Location in Lower East Side is perfect- walking distance to Soho, Village and many restaurants and shops. Good value for the price.
Service at reception could be better. Rooms are on the small side, but could be better designed to have more storage space.
Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour around the US. I found the staff friendly and helpful (in fact, on my last night as I was walking in, the receptionist recognised me and asked if I needed a taxi booked for my trip to the airport the last day), the hotel was well located on the corner of Houston and Eldridge (about two blocks from the nearest metro station), and has a nice rooftop terrace.
It's a shame that the room was so small - I was by myself and had enough room for me, but a couple with two suitcases might struggle.
Great location, nice staff
So not worth the price at all!!
The ac was excellent, shower was nice and hot, coffee and tea were excellent.
The room was a little small; will definitely get bigger one next time.
Location! WiFi no prob. Terace on 7th floor. Staff welcome you to bring 'picnic', will help you with bookings of atructions, very helpful and friendly!
The amenities were all I needed and the room was pristine.
Not much other than getting use to that part of NYC
Kind helpful staff, clean rooms with all the amenities, perfect location. Amazing roof top terrace! Would stay again in a New York minute and recommend to travellers!
The location is great Could walk to eveything in the lower east side.
The rooms are very small. But for the price I guess is comparable with NYC.
Tiny rooms but if all your doing in it is sleeping, it's fine
location was very good and the staff was excellent .
the rooms were small with even smaller bathrooms....the price was high but, I do not travel to NYC that much. Had to go to basement for coffee instead of lobby.
We love the staff. They were helpful, patient and knowledgable. The location is very good, being close to Broadway and to Canal Street.
Rooms are small
Great location clean room with great view over NY globaly it was a good stay here, I would come back only with lower price
- room is small given the price - you have to read carefully tax policy because they add 10$/day additional fees per day (on top of taxes and usual fees) : final price is then more expensive compared to official price in booking - bad isolation with the corridor, in the morning you are waken up by a lot of noise from the maids
Stylishly designed and furnished, this hip hotel in the hippest section of New York has a rooftop with a spectacular skyline view of the city. The rooms are of necessity small in this congested neighborhood. Breakfast is included. the staff is right on top of your every necessity. You won't spend much time inside. the attractions are outside the hotel.
The amenities are few. No restaurant or exercise space. Like every other resting place in town, it's incredibly expensive.
The room and bath were comfortable and clean. Just the right size for a good sleep and quick shower while enjoying time visiting the Big Apple ! Staff was delightful. Well priced. Good value.
No vending machine for soda. No ice machine.
The placement of the hotel couldn't be better. You are smack in the middle of the Lower East Side with great restaurants and a Wholefoods right around the corner. You also have the F nearby, so you're both uptown and in Brooklyn in no time. The staff were all lovely people, and the service was very good. We had a double room, so the size was ok.The bathroom had a spacious shower, and was nice and clean. The roof terrace is the best feature of this hotel, excellent! Free coffee and tea is a very nice gesture. For the kind of price I paid, I definitely feel like I got my money's worth, and I can without any doubt recommend this hotel. Have a great stay in New York!
It's a shame it's located on an avenue (a lot of traffic + road work just outside when we were there). The surfaces in the room were kind of dusty (the inside of the closet, didn't feel like putting my clothes inside), and the bed frame not great - frankly it should be changed (please note that I'm excessively clean, so I may be exaggerating). Having the breakfast room in the basement is a bad idea, it isn't very cozy (We never saw anyone eat down there, but when the weather is good you can eat on the roof). It's a shame there isn't a fridge and a safe in the rooms, we were missing that. Also, the pictures in the website are kind of lying, it isn't as beautiful in real life (but I guess this is almost always true).
The staff were so helpful and friendly they went out of there way to help. The location was perfect and the Wholefoods shop nearby was wonderful especially for breakfast I loved going back to the hotel rooftop for breakfast. The shower and the bathroom was spacious and luxurious.
everything was great
amazing and very helpful staff, good location, clean and quick service, nice rooftop
small room and closet, very thin walls, i could hear every noise.
My recent trip marked my 3rd stay at hotel East Houston over the space of 5 years. I am pleased to say that each stay has been more enjoyable than the last. Rooms are acceptable, little on the smaller side but that's never bothered me and bathrooms are always clean and inviting. Staff are great, they offered to arrange my transportation to the airport without me even having to ask. Very professional. Great place that won't break your budget in a cool location.
The rooms are small, but that's typical for NYC. They were clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly. The hotel is close to a lot of fun bars and restaurants, even a Whole Foods. I highly recommend it.
Location great, Price great, Staff very good, Nice roof terrace, Subway 50 feet away, Soho Nolita Little Italy all walking distance
Rooms on small side but you expect this for such a good price, and hardly spent any time there anyway
Hotels in NYC won't be cheap, but Hotel East Houston was a great value. Location -- walking distance to Chinatown, Lower East Side, Soho, East Village. A block away from the subway (15 min to Brooklyn's Carroll Gardens, etc.). Great, vibrant location. We rarely had to take the subway. Room: Small, but we didn't spend much time there (of course). The hotel lobby and rooms are clean and beautiful. Our fellow guests were all couples and polite. Facility staff were remarkably polite. Comes with free wi-fi that is pretty fast! And cable TV. Would highly recommend for a reasonably priced hotel in a FANTASTIC location.
Elevator was a little slow. These are things that didn't bother us, but some people might be worried about: - The side of the bathroom facing the bed was half frosted glass and it was pretty see-through. We thought it was hilarious (you can easily see the person going to the bathroom). - We had no noise, but we were on the 6th floor facing Eldridge street. If noise is a problem for you, request a higher floor that isn't facing East Houston. - Because the room is small, it lacks some amenities other rooms have (an iron, safety deposit box, coffee maker). These are all available in the lobby and basement though.
Great location, helpful staff, and the roof terrace was amazing - even better you could take your own food and drink up there 24/7. Not cheap, but one of the better value options in NY.
Some bits of furniture could do with a bit of a touch-up, many of the tables / chairs had a slightly neglected feel
The location is wonderful. There is so much to do within walking distance and as a solo traveller, I felt safe. The room is on the smaller side, but that didn't bother me. The rooftop terrace that is available at all times is an excellent place to relax and get a view of the City. I stayed 4 nights for work and after requesting a room change for the last night, the manager was kind enough to switch me into a quieter, cleaner room so I could get some well needed rest.
The room that I stayed in was on the 2nd floor, facing the street. Although the windows are double paned, Houston street is a very busy street. During the day, construction is happening right in front of the room and at night, semi trucks speed through all hours of the night, running over steel plates on the ground (from the construction.) It would sound like thunder and be hard to sleep through. The room on the 2nd floor had very worn carpeting and smelled like it use to be a smoking room. Somehow when the AC as on, it blew out a stale mildew and cigarette smoke smell. I bought air freshener and it helped make it tolerable. On the last night I requested to be moved to a different room and it was so much better. Hardwood floors, no smells and less noise transfer because it was on a higher floor.
The hotel room is organized very efficiently. Bathrooms are clean and just the right size. Quiet rooms, even with road construction on the corner. A great place to get some sleep!
