Great location, friendly staff.
Room was tiny, not even a desk to work from, I had to sit on the bed with my laptop on my knees.
I loved the location.
The wifi was not working well. According to hotel staff ISP was giving hassles. So, I guess not their fault, but did detract from my stay.
I had a wonderful stay at Hotel East Houston! The staff was amazing!
The location is brilliant
The wifi was completely useless over the two days, wasn't even enough to download a google map of the area!
Staff is friendly and helpful, my price for single room was very affordable compared to Manhattan hotels with own shower. Room was ok and quiet even facing busy E Houston Street.
Single room is tiny just as at most of NYC hotels.
Rooms very basic. Street noisy. Street dirty not scenic.
Friendly staff. Free (good/fresh) coffee all day.
The bed was awful. I'm not sensitive to a mattress but it was so bad my back hurt every morning. It felt like I was sleeping on the box spring. I do not have muscle or back problems of any type. The Gem up the street is the same price, same style and a little nicer. I would not stay here again based off the bed alone.
Everything was as per website.
Houston St. does stay noisy till about 2am, nice to have street view but back room would have been quieter
Location with all restaurants and shops around the corner. Nice staff.
Beds are hard. Always noicy on Houston street, but road work made it worse this time. No Breakfast anymore, but you have Clinton Street Bakery close for à good start of the day.
Convenient to Chinatown and Little Italy
Bedding is getting a bit tired
Clean room, comfortable lobby
The bed was hard to sleep on needs a new mattress
Clean, safe, helpful staff, coffee available Compact space but clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay there again
As long as price stays below $140
I like the roof top view but for the weather wish they would of had a heater outside, room was cleaned daily ...
I like how this hotel is somewhat homey.meaning I felt like I was home. The staff was great.they answered all my questions And helped me when I needed. VERY clean. Close to the train station and New York City night life.
This is a rare find in New York City - very Reasonably priced, comfortable rooms (if a little small by US standards), very convenient location (for us), and a helpful, friendly staff who helped us with a number or requests. We will be coming back.
Staff were friendly
Needs a restaurant
Loved how helpful the staff was. Love the upstairs roof deck - will have come back in better weather.
I stayed in two different hotels on my last trip (this one in NY, one in Scandinavia) and got bedbugs at one of them. A luggage rack would have been nice so I could have kept my suitcase off of the floor/bed ... but again, I cannot accurately confirm that the critters are from this hotel.
The WIFI is low debit.
The price was amazingly low for so much value. Big room, big windows, amazing breathtaking views, rooftop patio, nicely finished, big bathroom with tile floor to ceiling. Modern amenities such as new alarm clock with an ipod docking station, wall mounted flat screen TV, lighting. Nice wooden floors and wooden furniture. Location was fantastic with plenty of restaurans, bars, stores, shops. Subway was close by. Chinatown and Little Itally were close by. The WTC was walking distance. Staff was very friendly and outgoing for example upon checkout they offered to check our luggage so that we could roam the streets freely before we caught the train back out of town. I requested a room on the higher up floors so that I may have a nice view well I got a corner room on the top floor so I had the BEST view available in the entire building without being on the beautiful rooftop patio. I've never stayed in a room inside of Manhattan that was so large this room had a hallway and room for a desk and comfortable chair, large closet, night stand on each side of the Queen sized bed.
Although extremely comfortable the only way the room could've been better was if the bed was a Kingsized pillow top and if the sheets and comforter were high count Egyptian cotton. The wall mounted flat screen television that I never even turned on because the views out the oversized windows were so stunning could have been bigger.
If the construction wasn't going on it would have been a decent location. Staff was friendly. The bed was horrible with equally bad sheets and cover. Room was ok but I will not go back.
The bed and covers!
Location was great. I chose it for its proximity to my work site. There is a nice movie theatre a block away and a Whole Foods two blocks away for sundries. The area itself is full of bars restaurants etc.
The WIFI was intermittent at best. Kind of drive me nuts.
Location great - lots of great restaurants, subway around the corner. Bed was comfortable.
Hated the glass wall between the bedroom and bathroom. Glad it wasn't a romantic weekend away with a new person, would have been really embarrassing to use the toilet.
The hotel was better than I expected based on the feedbacks of others. The Metro station is literally round the corner. Very historical and picturesque Orchard street and the crossing streets in the walking distance. Very interesting view from the rooftop indeed. Through the room is very small as described by many, but for a single traveler it was enough and the bathroom had enough space in comparison. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
There is nothing like a bar or anything except for coffee room. My room was not really well cleaned - I moved the bed and discovered layers of dust. The air condition system is very special and noisy - it was blowing directly onto the bed. But overall this is a decent hotel to stay at. A, and be prepared for the city tax on your bill, which is huge:-)
