everything ( two nights) the best thing would be to bulldoze this place and start again, Ed liked a joke and that certainly applied to this hotel, paid in advance for the first night no time to search for anywhere else take my advice and stay well clear.
Grimy table/night stand surfaces, dried up food particles in crevices on counter top area - giving caution to cleanliness of the bed. If you're considering Ed & Ellen's, forget it.
the location internet the room
cold water for shower
Location, friendly staff
Bugs on wall, shower, comfort of bed.
The facilities were clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy. Right for the price. Ed is a character. We would definitely go back.
Loved the quaint location. Very small charming building. Looked as though there's only a handful of rooms and Ed was very personable with us.
Parking was a bit limited (only three spots I recall out front, possibly more out back?). Decor was a bit outdated, but I guess that's what we payed for! Much of the Florida keys reflects that style though.
Owner lives directly next to the lodge so we could check in late spontaneously. We had a fun talk with Ed and he recommended us a nice diner for breakfast right across the street.
There were quite a lot of ants in our room. Only the weather channel worked. The photos didn't fit with the actual room...
Hard to find
Close to John Pennekamp National Park. You get what you pay for.
Room needed updating, ceiling fans wobbled, room dark, bad carpet, no light above bath mirror. No chairs to sit in other than stools at kitchen table. Blood on bed sheet.
Ed and Ellen are very nice people The room was very spacious and had everything you needed
Were not able to see the ocean
The owners were responsive to our needs and very friendly. Their location was close to all the attractions and beaches including John Pennekamp State Park. We would stay here again!
Everything is very very old.
Ed and Ellen are very hospitable, friendly and helpful. Good enough location. Convenient to all attraction, i.e, John Pennekamp State Park and other. Great value for the money! Nothing fancy but accommodation were fine: quiet, room was good, TV, AC and WiFi fine. No complaingts
Can't complain for the value. If you are looking for a hotel experience, this is not the place. Otherwise, stay put and enjoy.
Owners are very nice beds are comfortable Wi-Fi is a good speed Aging building but well kept
Appearance. Nothing modern. Not very clean. Beds not comfortable. Wouldn't dare get under covers. Need to upgrade rooms. Way behind times.
Got charged twice for room however when brought to owners attention owner took care of it immediately.rooms run down
I was disapointed at first, the picture on the internet showed a white building. But when I arrived at the Lodging it was a brown building. But after meeting the Owner in person I became qauint with the humble house. :)
The shower; The water pressure was low and it took awhile to rinse the shampoo out of my hair.
When you can sit down and have a BEER with the owner, it is a good place. Location
Nothing. It suited me.
Great down home Mom and Pop place! Very nice people. A real Keys experience.
location, close to us 1 comfortable beds very big.
could not connect with wi fi, ac was too loud couldn't sleep had to shut off ac then later turn it on, old style tv not digital, cable box no direct tv or att..
I liked that we're the hotel was everything was near it restraunts and stores
Very low key and no frills! Great outdoor space to BBQ outside.
Needed an inexpensive place to stay in the Keys and Ed & Ellen's fit the bill. No frills, but comfortable beds and everything you need.
value for money location Ed and Ellen
difficult to see from road coming in from Miami
Closeness to John Pennekamp State Park.
We were scheduled to stay 2 nights. We found the place antiquated, dingy with mismatched furnishings. The mattress on my bed was terribly stained, the box springs outer cover was so old it was torn. The sheets were gray and the AC was old and VERY noisey. I ended up with a major set of bug bites. We left after one night. The owner would not refund the money for the 2nd night. Save your money. This would be a good place to avoid.
