The Junior suite was larger than expected -my wife and 9 year old twins fit comfortably. Lots of good inexpensive - for ny - restaurants within walking distance. I really like the location, east mid-town, we spent one day in lower Manhattan near the Brooklyn Bridge and trader towers, one day in upper Manhattan near the Museum of Natural History, then we hit Times Square on the way to the Statue of Liberty and ellis island on day three. A few simple and inexpensive subway rides made getting to things very easy. I liked the neighborhood. Felt safe while walking around the whole time, and it's not as busy as the time square area. Would definitely stay here again. For the price ( we paid less than 200 per day for a 4 day stay) I was surprised, the hotel and room amenities were in good shape, a little dated, but overall far better than I expected for ny, If you're looking for a quality hotel that isn't super expensive this hotel is a great value. Staff at check in and check out were a little slow. Would have liked an express check out option but otherwise we liked the hotel a lot

We chose this hotel based primarily on price and location with some lowered expectations from previous reviews. We were very pleasantly surprised by what we got which was ideal for us. We didn't need anything grand but had a homely appartment with plenty of room (we were upgraded to the Junior). The kitchen was basicly equipped but we made good use of the coffee maker. The bathroom ws clean and pleasant to use. The main bedroom was very large and provided a god living area which would have been very good for a family. I would happily return or recomend to a friend I would love to see free Wi-Fi - once again this hotel had high charges so I went to a local Starbucks instead. It would have been a huge bonus to have been able to use free Wi-Fi from the room.

This is my fourth time in ny and this hotel was the best in every way, location- 10 mins walk to Grand Central, Macy's, Lexington, easy access to the main areas. Standard of room and comfort level excellent and really great staff, some of whom remembered my name - now that's professionalism!

Rooms were very spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was great too. The location was good, only a few blocks away from Times Square and Grand Central Station, plus if you're looking for 'easy' food, there are a few small restaurants nearby on 3rd Avenue. The staff were also very friendly and were happy to answer any questions. No free internet/wifi, however, you can check-in online and print out your boarding pass for free.

Good value for nyc, helpful and friendly staff, lots of space and everything functioned well, quiet location, full kitchen and bathroom, easy access to tunnel and airports. The in room wireless at $40 for the week was good value and worked very well. The decor is basic and a bit industrial (steel drawers and cupboard doors in the kitchen that shut with a metallic boom); a heater that clanked into life at 3 am on some nights (but it also kept the room comfortable through a very cold winter week), somewhat cursory housekeeping. Scandalous phone charges - I know we're all warned about this but sometimes you have to, and to be charged $15 for a two minute call to the uk is the closest I've come to being mugged in nyc.

They were very hospitable and gave me a free upgrade on New Years Eve night to a suite which accommodated my friends and was amazing! Nothing really . . The only thing that was kind of annoying was the long wait for the elevators, but it was new years eve so its understandable.

Location was a priority and with Grand Central close by this hotel proved acceptable. It is on the edge of the more touristy areas of New York which was a bonus...quieter, numerous eateries, deli/supermarkets, living amongst the locals but within easy reach of Times Square, Fifth Avenue, un Building and many other iconic buildings. Kitchenette was a bonus for breakfast and if wanting to dine in and kick back after a full day of touring. Initial room had a bed I doubt a hobo would even claim....was sorted with a change of room. As hotel is in amongst many high rises room was quite dark and internal lights helped little to improve matters. Rooms are of a good size, some of the biggest we experienced.

Loved this place! We've been to New York 4 times before and always stayed in hotels - Eastgate Tower was by far the best! The self catering option was brilliant! Save loads of money this way. We had a 2 room suite - came with 2 bathrooms, a huge huge living room (which also had a pull out double bed), dining room and kitchen. Excellent service! Would highly recommend.

Hotel was perfect position for our stay as we were watching squash in grand central every evening. It was also convenient for some of the main sites we wanted to see central park chrysler building empire state times square The web site was misleading I booked room with 2 double beds for 4 people and when I arrived it was only booked for 1 person. I was told that I must have missed putting the number of guests. Why would I book 2 double beds for 1 person . I was then asked to pay extra for my family for the four night stay.

Great hotel for the value. Older building, but clean. Spacious and bright. Radiator did not work in master bedroom. Phones were messed up, saying we were in a different room number than we were.

Location was very convenient, close to grand central for subway travel but also walkable distance from several tourist attractions. Had a suite with kitchen facilites. All the main necessisties were included and this was very useful to save money on food. Beds could have been more comfortable. There was a vent/heater in the room which would still be blowing when switched off. The noise was a bit irritating at night and the air when off was quite cool but as it was winter I wanted heat but if you turned it on to heat there was intermittent clicking noises.

Large apartments with all facilities including dishes, coffee, micro- waves, large fridge and hoover. Nice dinner table for 4 people and comfortable living room area. Comfortable mattress. Excellent location, 5min walk to Grand Central Terminal. Restaurants and convenience store nearby. Old-fashioned designed room. Very expensive internet (either wireless or in the hotel's computer) which is not easily acceptable nowadays (we had to go to Starbucks often...).

Really good big serviced studio apartment, was able to cook if we liked, supermarket just down the road, right near Grand Central, awesome location, reasonable price, pick of all the value priced hotels we stayed in Nothing - maybe the gym might be crowded if there were a few people there, and the exercycle was a little old....

The location was great, I needed to be between 42nd street and 44th street, somewhere near 4th avenue, so it was perfect for what I needed. The price was reasonable and gave value for money. The room was comfortable and had quite a bit of extra space which I like. I purchased internet and it was not up to standard. It periodically cut me out and I had to sign in again, it was slower than I would expect to pay for and there was one particular website that I could not use because it was simply too slow.

“It is located only a few blocks from Grand Central station which made travel very easy. The rooms are huge, relative to the cost and location in manhattan and the hotel staff was very friendly. The hotel has an older feel but it is maintained well enough that it isnt a problem” William, West Point |
