Beautiful house and property
Weird WEIRD husband and wife owners who literally gave me the stink eye EVERY time I encountered them. Not only me but my friends who also stayed there. My friend upon checking in said he was 30 seconds from just asking if they'd prefer he not stay there...especially when the wife said him, "Oh you have a child with you..." Weird and overpriced. Felt like I was sneaking around just trying to avoid contact with both owners.
Lovely relaxing atmosphere and great charm
This was my first b&b experience and when I initially made my reservation I was skeptical after reading a complainy pants review. I'm happy to say I made the right decision by staying at the Albemarle. The house itself has historic charm and intrigue with no sacrifices of modern comforts. The environment is elegant and relaxed. The house-keepers are the most accommodating people I have ever met (but NOT overbearing at all). Breakfast wasn't biscuits and gravy, which you can get ANYWHERE in NC, it was much better! Restaurant style, so you can be private with your significant other. I can't say enough about how awesome the Albemarle was. 5 Stars. Don't waste your money to sleep at the Omni which is walking distance away. You can still visit for dinner!
I regretted not booking an extra night here!! Our vacation ended in Charlotte which was boring in comparison.
The location was in an up-scale neighborhood, a pleasure for walks and enjoyment of the homes and beautiful trees and flowers. The setting of the B&B was castle-like. A grand hide-away with delicious food. Rooms were stunning and we enjoyed relaxing on the huge porch during the sunset or showers. We stayed 2 nights and wished it was 2 months!
No central air but the window units were fine. No elevator but the stairways were so gracious, it was a pleasure to ascend!
Wonderful breakfasts! Owners were vacationing so we were cared for by hired house sitters who did a very good job.
We were in a suite which had a wonderful updated bathroom. However, the room was on the third floor and stayed humid. When leaving the room the rest of the house was not air conditioned and became very hot. While out during the day housekeeping would turn our room unit off which caused us to return to a very hot room taking several hours to cool off.
Convenience. Wonderful staff. Delicious breakfast.
Window air conditioner in 3rd floor room was inadequate. No AC in public spaces. We 'll return when the weather is cool,
We enjoyed the grand decor of the historic home. It was easy to imagine the enjoyment of the families that had lived there. We were impressed with the beautiful architecturial design inside and outside. A five star B&B indeed!!!!
The breakfast was a little disappointing. Would have preferred something other than pancakes.
Our room was not pre-cooled for our arrival
Wonderful breakfasts, warm hospitality in a historic mansion conveniently located in a beautiful neighborhood
Beautiful and charming! The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful!
Slanted floor in bath was tricky. Several bugs on walls and ceiling.
Very gracious and welcoming. Beautiful setting.
Beautiful furnishings, friendly staff, delicious breakfast.
I can't think of a thing I didn't like!
The service was exemplary. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed warmly and treated as if we were honored guests in someone's home. I've never had better service in a hotel!
The staff was exceptional. First bed & breakfast experience was great. The meals were fantastic.
Next time I'll upgrade to a bigger room. The bathroom ceiling is a little lower than I had hoped for. My husband and I banged our head on the ceiling a few times. I wish there was a picture of the bathroom on the site.
Had to wait a little too long for breakfast.
The hostess Rosemary was very kind and accomodating. She helped us with dinner reservations and did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable. The rest of the staff was great too.
Check and be sure exactly which room you are getting. Ours was quite small, but we booked on the web and didn't ask closely. There are nicer rooms available than the one we had - you just have to ask.
Loved the elegance, the terrace, the mountain air, historic surrounding properties, proximity to downtown and the Biltmore estate. Food was great, service was great, very comfortable beds.
That we didn't get to stay longer!
Very beautiful inn and the staff was very helpful and sweet..
Clean and well appointed rooms. Great house.
Service was good but not great. Didn't really go the extra mile like some B&B's. Pillows on the bed were all one softness rather than having an assortment.
The setting. Old, elegant, picturesque, romantic.
