in getting cabs, suggesting places for the kids. They extended or checkout time and held our luggage so we could tour the city before we left. For the little bit of time we spent in he room, it was fine for the money. Easy walk to Rockefeller Center and American Girl doll store.
The room was fine and the bed was excellent. All was clean and tidy.
I was hassled by some man coming into the hotel, which was upsetting. The price was way too high. The guest shampoo, conditioner and cream were tidy and it was hard to get the lotions out of the bottles.
Good staff & good locaion & good beakfast
The hotel is very well located, it's few block away from 5th ave (5 blocks) and about 3 blocks away from United Nations Plaza. I really enjoy after a long day/night in NYC having a comfortable room with a really good bed, the best: it's quiet!
There was not a coffee maker on the room but thanks to the hotel location there is plenty coffee places near by.
Location, bed, linen.
The $2 charge to leave the bag seems out of place in a hotel that charges $200+ a night. It is just annoying...
GAVE ME A HANDICAP ROOM AND I AM 21!!! TERRIBLE
Free wifi in rooms
Cleaning staff loud in the mornings. Also if my checkout is at 12pm there's no need to know at 9am, very unnecessary.
No air condition, the hotel solution, open your window.
Great location. Relatively cheap.
The bed is too jumpy The staff is sometimes out of patience The room's wifi costs 15$ per day per device !!! And it's in very low quality. The free lobby wifi is also in very low signal quality.
location right above subway stations
No free WiFi, no coffee maker, no fridge Small lobby relative to the size of this hotel No views whatsoever outside my window. Better keep the curtains closed.
The Doubletree does the trick if you want to stay conveniently in mid-town for a reasonable price. The room is very comfortable although not luxurious. I am a repeat customer and find the overall experience very pleasant.
Vicki at the desk was fantastic. She noticed we only had one queen for the two of us. She said my son should not sleep on the floor and upgraded our room and a free breakfast. Happy thanksgiving!
No coffee in room. Bsthroom too small
BBar too small
I thought that the convenience to the subway to be convenient and the various restaurants nearby were walkable.
The room temperature was way off and I had to have someone try to reduce the heat. It went up to 76 degrees.
Blanket was uncomfortable. Lack of teapot is a minus
Location and cleanliness
The only good thing was the bed and the location cause we wanted to stay close to the UN !
The staff were super rude from the moment I walked in. Don't expect them to say hi or welcome you or even help you with any issues. Taxes are charged for every single night and there's a long Q every time you need to speak to the front desk ! They don't take cash and they'll block extra $250 from your card which will not be back for weeks ! Not recommended due to the complicated policies and unfriendly staff .. I am not exaggerating, the staff never smiled and it felt like I was dealing with soldiers not women !
Location The room
The staff! Receptionist tried to charge us $300 a night even though our reservation clearly said $200 a night. Then she added city tax, state tax and a nightly rate which we were expecting but then she continued to charge an additional $50 deposit per room per night even though we were paying for our stay upon check in!!! Also the concierge tried to charge us $220 each for a Broadway ticket. We refused to pay and later got the same tickets for $37 direct from the box office. Don't stay here unless you want to be robbed!!
Hotel Personnel forcefully impede guests from getting into elevators unless they show room key. Never seen this before, very rude and impersonal. There's got to be a better way. Long lines at front desk any time of day. Feels like an airport terminal. Late check-in, early check-out policy, shouldn't it be other way around?
Restaurants close by
Lack of free Wi-Fi
Great location, easy walk to midtown attractions and Grand Central. Metro station very close. Nice rooms, comfortable and clean.
Expensive breakfast choice in hotel.
If you have a meeting in NYC's main business district -- Midtown East -- you can't do better. Better lobby / lounge facilties, it seems, than most of these narrow slice-of-avenue places.
Cramped rooms, poor temperature control, not much in the way of amenities. Notwithstanding the location in terms of convenience, no views -- the rooms look out on a side street and face an office building.
The hotel is easy to access from subway, E, M, 6 and within walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, lower-east of Central Park, UN..etc. I was in NYC for the New York Marathon and on the race day it's easy to get to the Ferry building, and easy to come back to after the race. I would recommend to travelers.
The Wi-fi is weak & slow, and room can be noisy at night(but this is NY) Breakfast is OK, hot food is not that great so that extra $8 for hot food is not worth it.
Upon arrival, I was handed two cookies and given my room key. I had to ask where it was and despite having stayed there twice before since 2006, I found the hotel looking tired and the "welcome" very very disappointing!
