The accommodations are so warm and inviting and the staff is so very helpful, especially Lou Ellen. My adult daughter and I had a birthday weekend together (I turned 58) and the Albemarle Inn was PERFECT. The breakfast is outstanding and Rosemary is such a wonderful proprietor. The Inn is spotless and we felt so pampered. Would totally recommend.
No elevator for luggage, but we needed the exercise and it was worth it
The house and decor made you feel as though you were stepping back in time. The owner and staff were wonderful . Very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast excellent. You won't need anything else to eat the remainder of day!!
No dislikes or complaints!
The grand staircase is breathtaking. Rosemary's cooking was so delicious! My husband is gluten free and she was very accommodating - she even heated up leftover steak for steak and eggs one morning. We were there for Thanksgiving weekend and Rosemary made dinner - we had other plans - but it was an incredibly thoughtful thing to do for the guests who didn't realize so many restaurants would be closed. She really went the extra mile and the meal smelled incredible. Our room was lovely and so quiet - coming from NYC is was the perfect retreat. The neighborhood is gorgeous! Be sure to take a drive or walk around. The location is great! Besides the cute neighborhood, downtown is only 5 minutes away. Ablemarle and Asheville was a perfect getaway and we can't wait to visit again!
This is an old and lovely property, but the bathrooms could use a bit of remodeling. I think Rosemary said they are in the process of remodeling, but it's hard because the house is a historic landmark. Everything was perfectly fine, just keep your expectations in check - not the place for a spa bath.
The inn was a lovely home in a very good location for downtown Asheville. The hosts were most helpful and welcoming and the breakfasts while different from the norm were quite delicious. Would recommend this inn to anyone visiting Asheville.
Nothing that I didn't like.
Great architecture. Impeccably kept. Attentive and courteous staff
Loved the style and comfort of the house. Breakfast was good. Owners were friendly and helpful.
Beautiful house and property
Weird WEIRD husband and wife owners who literally gave me the stink eye EVERY time I encountered them. Not only me but my friends who also stayed there. My friend upon checking in said he was 30 seconds from just asking if they'd prefer he not stay there...especially when the wife said him, "Oh you have a child with you..." Weird and overpriced. Felt like I was sneaking around just trying to avoid contact with both owners.
Lovely relaxing atmosphere and great charm
This was my first b&b experience and when I initially made my reservation I was skeptical after reading a complainy pants review. I'm happy to say I made the right decision by staying at the Albemarle. The house itself has historic charm and intrigue with no sacrifices of modern comforts. The environment is elegant and relaxed. The house-keepers are the most accommodating people I have ever met (but NOT overbearing at all). Breakfast wasn't biscuits and gravy, which you can get ANYWHERE in NC, it was much better! Restaurant style, so you can be private with your significant other. I can't say enough about how awesome the Albemarle was. 5 Stars. Don't waste your money to sleep at the Omni which is walking distance away. You can still visit for dinner!
I regretted not booking an extra night here!! Our vacation ended in Charlotte which was boring in comparison.
The location was in an up-scale neighborhood, a pleasure for walks and enjoyment of the homes and beautiful trees and flowers. The setting of the B&B was castle-like. A grand hide-away with delicious food. Rooms were stunning and we enjoyed relaxing on the huge porch during the sunset or showers. We stayed 2 nights and wished it was 2 months!
No central air but the window units were fine. No elevator but the stairways were so gracious, it was a pleasure to ascend!
Wonderful breakfasts! Owners were vacationing so we were cared for by hired house sitters who did a very good job.
We were in a suite which had a wonderful updated bathroom. However, the room was on the third floor and stayed humid. When leaving the room the rest of the house was not air conditioned and became very hot. While out during the day housekeeping would turn our room unit off which caused us to return to a very hot room taking several hours to cool off.
Convenience. Wonderful staff. Delicious breakfast.
Window air conditioner in 3rd floor room was inadequate. No AC in public spaces. We 'll return when the weather is cool,
We enjoyed the grand decor of the historic home. It was easy to imagine the enjoyment of the families that had lived there. We were impressed with the beautiful architecturial design inside and outside. A five star B&B indeed!!!!
The breakfast was a little disappointing. Would have preferred something other than pancakes.
Our room was not pre-cooled for our arrival
Wonderful breakfasts, warm hospitality in a historic mansion conveniently located in a beautiful neighborhood
Beautiful and charming! The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful!
Slanted floor in bath was tricky. Several bugs on walls and ceiling.
Very gracious and welcoming. Beautiful setting.
Beautiful furnishings, friendly staff, delicious breakfast.
I can't think of a thing I didn't like!
The service was exemplary. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed warmly and treated as if we were honored guests in someone's home. I've never had better service in a hotel!
The staff was exceptional. First bed & breakfast experience was great. The meals were fantastic.
Next time I'll upgrade to a bigger room. The bathroom ceiling is a little lower than I had hoped for. My husband and I banged our head on the ceiling a few times. I wish there was a picture of the bathroom on the site.
