The place was absolutely fantastic! It's no longer a hostel and the rooms are newly renovated. I loved the location and the price of the hotel you can't beat! Will be back . Absolutely no complaints!

I like that Elements offers clean rooms for a responsible rate. We were 10 minutes late checking out and someone came and knocked on my door to make sure we were leaving.

The locations The first Room they assigned me was literally broken, it was very small too. The over night receptionist was not friendly nor helpful. But I have to admit that Steve, the afternooon/evening receptionist was very helpful, friendly and nice.

I liked the modern flair in a very traditional neighborhood... It was rather old and I did not feel safe walking around or near the hotel, since it is in the Mission district......

Location and wi-fi. I stayed there 3 years ago and was shocked at how much it has been allowed to go downhill! The great terrace bar is now an abandoned dump. No more coffee and roll for breakfast. No more public computer. Not worth the price anymore.

Clean room and bathroom. Bed sheets and towels not worn. Easy access by public transit 24/7. Housekeeping only by request - I stayed three nights and they didn't come, but I didn't need my bed made anyway. No air conditioner, only centralized heating, so the room may be hot in summer (in Oct it was ok). Noise from the street and from the nightclub below till late night. Bunk bed with actual bed on the upper level and a desk on the lower one - room size easily allows to have a normal bed and a separate desk.

Situated in the Mission District and close to transport into the city, Castro District and also Folsom I was not aware that the beds were all bunk style, and at 63 years old, climbing steps to get to my bed was difficult. Facilities were poor, as there was a microwave supplied but no utensils or cooking items. There was not even a glass or spoon available. The laundry was inadequate and costly.

There was no drinking glass in the room. The lighting was dreadful. The decor was depressing. The sheets on the bed didn't fit properly and were nylon. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in North America.

This is probably the worst 'hotel' I've ever stayed in. The area on Mission Street is filled with vagrants (my friends in San Francisco were horrified when they found out where I was staying). There is a major drug problem in the area with drugs openly being sold on the street within yards of the hotel. It's extremely noisy (even with earplugs I found it almost impossible to sleep). There is a horrible, nauseating smell throughout the hotel, a bit like cooking fat and onions. The roof terrace on the website was badly neglected (all the plants are dead and there are bottles and cigarettes scattered around). The internet connection was unreliable and the chair in my room was falling apart. The restaurant / club next door is very noisy late into the night. This is really a hostel not a hotel and as such it's badly overpriced.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and always available. It's also in a good location for lots of interesting shops and restaurants. And the room included a refrigerator and microwave oven, which was an unexpected bonus. The area is rather noisy until the wee hours of the morning, so it's not great if you're sensitive to noise and want to go to bed at a decent hour. And somebody apparently thought it would be funny to pull the fire alarm, so we were woken up in the middle of the night to stand outside while they resolved the problem. They said it didn't happen very often.

Nothing. It was a bad experience. This was by far the worst "hotel" experience I've ever had. The location is not convenient and in a rundown part of town, the so-called rooftop terrace was in a state of disrepair, there were toenail clippings on the floor from a previous guest, the fire alarm went off at 2:30 in the morning, the bed was uncomfortable, etc. Definitely not recommended!

Ideal locatiion. The staff were helpful - although =my nights mixed git mixed upo abnnd on the second night my key would not access the door, this was soon sorted out. I was impressed by the vigilance of the staff in checking i'd'S. Room was described as "Loft". As I am in my sixties, I did not expect to be climbing up and down a ladder to get into what was in effect a double bed version of a childs bunk bed/desk unit.

I thought Elements was good value for the money. I read some negative reviews online, but booked anyways b/c it was last minute and it was the right price and location for what I was looking for. Overall I was really pleased, I had a desk to work from, Wi-Fi worked flawless, clean bathroom, friendly staff, i did a load of laundry, had a mini-fridge. I would say the only negative is the bed is not super supportive/comfortable. It was the top bunk, and the desk was underneath. But it wasn't too bad. Other complaint is my room faced the street, and they were literally repaving Mission St the week I was staying, so that was a bit loud and dirty out front.
