Service in the room, you need a microwave oven... air conditioning in the rooms was very hot
not be if this renovation, at the bottom, or maybe is not in the area of the hotel...I did not like that ugly look at the entrance and I did not like that they have no parking
Stale smelling carpets, run down josh house. Honestly terrible place. Everything nasty about this place. The homeless outside had better facilities.
Nice price, good WI-FI connection, very nice front desk guy
No bathroom in room, old facilities in room, location good on map but a bit scary after sunset
Location, it was close to where I needed to be
Bed bugs Loud staff Dirty showers, bathrooms
most affordable and clean hostel possible to find during the busiest weeks in sf for travel
The showers & bathrooms could be much more clean ie. not rusted hooks, filthy curtains, mold and grime.
-Rooms are dirty, and tiny. -Towels didn't look clean at all -Hallway was under construction -Common bathrooms are dirty. -If you step outside the hotel after 9PM, you WILL run into a crack addict or two.
Stayed for 6 nights. The hostel has excellent value - close to city centre and cheap. WiFi was good enough to plan the trip from the hostel. If you want the best coffee and sandwich for breakfast, just a few blocks away is spyglass on 7th street. Really hip place and delicious miniburger and coffee.
6th street towards Market Street and the crossing Howard street have many homeless wandering around. Although we never saw them harm anyone, it did not feel safe in the evening. Pro tip: when returning from Chinatown in the evening , take bus 12 and stop in the corner of 6th and Harrison. Walking from there to the hostel we never saw anything suspicious. It was said somewhere that 6th and 7th street are extension of Tenderloin - one of the shadiest areas of SF. I guess it is true until Howard street comes along. From there towards Harrison its OK. The place smells like pot, stairs are stained and squiky, but residents weren't half bad. If you take caution, focus on the value and have positive attitude, then the place is all right :)
I met the owner he was so nice i asked him if i could borrow a hand mirror i would stay again its close to everything and i got great guest service
Someone was pounding a hammer to a wall or floorboard early in the morning and woke me up i wasnt to happy about that
Sink in room
Dirty showers toilets. Noisy rooms. Stuffy carpets. No elevator. Stuffy hallways
Don't expect luxury here, it's a budget place. However, the rooms are clean, there is free WiFi and the owners are really very friendly and kind. Also, it's located in "real" SF, not far from Market Street but with its very own downtown flair.
Very dirty and noisy place. Very strong smell in the carpet. Location is pretty bad as well. Next time I will spend more time looking at the reviews of the hostels I am planning to stay.
The 6th street is full of homeless and drugs addicts. Not the most exciting place to walk around. It was an extremely hot day, so the lack of air conditioner wasn't that comfortable.
Good location and overall ok for that price.
location is good
very dirty - I found someone's nail on the carpet.. no kitchen, even impossible to make tea(
Location next to the Civic Center and Powel Stration - just 7 minutes walk to Market Street and main public transport hubs.
Despite good location, very poor neighborhood, full of homeless at street (they make no harm - relatively safe - but are unpleasant), and streets very dirt - not good environment for families, children, or even couples. For single travelers and backpackers is ok.
cheap compare to other options good for solo travelers
location is nesty shared bathroom
Poorly situated. Dirty door.
The cheapest we found. Owner very polite and nice Suggested only if You have not a car..!
No Services in the room, bathroom and showers in common with all the guests, not much clean, without parking (complicate and expansive if You have a car) parkings near 20-40 dollars per night
Location is OK, close to the city center.
The hostel is at the 2nd level of the building without an elevator. The window in the room I stayed could not be opened, so the room is smelly and hot in September although there is a fan with loud noise. Not recommended.
- price - calm night - clean bed
- dangerous street - bad locker on door - old and not really clean bathroom - no elevator - a little bit smoke smell in room
near to the civic center when you travel from airport
The street that the hotel is based in, it is really not a very good idea to walk on that street when the sun goes down, not very safe.

Is one of the most dangerous streets in the city. Although we took it to be the cheapest price not worth paying.
Good location and cheap price, good for students or solo travelers that need a place to sleep at a good price. It's not the ritz and feels weird the first night then you can feel it's ok!
They don't have non smoking rooms they all have the smell of smoke in the carpet and curtains but hey I can't really complain about the price after seeing how expensive evrything is in SF
