Incredible views with amazing architecture.
I felt the Showers could use a update.
Great location and hotel.
Rooms were a little dated
The location was perfect and the views were unbelievable. The staff was wonderful from the valet to the bartender to the cleaning staff. The pool was the highlight after walking 31 days in 2 days.
Location is excellent. We were given a garden view that included a view of the Pacific.
The hotel is a bit scruffy around the edges, with peeling paint, nicked door edges, etc. Also, I was served a Fess Parker Syrah that came in a wine glass clearly spotted and smudged. I was expecting a bit more attention to detail considering the history of this establishment.
I loved the location. The ocean view was spectacular.
We were in a building near the tennis facilities - it needed updating- our shower faucet was falling off the toilet seat has seen better days, the patio door was really hard to work, etc. -expected much better accommodations at this facility.
The room was a bit dirty, spider webs and dirty carpet. TV was not working so we had to wait for someone to come fix it. No vents in the showers either.
Location Staff Overall feel of the place Dog friendly
Needs a refit ie fresh up the carpets....
Warm cookies, informed bell boy, concierge, friendly manager. Staff was friendly.
Really dusty rooms & their dried pancakes.
dirty room, run down
Love the garden view the fact that I could walk out and not in room so much. Nice
Great location, across the street from the beach and easy to walk to downtown for dinner.
The pool is a little small if the hotel is full. Sound bounces off the stucco buildings, but every night it got quiet so sleeping wasn't a problem.
Ocean view ... if STANDING on the room patio. Seated, the 1st story roof-line and the guardrail blocked the horizon -- poor construction plan. That was in my day 2-3-4 room. (See Day 1 room in "Disliked".) Grounds were well-kept and very pretty with lots of flowers in bloom. I only ate one meal there -- an ok buffet breakfast which they comp'd me ($26) because of the hassle to change rooms. Most staff were pleasant and helpful.
My check-in at 4pm was delayed 45 minutes because the room wasn't ready. My day 1 "ocean view" room overlooked a side street and a traffic signal. The patio had no umbrella and no overhead cover for shade -- would be in direct sun all day. Next morning I complained and got moved to another room on the west side of the facility, where I had requested with my original booking 2 months earlier -- and with 2 follow-up phone calls to confirm. Because I was there for my son's wedding, I splurged on the $400-a-night fee -- but I didn't anticipate the $53/night city tax and the $19/night PARKING fee. Yes they charge you to park in the hotel lot. Because of the delayed check-in on day 1, the desk clerk said she would comp my first night parking fee ($19) -- but when the final bill came in, the charge was there. If you want internet access, it's $16 a day.

Location right by the pier
A broken balcony sliding door, three room keys that wouldn't work and woke up to ants in the bed, on the wall and in the bathroom! The first impression was I paid a ton of money for an ocean view and two big palm trees blocked half of the view. When I went to open the door to go out on the balcony, the screen door was just leaning against the door and it fell over on to the patio furniture. We went downstairs to get a few more things out of the car and to report the broken slider only to find the key we took with us didn't work when we returned to our second story room. We made a second trip down to fix the key, returned and it did not work a second time. Our third trip down the receptionist tried to tell us we were putting the key card in the door incorrectly( as if we wouldn't have flipped the card around to swipe it again) which was pretty insulting considering I have been traveling forever and for seven days prior just this trip! The third trip for the key was the charm. After one disappointing night we woke to ants in the bed, on the wall and in the bathroom! No food was consumed in the room! This was the last night on a week long trip to treat my 85 year old aunt to some sights she wanted to check off her "bucket list". While upon leaving the hotel we did complain about everything... The door, the key and the ants. They refunded 1/2 the bill. While this was a nice gesture, it did not erase the disappointment we felt on our last night/day of vacation! While the hotel lobby was beautiful the rest of the experience was less than impressive. We went back downstairs to
The hotel itself is great. It is right across fr the beach and the grounds are beautiful
The hotel has no customer service at all. I was traveling with a wedding party and our reservations were messed up from the very beginning. They had us in the wrong rooms it was just a nightmare and they did nothing about it. Obviously we had to stay there, we are from out of town traveling with a wedding party so basically we were just screwed for the 2.5 days we were there. It's a shame because I have stayed at other doubletree resorts and have had a great experience
The pool & location we're good
The room was smelly, carpets throughout hotel were not vacuumed, air on was leaking a wet puddle on our floor, bed was lumpy & uncomfortable, no towels provided - and this was an upgraded suite! We complained and got most of our money back.
location Valet staff friendly cleaning lady worked hard
Check in poor only 2 staff at desk and several customers ahead of us seemed to take a long time to deal with customers. Had requested feather free room was put into a room full of feathers requested a quite room put in a room beside train track Went to pool area twice at 14.00hrs no beds available at all. Towels very worn of poor quality Hotel rooms very shabby in need of upgrade carpet felt dirty breakfast far more expensive than other better hotels staff unfriendly not able to advise re restaurants etc
Location near the waterfront
The rooms are deteriorating and smell musty. They need a renovation.
We tried twice to get a hold of the spa. Once, with the concerige who left a message for them to call us and then I called the spa and left a message. Never got a response. So, my daughter went to the spa to make her reservations. Everything else was perfect.
The grounds are beautiful, the location is perfect. The ocean is right across the street, the wharf and State St. are within walking distance. The staff were all very polite and customer service oriented.
The room was old and needed work. The electrical in the bathroom worked off and on. We had to call each day late afternoon to ask why our room wasn't cleaned. The screen door handle just fell off in my hand. For a $479.00 a nite room one would think it would be clean and updated. The food was good in the restaurant but very over priced. Only one restaurant for dinner and is "fine dining". You have to leave and go into town for a moderate dinner.
The food was very good especially the breakfast buffet.
The rooms need redecorating and renovation.
Bell hops and valet were very friendly and jovial
Had 3 people in room and had to call for third set of towels. Then started using pool so needed a second setting for 3 people (6 towels) every day. Then had to keep calling for towel service. When towels came, no one took the large pile of wet towels away. Also, not too keen on the motion sensor thermostat. Wife had to wake up throughout the night to wave her hand to restart a/c when room got too hot. Lastly, we don't use mini-bars but when I wanted to put something into the fridge, I found previous guests leftover lamb chops and garlic mashed potatoes.
