We stayed there twice within 3 weeks. The first room we had was smaller than the second one - but rooms are generally small. Perfectly ok, as you will be outside most of the time, but don't look for a lot of space to hang up your clothes/park your toilettries.
It's a cozy, very affordable hotel (rare to find in San Francisco) with a great staff who makes you feel welcome the minute you step in. Good location on Market Street, close to hip surrounding areas (i.e. Valencia street or Hayes with many restaurants/bars
The windows are old and the street is busy. If you're a light sleeper, I advise asking the desk for a fan BEFORE they go home for the night. No safe in the room, and I doubt one is on premise. Not a problem since I was taking my laptop everywhere with me.
Great location: not scary, near a BART, a 20 minute trip from OAK. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly. The bathrooms are nicely updated.
The restroom and shower were outside the bedroom.
Cleanliness, quaint and friendly staff. Especially Ellan, informative and welcoming.
Too warm in room with radiator making noises all night. Area full of homeless although they very nice
Receptionist was most helpful, room really clean and well decorated. Good to get about from here
Friendly staff and good tips Clean room and nice decoration Safe neighborhood Good location
It was very nice, but much smaller than I expected and we had to use a key to get into our bathroom across the hall. It seemed a little more like a hostel than a hotel. The noise from the street was bothersome at night.
The location is great. The F line down to the Wharf is right across the street. The Whole Foods grocery store is just a 5 min walk up the street.
We came back to our room and the heat was on so high we could not even breathe, when we asked for it to be turned off she advised us to turn it off ourself and when we told her there was no turn off valve she got upset and then said she would have to do it downstairs then. We then asked that the heat not be turned on in our room at all and we were told ok. The next night after we were asleep the heat came on at 11:00 and it was awful, called again same rude girl answered phone as night before and we went through the same thing. This girl has not customer service skills.
Darin was very helpful, always willing to answer any questions. I felt he went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable.
Our room was facing the vent of the restaurant Zuni next door. We can smell all the smokes from the vent. We requested for a room change and the staff was very helpful.
I like the staff. They are super nice and friendly and helpful.
The traffic noise. The noise from the downstairs wine bar . The shower not working and NO MORNING COFFEE being made because staff did not show for work . Also the night manager did not answer his calls about broken shower !
The Friday evening attendent was very helpful !
Very loud in the morning. Shower and toilet not in the room.
Super friendly staff. Good public transportation. 5 min to union square. Nice restaurants in the area. Clean and stylish rooms.
Staff , information and comfort bed
Is not the most spacious hotel, but it does the job perfectly. The street is very central though a lot of homeless people, but that's all around SFO.
The staff was fantastic, everyone was extremelly kind! The location was very central. And the hotel was very very clean.
The Edwardian SF hotel is a really nice little place in a cool part of town. I loved the decor of our room and the awesome old Edwardian lift!. The best bit though were the staff. Darren gave us a super in depth guide to the city which was invaluable for helping us enjoy our short stay there. He's rad :)
The hotel itself isn't as well put together as we'd like. We were moved from two different rooms because of smoke flowing through the window from the restaurant below, and then the final room we were in was extremely noisy because of windows needing to be open to the main road next to it, and no A/C to cool the room. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and tried to make it work. But we ended up cutting the stay there short and moved to another hotel.
The staff was great and very accommodating! Made the one night we stayed very enjoyable.
I don't think there was air conditioning and it was kind of hot. We opened the window and flies started coming in.
Location is great, staff if friendly.
If you are noise or light sensitive, bring ear plugs and eye patch or ask for a room in the back, in front room you see sunrise and hear beautiful but noisy F tram passing by.
we knew location was perfect, Ellen, Darren and the other guys helped us to have the best SF 4 days visit possible.
The room was very small--no closet or chest of drawers--and the bed was only a double, which is all there was room for. Our room was in the front, and there was considerable noise from Market St.
Location, value, cleanliness, staff courtesy.
I only stayed for one evening. I was breaking up journey from Sydney to Ireland. I just needed to rest. I have been to SF many times so I didn't require any info. Darren was welcoming, let me check in well before check in time. Anytime I was near the reception area he was giving tourist info, restaurant recommendations, he was sincere, friendly and had a genuine in his guests needs. The room was basic but stylish, minimalist but very comfortable. I would return without hesitation!
I loved everything about this hotel. Location was perfect and covent to get the F car, the staff working the front desk was very helpful and very friendly. i will definitely stay here again on my next visit. Very clean and cozy.
We asked for a room with 2 beds and a bathroom In the room. We were told we got "upgraded" to a third person room which ended up being a bunk bed and a shower room and a bathroom across the hall even though it was exclusively ours its not what we requested
It was clean and the employees were friendly and helpful
Really lovely staff
The curtains didn't keep out the sunlight, making it hard to sleep in the morning.
The rooms were small, but I liked the bright colors, cleanliness, and personal bathroom. We had very attentive staff and the fellow guests were quiet. A short walk away from bars and restaurants. Great for seeing the city. Free wifi.
Took awhile for hot water but wasn't a big deal. The bathroom tile floor was slippery after a steamy shower! They needed more floor mats for sure. We were near a bath room and shower room that was shared and it was very noisy when people used it at 530am (just think snot rocket and jingling keys).
The bed, bathroom was a great size, funky elevator! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though parking was $15/day extremely close.
The noise from Market street, but it's the city. It's to be expected.
My husband had surgery so we needed a place that he could recover comfortably, the staff was great at helping us with any needs we needed. And we loved how well the old building is in such great shape and very clean.
The hotel is very quirky and quaint. The Front Desk personnel were especially helpful, friendly, and all around awesome. All the restaurants and shops they suggested we visit were wonderful, and lived up to our expectations.
