The location is horrible, the hotel smells, the bathrooms are run down.
Location - close to everything.
Not ur usual hostel, more like boarding house. Location is good but dodgy neighbourhood.
The only good thing about this place is the location. 6th st is horrible and felt unsafe but it is close to everything
This place is so rundown and needs a massive renovation. The room was smelly and musty, bathrooms were very dirty and the shower seemed like it was in a small cupboard.
location is good, recommend u walk on the 5th st and then turn to 6th when coming from market st, public transportation was close, stuff were nice and willing to help, don't worry about homeless people around the hostel they r all around the city anyway
there were no air circulation in the room and bed was not really comfortable
The location is good
The room is quite smelly. Shared rest room and bathroom are old, small and seems not really comfortable to use.
Price Location Friendliness of the owner Cleanliness
The cost factor is low. We had to work an event. So, we didn't want to spend a lot on a room. So, you get what you pay for
The bathrooms and showers. Need to be cleaned more often. I am glad, I brought my own bleach!
Cleaning the room everyday
My room was very quiet and clean, the shower and bathroom were good. The location is excellent; the 6th street itself is dirty and is home to a lot of sketchy folks but they do not bother anyone. There are a lot of other hostels on the same street and you are very close to public transport (including BART), many sites of interest and a variety of stores. The owner was very friendly. I think the hostel is a great option if you are there to explore the city and don't want to waste too much money on hotels. I would stay there again.
Cheap, clean bed. Friendly staff.
Wifi was terrible. Building is roughly finished.
+ Room was lovely and big + great comfortable bed + very quiet so got the first goodnights sleep in around 3 weeks! +generally pretty clean +bathrooms a great size
- room's could do with a lick of paint, they'd look cleaner with a new paint job - the area is dodgy, dodgy, dodgy, located on the same strip as a couple of porn shops, I was offered drugs and a "good time" by a blatant cross dresser. I felt more intimidated walking here than anywhere in NYC where I stayed for 10 days. Know the area in advance if you stay here. - Bathrooms could definitely have been slightly cleaner. - no air con or even a fan would have sufficed. Very hot without being able to open a window.
The owner was really nice, he helped me with everything ! He made sure my request (being next to the stairs due to heavy luggages) was met, helped me with a shuttle for the airport. You can also let them store up to three bags for $5/day, and it is more than safe (I let my laptop, camera, ... because my plane was late in the evening). Thank you !!
* Price * Proximity to the city/harbour * Wi-Fi
* Basic amenities were at their most basic; * The neighbourhood was pretty dodgy. Plenty of homeless people about, but thankfully not aggressive; * The facility is pretty old and in poor shape.
The owner was very helpful and I was able to get a shuttle from the hostel to the airport. My room was clean quiet and comfortable. I didn't go to San Francisco to stay in the room all day so it suited my purpose. I would definitely stay there again.
The Wifi was iffy and a bit slow.
Near centre Cheap parking Good place to stay
Personally I would recommend the Europa hotel (not Hostel) which is situated more in the centre Toilets get stucked so you have to not flush the toilet paper into the tubes (or you will be facing sh*tstorm flood menace)
Staff were helpful
Dodgy people on every street bad area
The door locked. Room came with a frig & sink in the bedroom. The room was quiet. The big tough guy with tattoos that checked me in was pleasant and tried to make me laugh not realizing my ordeal looking for a parking spot.
Dirty bathrooms, gnats everywhere in the room. People smoking when signs posted everywhere not do to so. Location is horrible no parking what so ever! Closet with no hangers.
Owner friendly, good location
Quite shabby but this is reflected in the price
The staff is really nice and takes care of you. They have very good maps of the city and help you with giving tips to plan your trip. They provide 2 towels, soap, and you even have a fridge, a TV and a sink in the room. The hostel is well situated and close to the city centre, although there were too many odd scary people on that street. If you travel with somebody not a problem.
The hostel is very close to the city centre but that street in particular has many homeless odd scary people. If you travel with people I guess it is ok, but I was traveling alone so I was scared to walk on that street. The room was a bit too hot as well, no fun.
Location and price
Some things (like toilet and bathroom) need an update
Manager professional and cooperative
no telephone anywhere
I liked everything
The guy on the front desk was really nice and very helpfull.
Stinky room, no showers or toilet in the room, thick walls, very hot and noisy room, yOu can hear people talking ang walking from all the rooms around you. The 6th street is a story for itself. Full of homeless adicts asking you for money and looking like zombies no matter what period of day or night. Worse street ever. Never again I would stay there, not even for 1$.
The owner is half the charm of this hostel!
The location. Lots of homeless people and drug addicts
Politeness and knowledge of staff, clean restrooms
