- looks terrible from outside, some construction was going on just beside - very stuffy in the whole facility - light didn't work in the toilet room - I couldn't open window in my room without disassembling it - no towel at room
Good place to sleep and go around the city
So much chipper than the rest of san francisco
The neiborhood was auful full of homeless. Not safe
Price Proximity to AT&T park and union square Wifi. Not the best hotel, but it is a hostel and the price was 1/3 of staying at a nice hotel. I just needed a bed and roof and it was fine for that. But far from luxury stay. So if you have appropriate expectations, it is fine.
Nothing was horrible, just all pretty cheap. (Which is why price was cheap).
location, price, ease of check-in/-out. great choice for the budget traveler
Everything. Unsafe part of the city, dirty rooms,
Price, Was close to centre, Friendly staff, Leaving
Immediate location, google 6th street Dodgy area, we had to get a taxi back in the evenings and had to walk out of our way to get places as it didn't feel safe Hostel was unclean, room smelled of urine Bathroom felt like we would catch something so rationed our showers
Price was acceptable considering it was difficult to find cheap lodging for the Outside lands Music Festival. We only stayed for one night.
The entire hostel smelled and looked disgusting. The showers and bathrooms were unsanitary.
Carloss was great & friendly ,right in middle in town
Toilet /Shower room didn't get cleaned properly ( same Hairs on tiled walls 3 days), Painting /renovation needed , Carpet on hallway
SF is very expensive and this is a cheap alternative. Room was basic. 1 light did not work. Room did have a mini fridge and a microwave !! Had it not been for the mosquito bites, it would have been ok. The owner/manager did try to be very helpful at check in regarding overnight parking options.
Shower was a bit grody. Eaten alive by mosquitos at 1 am - and my room was on the 2nd floor. Neighborhood is rough, but what do you expect in SF for the price?
+Within walking distance to Moscone Convention Center & lots of shopping & restaurants +Carlos (staff) very friendly and helpful +Very affordable for travelers on a budget +mini fridge in room, small sink & mirror +Carlos was quick to buzz us in and answer any questions
-Our room was literally lopsided (uneven foundation) so our bed slept at an angle upside down, we had to put the pillows at the opposite end to sleep somewhat normal. -The mattress was not clean. You could see old stains on the mattress through the white sheets (gross). We literally had to lay towels over the mattress under the sheets to feel more clean / safe. -Bathrooms & showers in the hallway are very small.
The location is horrible, the hotel smells, the bathrooms are run down.
Location - close to everything.
Not ur usual hostel, more like boarding house. Location is good but dodgy neighbourhood.
The only good thing about this place is the location. 6th st is horrible and felt unsafe but it is close to everything
This place is so rundown and needs a massive renovation. The room was smelly and musty, bathrooms were very dirty and the shower seemed like it was in a small cupboard.
Staff was very friendly.
Location (lots of homeless in the surroundings)
location is good, recommend u walk on the 5th st and then turn to 6th when coming from market st, public transportation was close, stuff were nice and willing to help, don't worry about homeless people around the hostel they r all around the city anyway
there were no air circulation in the room and bed was not really comfortable
The location is good
The room is quite smelly. Shared rest room and bathroom are old, small and seems not really comfortable to use.
Price Location Friendliness of the owner Cleanliness
Firstly, Carlos is the bomb. I arrived fresh off a flight from Australia, having been informed my original hostel had overbooked and had no room for me. I was sent to Europa where Carlos chatted to me, made me feel a whole lot better and gave me some advice about the neighborhood and what I should see. He will make you feel immediately at home. There are just two showers and toilets per floor - although i didnt have to wait for one (maybe i was lucky). the rooms are not big, but they are comfortable and clean The hostel is a short walk to union square and all the facilities it offers. This little pocket of the neighborhood is not too bad, if you don't want to be near homeless people you'd be better off in north beach or union square (and paying at least double what you will here). No one hassled me though, I never felt threatened despite being a first-time traveller, all the same i would recommend not wandering around after dark.
The cost factor is low. We had to work an event. So, we didn't want to spend a lot on a room. So, you get what you pay for
The bathrooms and showers. Need to be cleaned more often. I am glad, I brought my own bleach!
Cleaning the room everyday
My room was very quiet and clean, the shower and bathroom were good. The location is excellent; the 6th street itself is dirty and is home to a lot of sketchy folks but they do not bother anyone. There are a lot of other hostels on the same street and you are very close to public transport (including BART), many sites of interest and a variety of stores. The owner was very friendly. I think the hostel is a great option if you are there to explore the city and don't want to waste too much money on hotels. I would stay there again.
Cheap, clean bed. Friendly staff.
Wifi was terrible. Building is roughly finished.
+ Room was lovely and big + great comfortable bed + very quiet so got the first goodnights sleep in around 3 weeks! +generally pretty clean +bathrooms a great size
- room's could do with a lick of paint, they'd look cleaner with a new paint job - the area is dodgy, dodgy, dodgy, located on the same strip as a couple of porn shops, I was offered drugs and a "good time" by a blatant cross dresser. I felt more intimidated walking here than anywhere in NYC where I stayed for 10 days. Know the area in advance if you stay here. - Bathrooms could definitely have been slightly cleaner. - no air con or even a fan would have sufficed. Very hot without being able to open a window.
The owner was really nice, he helped me with everything ! He made sure my request (being next to the stairs due to heavy luggages) was met, helped me with a shuttle for the airport. You can also let them store up to three bags for $5/day, and it is more than safe (I let my laptop, camera, ... because my plane was late in the evening). Thank you !!
