The kitchen facilities, stove, fridge, microwave, sink are there, but no vent, and no counter space (as in zero counter space). Very limited pans to work with, or oven dishes to use. Its possible to cook family meals, but you might need to summon your inner MacGyver. Toaster didnt work, had to put coffee pot on the floor since cord didnt reach when it was placed on the only table, and there wasnt any space in the kitchenette area, unless it was placed in the sink. Some people might not like four flights of narrow stairs, but it was fine for us. Some people might not like how warm and stuffy it is, and no control of the thermostat, but we just opened the doors/windows and turned the window AC units on (Thermostat set as low as it would go, Inside temps 80F+, March temps outside 30-40F).
The location was great, just north of Houston , off 2nd Ave. The subway access was a block away and made the rest of the city easily accessible. The apartment was comfortable, 2 bathrooms is great for a family with older kids (15,17). Whole foods grocery right around the corner, very convenient, lots of restaurant possibilities within walking distance.
