on main road, near civic centre, music district, near a subway system, cable car, mini tram
room a bit small for the price paid, a bit too art décor
Free Wi-Fi Hot water for showers decent cable
2 of the 4 white towels had stains The carpet needed to be cleaned or replaced - dirty and stained Free breakfast was toast, whole fruit, orange juice, coffee, and cereal - Could be a little more hearty Hotel hallways in general could use a facelift. It was dark and the floor creaked. Noise from the street was so loud - windows were closed Every so often, I could hear the squealing of pipes or something that sounded like a jack hammer within the building. Someone was smoking marijuana and the smell got into the room.
easy check-in & check out, friendly staff, convenient location, low room cost, no funds withheld on credit card like other hotels, private enclosed parking lot (amazing), clean room.
need more pillows, 3 for a king size are not enough, plush pillows would be nice & comfier. slept fine but would have been much nicer if i had more pillows.
Pleasant staff. Close to Union Square.
Smelled like cigarettes.
I found the majority of staff didn't care or were abrupt in there manner. The simplest things were made to seem an imposition. The room smelt terrible, it's hard to describe past being smoky and old time funky, it felt unclean. We had to go and buy air freshener and scented candles to stand being in there. The hotel was not value for money, there were nearby hotels that had better facilities and were $100/night cheaper. Eg the Red Coach. We tried to change rooms twice due to the smell and to get a fridge and were rebuffed for non senscicle reasons. The neighborhood was extremely shady, we were advised by the staff (only after asking if we were safe) not to go down 3 of the streets.
The building and art deco style of the interiors are very nice; parking inside very practical.
The breakfast takes place in a dark place, more suited for a late night lounge bar :)
Comfortable beds in good=sized room. Charming old art deco furnishings. Fresh-baked muffins on an otherwise uninspired continental breakfast table.
One staff member chastised us publicly for trying to take coffee up to our room; there are no notices or signs saying that this action is not allowed.
Very nice staff
Very loud and needs a deep clean
The WiFi was fast and the signal was strong. They have a private gated parking lot which is also a plus.
First off, as others have mentioned, there are homeless people everywhere. I would say the area is almost decent, but I wouldn't be caught wandering the streets at night. The hotel room itself was very dated. The halls were narrow and the elevator was in some serious need of maintenance. I will start with the bathroom. The bathroom wasincredibly small and the grout in the small tile shower told me that not much effort had been put into cleaning. The standing sink was incredibly small and there was no counter, only a tiny ledge where you can put all of your toiletries - right above the sink. Additionally, my room did not have any bath towels. I had to wait almost 45 minutes for someone to deliver them. As for the bedroom. There was a dead fly under my pillow. Yes, you read that correctly. Whether that means the staff didn't change my sheets or the dead fly had a heart attack mid-flight and landed under my pillow. I chose to believe the ladder. I can literally go on and on but I now feel like I am wasting my breath, so to speak. Hopefully I have said enough to steer you away from this miserable hotel. Good luck.
Shower had good pressure
The strong smell of smoke even in our non-smoking room. It was permeating -coming through the doors, vents and hallways.
Décor was nice, very retro. Close proximity to city hall, etc.
Bathroom was not very clean (hairs on the floor). No A/C or fan in room.
The front desk was extremely nice and Lobby was nice as well. That's why I was surprised once we got to the room.
It's was so frightening parking the car, the location was scary. We checked in and the guy was very nice, we got to the room an it was creepy, dark hall ways, like a institution. Then all I heard was screaming an yelling the while time we left and checked out it was awful.
Not in the best part of town. We we overwhelmed by an almost cat box like odor when we opened the door of our room. Was very pricey considering its location.
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and the facilities were nice. The hotel had a lot of character to it.
At first we thought it was a world war era theme hotel
Then we figured out it was just a hotel that hasn't been updated since the world war era. The place stunk, elevators were sketchy at best, windows were screwed shut, drawers were broken. First they gave us the keys to a room that already had people in it, then they gave us a room where everything was broken. And don't even think about walking around the neighborhood
Everything...it was unclean and absolutely disgusting.
Nothing. Very disappointed. Room 404 had a very strong mold odor. Had to cancel our 2nd night. The bedding, flat pillows, curtains and floor were dirty. Wet carpet next to the heater. Had to leave windows and dirty curtains open to air out the strong odor. Pictures on website nothing like the real rooms. Water stain on walls. Will not recommended or stay again.
Strong odor, lack of parking space, bad area (Tenderloin). Outdated furniture, uncomfortable bed. Bad smell as you walk in hotel.
Charming "retro" décor. Friendly staff. Convenient secure parking. Central location. Ample closet space. Large bed. Comfortable chairs in room.
No coffee maker in room or provided in lobby. Bathroom sink not secured properly so drain leaked (workmanship of rehabbing hotel could be of higher quality, more attention to details.)
The front desk staff was very welcoming and pleasant. He was friendly.
No a/c in my unit and my sheet had a stain on it.
Cheap hotel. Not too far from the main drag, but taxi's are advisable. A genuine two star hotel.
In a tough part of town - beware. Rooms are old and a little musty, but serviceable.
No one asked me for id apon checking in or out. I did sign a bill as I left. The place was very old and so was the blankets & furniture. The showers water rose as I bathe leaving my feet submerged in my bath water. Overall for the cost it could have been better!
Good internet, room warm, good size, and desk.
Storage rack fitted over the toilet (WC) so you can't sit on it properly!
I was struggling to find a room because of conferences in town. So I was happy to get a room!
You could not control the heat in your room. It's a VERY old hotel, with radiators, in the rooms. When I tried to adjust the radiator, it was very loud. I couldn't sleep the first night because of this. Someone fixed it for the second and third night but the room was very cold.
