They staff was very friendly. The overall facility was clean. I liked the laundry facility and used it. Saved me time when I got home. The staff was very accommodating. The night bellhop who helped move me to another room was fantastic. Took interest in my stay and informed me that there were other people from my training that were staying there too. If forgot his name but he had blond hair about 6'3 and blue eyes. He was on the dinner shift.
The ants in my room the 2nd night there. I got back to my room about 700pm to have dinner. I placed it down on the desk to eat. All of a sudden 5 ants came running across the desk towards my dinner. When I sat on the bed an ant was crawling on the bed. As I dialed another ant was on the nightstand. Due to severe allergies I wasn't able to stay in the room after fumigation. So the front desk moved me to a very nice room. I loved being able to hear the sea otters playing in the surf at night before I slept.
Relaxed feel of the property. Adjacent to the beach. Low profile buildings that made the property more like a planned apartment complex and not a hotel. COFFEE in the room. Very relaxing bed and a choice of pillows.
Work was on going as they renovate the hotel. But to the hotel's credit, it did not create an inconvenience.
Finding my room
The hotel staff was friendly and the facilities were ok.
Food and beverage was not good at all. I would not recommend dining at any of the restaurants at this facility. There are plenty of options near by
Warm cookies on arrival were a nice touch. Luxurious feel to the room. Starbucks in the lobby. Prompt housekeeping service. Friendly and efficient staff on check in. Proximity of our room to the spotlessly clean pool and hot tub with towels provided. Watched the sunrise on the beach 2 mins walk from hotel.
Rollaway had been booked but wasn't in room on arrival. In room minibar too expensive, just a bottle of water was $7! Lobby bar also very expensive. In general the hotel seemed very quiet which meant it lacked any atmosphere but it did mean we had the pool to ourselves. Location was a bit out of town and very close to a noisy railway track but this didn't spoil our overnight stay. Might if you were staying longer though.
This hotel is huge, and covers a whole block. However you soon get used to it, and the staff are helpful and friendly. We had a great room, with am ocean view. The location is good - a 10 minute walk to the pier and town.
The WiFi in the room was unreliable. Also they charge to park, on top of a hefty room rate
I loved the swimmingpool
the lobby was not really very inviting
Hotel was ideally located near he bay and a short walk to the pier. Excellent facilities and friendly helpful staff.
I liked the pool. It was very large and is in a really great setting.
My room needed updating. It's doors for the bathroom were scratched and needed varnishing. We were given a room designed for the physically challenged. I am an RN and I felt like I was at work. The elevator's in the building we were in were to far from the room. And $19.00/day for parking! I felt ripped off and would never stay or recommend this place to anyone.
coffeemaker in room
no robe in bathroom
I love this hotel. We are former SB residents and come back to visit several times a year. This property is very spacious as are the rooms. You can't beat the beachfront location. And, its a bonus that we can bring our dog if we want to.
There was a frog jumping around in the court yard and I have a phobia unfortunately which didn't bode well.
The Fess is within a nice walk of the pier and some good dining.
It's right next to train tracks, ants in the bathroom, and hair both in our bath towels and in our exceedingly expensive breakfast
Large rooms, excellent location for the beach, great swimming pool for the kids. Helpful staff, free cookies on check in!
Having to pay for parking, room decor felt a bit 'worn'.
Everything !.....the room, the bars, the restaurants, the location....Ideal spot as we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
Pool, room and location were all excellent.
Business center was very poor. Very slow response time on Internet. No free wi-fi in the room.
Love the location, walk to the beach. Pool was heated, room very spacious and comfortable. Good for kids.
A little pricey, but we got a huge room!
Very basic amenities (i.e. a few restaurants) Breakfast is not very impressive Parking is chargeable and valet service is exhorbitant
Kind and professional people.
We should have stayed for the weekend. We didn't like leaving such a lovey play. Great front office people, doormen, concierge, house keeping etc.
Tub does not drain Toilet Clogs Ants in the bed Did not get the room I booked Bed was uncomfortable
Very good pool. Nice location near beach.
WIFI not available in room. Charges for WIFI. Most hotels now provide it free.
The location of The Fess was brilliant with beautiful views of the ocean. The garden and facilities were immaculate the room size for our family was appreciated.
Setting close to the shore and the sound of breaking waves in the distance.
Air conditioning not working. Could not sleep due to heat. Poor sound isolation. Guests staying above us decided to rearrange their furniture at 3 AM and we could hear it all and then at 7 AM came the running of their child thumping the floor. Not a nice experience at all.
