Econo Lodge Gurnee  

It was cheap. As my mom always say, you get what you pay for. It was okay just to have a place to sleep and shower. Nothing special, they served continental breakfast every morning.

Stayed two nights, couldn't get towels for next day. Waffle batter in cups didn't fill waffle iron to make a whole waffle. Beds are lumpy, but I was so tired each night that it had no problem sleeping. Towel bars are broken and bar in shower was missing.

Location

I only got internet service a couple of times. Most of the time I couldn't connect to the network. It was very frustrating.

Very economic compared to other hotels in the area. They had my room prepared for me early.

They didn't have recycling.

The room I asked for was supposed to be non smoking. We checked in at 11:30 at night so we were so tired basically fell into bed. When we woke up, we found cigarette burns in our sheets, on the tub, the whole room smelled like stale cigarettes. The floor looked like it had never been vacuumed. The hair dryer plug was broken and taped back together.

I really enjoyed the hard work ethic of the staff. They were always busy, helpful and made use of their time. Everyone was organized and hard working. I saw no idleness. The manager helped me with printing my boarding pass, as I was without a printer. I wish I remembered his name but he was a middle aged man of Indian decent. He was nice and helpful. The building is older but was clean and well kept.

I am a non-smoker and I don't know what the law is in Illinois, but the building had a very strong smoke odor. It appeared to me that it was ok to smoke in the building. Our room was mild, but if smoking is allowed in a building, there is really no non-smoking rooms. This would be the only negative that I observed. Thanks for a nice stay.

The prices!

Truthfully I chose the Econo Lodge because it's really close to RTC (Recruit Training Command) in Great Lakes and the price for lodging was hard to beat. Also it's a few seconds from Highway 41. There's a lot of restaurants in the area as well.

the breakfast equipment did not work and therefore we did not have breakfast every day although we were charged for it. we were in non smoking rooms as requested but smelled of previous smokers and had burnt marks in the bath rooms and the linen had burnt marks and the rooms were not very clean. advertised there were supposed to have swimmong pool and gym facilities but were not available when we arrived and could not be located . and the american credit card billing system at econo lodge is different to anywhere elese in the USA as they were billing my credit card constantly and now i that i have returned to my country i have a problem with the credit card with double billings and waiting for refunds also we were charged an additional $1.00 per day per room for a miscallaneous tax unknown total $20-00 also not credited - not very pleasant as a whole - the only convenience was the location

Unable to receive outside phone calls directly to my room. Really bad coffee.

They would not clean your room at all unless you actually told them to and even them they still didn't

Had dirty sheets had to request new sheet. Bed was not comfortable

Smelled and was stuffy, rooms were dirty including really nasty bath tub. Breakfast was not great, milk and juice were not cold. Overall I was not happy at all with my stay there!
