If you rate European as a hostel( not as a hotel) it is wonderful. Of course its not a hotel. Small but clean and comfortable beds. Clean bathrooms. Nice kitchen with free coffee. Met nice people. Located in a convenient place. Value for money. Very helpful staff. Nothing much. But may be a lot of homeless people around . I suppose that's common in sfo.

Very near to BART, cable car, city center and also easy access to attractive site in the city. The floor is not clean enough, bad smell. The kitchen does not have the air flow, you can smell every food every smoke inside the building.

Location was nice and central. Shared bathrooms were always occupied and not cleaned enough for the high traffic.

The showers; closeness to transport link. Poorly-run; night-time curfew needed as it gets noisy when guests come and go, especially on the ground floor near the communal kitchen; awful area with lots of homeless people/beggars sleeping in the same street and nearby; very cold at night because the blankets provided were very poor and ineffectual.

I loved their Continental breakfast and their attention to detail in the bedroom and bathroom area. Excellent housekeeping service. A must recommend for budget travelers.

Not bad at all for a hostel in SOMA.The staff is quite helpful, there is big kitchen area with big TV for people to socialize and wind down after long hours of voracious sightseeing/shopping with free wi-fi and a public computer.Of course -there some cons as well-shabbiness,strange people on the streets around,BUT, all in all,-it`s GOOD!

The bathroom is clean. The upper bunks are difficult to get in and out of, as well as uncomfortable. There's no way to turn off the television, even when nobody's watching it. Kitchen dishes are few and scruffy. Pots are toxic aluminum junk. No drinking water available, even to buy. Only thing available is diet Coke. Located on an alley filthy with human waste.

It's a great budget friendly hostel with the feel of a like halfway house. We enjoyed the stay but because I only needed a place to sleep, somewhere to store my stuff and a use bathroom. Only thing I say I didn't like was one shared bathroom but I'm from a big family so I adapted pretty fast.

The people were cool and the hostel had lots of amenities. Service desk not 24 hours. Open at 7 and checkout is 10. If you have a flight anytime before about 8, you don't get your deposit back because you can't check out. Plus your card is charged more. Not good for early travelers.
