The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. There is absolutely no counter space in the bathroom for anything. It's just a sink in the corner and only had use of the edges around the sink. We had to sit most of our bathroom items on the floor while using them. The heater was from about 1960 and imbedded in the wall and we couldn't see any marking on how to use it so we left it alone. The shower is so small that it felt like we were showering in a coffin standing on end with no room to move around. If you're over 6' good luck using it. The tv was at least 15 - 20 years old. We needed a room with 2 beds and the second bed was in the back corner blocking a door that lead out to a back lot. Limited amount of wall plugs available and none easily accessible. This could be a really nice place but it is in serious need of remodeling and upgrading.
The only thing I liked about this place was that is was close to where I needed to be and it was a little cheaper then other places in the area

nothing around it

poor upkeep. it was slowing falling apart (lights, bathroom fixtures, etc) relatively clean, but beds and floor hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time,
Location was good.

No free continental breakfast Can't adjust shower head spray to make it stream out instead of spraying out like a mist. Small TV
Comfortable bed, clean room, quiet, good internet speed.

It began with entrance to the "office"---a sliding glass door opening to a "living room" of a family's residence. The greeter, a quite unusual appearing woman (30's), spoke broken English with heavy Spanish accent. She looked around for my reservation, and did finally locate it. I was becoming nervous about all of it, but it was getting later in the evening and so I asked to see the room. It actually looked OK so I said I would check in. When I presented my credit card she mumbled something about not having used the machine lately and began searching around for the credit card device. She had also told me there would be a $50 deposit for the night. About then the husband (I'm guessing) came into the room and assisted her with the credit card device. He also waived the $50 fee. A nice, OK guy. So I was set, and then asked where the ice machine was located. Sorry, no ice. But oh, there is a small fridge in your room but you'll need to plug it in. And, oh, you'll need to plug in the TV and coffee maker as well. After several minutes he showed up with a couple plastic ice cube trays from somewhere with some partial, old ice cubes. Saying they hadn't been used lately, so the ice had mostly "gone away". I thanked him. The parking area was ancient asphalt that was unmarked or striped. The fluorescent sign along the country road was lighted but paint was peeling from it. Amazingly there were a few other guests staying there that night. Like me, they probably just needed a bed to rest that night. Believe it or not I had visions of the "Bates Motel". Enough said: You get what you pay for.
When I departed in the morning.

no a/c. bed was stiff and made loud noises when I moved. The maid would not leave a fresh drinking glass. I stayed four days, the two glasses that were there when I arrived lasted the first two days, then she would not leave any more. Everything needed replacement, carpet, tile, tub, toilet and sink. Walls needed paint.
The price. Room was clean.

Too many to list . My bed I could feel the springs. Very old and no Airconditioning which was uncomfortable. All they had was a fan. The most important things is that there is a room next to the bathroom which is locked and can not be opened from the hotel room. There is also no way to lock that shut door from the room which makes me nervous that someone could come in from the other side of that door. Safety!!!!!!'Management said that nobody is available between 12pm-7am at which time the office stays closed. We had to return in the afternoon to pick up our deposit after we left at 5:30am for our family function.(since office still closed at 5:30am) the office stuff who checked us in did not give us a receipt after payment. We had to come back after realizing they did not hand us any receipt at which time she filled up one. She had to keep talking to the someone else on the phone to answer us every time we had a question. She apologize saying that she had to ask the manager because she doesn't know and that her job is to clean the rooms. The ice machine does not work because they said there's a drought. Bar in shower is missing and is needed for safety.
I could not find find any positive things as it was not professional at all.i would not recommend this and I was disappointed with booking. Com for even having this on their site as an option.

It is old and looks old. The sign outside needs urgent paint. I did not like the 50 dollars deposit that I have to remind them to get it back.
It was quiet and a good value for the money.

Where to start. The location is dead on the main road into town. The rooms are very small. And, there are no extras.(Bed, table, chair) The people were nice, but there was no way they could make up for the overall disaster of El Rancho
There was little to recommend the motel. With the Concorse d'Elagance going on, it was the only room for more than 30 miles. At $289 for two nights, it was 750 cheaper than anything else. Generally you would not want to zpend more than $40 a night.

no microwave, but we did not ask for one.
At first we thought "were in the **** are we? This place is an older but up to date motel and it does sell out quick. It is off the beaten path and in the country, but it so close to the beach and 4 star activities and food. We had a great seafood dinner on the waterfront less than 5 min away then in the morning spent a few hours on the beach watching whales from the beach. Very quiet, can sleep well and be rested for all the local activities.

They charged me twice for my room.
The fella at the desk was nice

There was a smell from the bathroom. It is just an old motel.
I liked that it wasn't in town, It was clean, but I expected an updated version of a 40's motel. They need to update there sign and rooms to reflect that and that place would never have a vacancy.
July 24, 2014
bad smell in the room, humidity, no wifi signal in the las room.
July 17, 2014
Outside is a wreck, front yard grass completely dead, signage and picket fence in disrepair and falling apart, lobby dirty and a mess, receptionist was apathetic and dressed very poorly, overpriced for what you get.
Room was very clean, had coffee maker and fridge. Recently renovated

El Rancho Motel is outside Watsonville. It's a bit remote from everything, so you must have transportation. The matress has a plastic sheet covering which is squeaky when turning over. The place is quiet and clean. The shower and water pressure are perfect. That's all that matters to me. I'm a low maintenance person. Watsonville has some of the best Mexican food around and you can lost in the strawberry fields.

The entire stay was horrible. The guest next door were smoking marijuana and cigarettes leaving my family and I to smell that all night long. I complained and the owner let me know that there was nothing he can do. The hotel was dirty and I did not feel safe. The room had two queen beds however, one of the beds were pushed up against a door leading to the back parking lot. There were some very shady people at night back there. I was traveling alone with 3 children. I would not recommend this motel to anyone.

Way out in the middle of no where. Nothing near by. Reminded me of the movie the Bates motel. My grown son and I were both leary of staying there. will not be staying there again

We thought we had booked for $70 and at check out required $120. Makes you look bad. The wi-fi worked if you left the room and went 4 doors up.
Great looking 40's motel court. Rooms sparce and tidy. Host was pleasant but apparently took advantage at leaving time. I know the other clients cudn't have paid that much.
