I liked the whole athmosphere. The fact that there is no breakfast served, no safe and no aircondition is fully compensated by a very serviceminded and helpful staff, always there to give good advices when asked. This refers in particular to any questions asked about things to see/experience. There are bakeries within a block or two and a winebar next door, a good variety of restautrants in the neighbourhood. And - towels are changed every day, fresh coffee in the lobby. I'd be more than happy to visit again.
Staff And room accoutrements
cheap a street car stop just in front of the hotel easy access to the center of the city
no air conditioner taking ages for running the hot water in the bathroom(actually never comes hot water but either cold or lukewarm one)
Not in a great part of town. The rooms were small and it had not bedside night lights. A poor view of the roof top of the building.
hotel staff were informative and friendly.
no AC or fan. luckily it was cool outside so I opened the window. But, then I got local restaurant noises.
Loved the staff and the facility. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Loved the colorful walls and simple surroundings.
Would have been nice to have a luggage rack so we didn't have to bend over to get into our luggage. Our room faced the street so couldn't open the window to enjoy the night air.
Staff was amazing! Great location.
The room had black smoke coming in all night long like sleeping on the roof of a steam train. Terrible. Their was no water in the room so bad on the old headache. Gotta call to get in if after 2am.
The staff was helpful.
Window did not have a lock on it. Complimentary tea was Luke warm. Room very small.
Relatively cheap hotel. Clean rooms. Very friendly people at the reception.
The rooms are very small but that is ok for 1-2 nights. The area where the hotel is located is not very good. The number of homeless people that are out in the street tremendous and is sooo sad.
Hotel staff is kind and obliging - gave us excellent directions and advices to explore the city and its nightlife.
The staff were very helpful and knowledgable
Hot water was a bit of a downer
It's very convenient located .
The noise from the street was a bit bothering. I didn't have hot water in the room where I stayed first time . No one wa answering the phone at the front desk for a good two hours when I called to complain . Well it was late ...
No issues with hot water as some others had reported. Beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Elevator was broken on our last day and no one was around to check us out.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was nice and clean and very Victorian.
The area where the hotel was situated was not very safe, a lot of homeless people around and also people very much under the influences of substances on the street nearby and on the tram journey.
The amenities are great, especially the 24-hour coffee/tea, water bottles, and internet. The gym is much nicer than a lot of hotel gyms and the staff is very helpful. They also have a free yoga kit that you can borrow so you can do yoga in your room! The bed was really comfortable and everything was very clean. The room was quiet. Location is excellent to everything you want to see as a tourist.
If I had to nitpick, the bathroom could have used a fresh coat of paint and was a little small for two people. There was no view, just of the brick wall next door. If you care about any of those things, that would be an issue (I don't). None of those things bothered me considering the rate was reasonable and the hotel perfectly suited my needs. If I were to come to Chicago again, I might consider their Wacker Drive location as it was a little more centrally located to the north part of townwhere we ended up spending more time.
No hot water and they could do nothing about it (staff) Walls are so thin you heard from your neighbours. Very difficult to sleep. Location is so bad. Be careful some homeless people could enter with you in the hostel late night. Do not come if you have children.
Unfortunately, nothing at all.
Very small room. had to put luggage in bathroom. no closet. No airco or fan. Could not sleep because old windows without isolation that did not close properly. Daylight is not blocked from room. No light @ bathroom mirror. Nobody @ reception @ 9am and nobody @ reception @ 10pm with door closed and keys not available. Request to change room was not even open for discussion. when arriving back @hotel @ 11.20am for checkout after queueing @Avis office for 99min, reception already contacted booking.com that they would charge an extra day!!!!!! This is an old building with just a new layer of paint and absolutely the worst service ever. So sorry to go through this experience. These people have no clue how to run a hotel!!!!!
Toilets and bathroom outside the room and séparated . We had to use 3 keys . The noise everery morning of the garbage truck . it's the worse place I met. For $ 159 per night without breakfast it's à swindle
Quirky hotel.. Great staff who helped us relocate after a booking error.. Even gave us a night free for the inconvenience.. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thanks Ellen.. :)
Staff were reasonably helpful.
Did not have a hot shower - hot water tap only produced cold water. Was advised that the plumbers who had installed the shower had made a mistake. This mistake should have been rectified at once.
I loved the colorful rooms.
Small room, one bed for my son and I, and no air conditioning! It was hot, cramped and very overpriced! Not worth it.
High price , no fridge , no facilities ( hair dryer etc)
The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The location was good for this excursion, but Market St is not a travel friendly area. Very comfortable bed.
Building is very old, but not all that charming. Room was very claustrophobic. Shower did not work, and the water was only warm anyway.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms nicely decorated. Muni stop right outside
Our room smelled badly of smoke on our first night it was fine on our second night we could even open the window but on the third and fourth night it was back though not as bad as the Sunday.
Style of room, staff friendliness, small size bourique hotel
Noise: impossible to sleep in one stretch, poor windows which do not filter noise, shower: sometimes no hot water, no (fluctuating) pressure, small beds
