Breakfast was unimpressive.
Excellent happy hour, friendly staff, private beach access, very family friendly, lots of room for kids to run!
All of the staff members were extremely friendly and helpful.
Alis Chapman Room, Only a small thing, but, bathroom, just 2 small glass shelves to put your toiletries on, just not enough space, and above the toilet, I don't like putting things above the toilet, a lot of hotels stack their towels above the toilet, why? A small table or extra shelving would be good.
Everything! The beautiful building, and it's history, it's decor, the board walk straight to the beach, the lovely breakfasts (although husband missed his English style eggs etc) and tasty afternoon tea which we only managed to get back in time for twice. Super staff too! All in all I've fallen for the whole Outer Banks experience!
It was a charming quaint little inn. The room was just big enough for two people to be comfortable. I like that each room has its own name. The social hour was a nice touch for the afternoon.
Breakfast hours should be longer.

My whole family used to go there for vacation back in the 1960s when it was larger and on the beach. Downsized and moved back a bit, it still has all its charm. My middle brother re-discovered it a couple of years ago, and I'm so glad I could share the experience with my husband.
Loved the location - just steps to the beach. The inn was built in the 30's, and has a nice vintage look - the porches with rockers, the 4-poster bed and antique furnishings, the plantation blinds. We were warmly welcomed by Bianca, and The staff made you feel right at home.
Location! The wine social time! Fell in love with the Fernlands wine of New Zealand that they served. Loved the employees and meeting the guests.
The wine served in the afternoon was not very good, but this was not a big issue for us.
Our experience was very homey. . . . quiet, comfortable, close to our favorite restaurants and shopping, etc. The breakfasts served were excellent--everything was fresh and done to perfection. All staff was friendly and helpful.
There was a painting ladder and a drop cloth left in the room but it really didn't matter because everything was phenomenal.
The concierges were wonderfully friendly to begin. The room was so perfectly decorated, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the location to the beach was great, the breakfast was unlike any other continental breakfast. Overall, I liked everything about First Colony Inn. 10/10 would return.
Not just another hotel. Room had character, room was spacious, porches at great, really good breakfast, happy hour was great - easy to meet other guests
Bed was a little too soft
The ambiance, desk man Chris, breakfast
We enjoyed everything that was offered. Thanks for the complimentary wine, and the chocolate covered strawberries were a hit with my wife! Thanks for making her birthday enjoyable!
You can not go wrong here. Best location, wonderful facilities, staff went beyond.
The two arm chairs in the room looked very worn. The bed was too soft
The look of the room; homey. The buffet breakfast had a good selection with a new egg dish each day. The staff was extremely helpful
Can't think of a think except that I (we) didnt get to spend enough time here.
I have stayed here many times over the past 10 years, & always look forward to returning. All the little touches make it so comfortable -- night light, portable heater in the bathroom, comfy robes, personal Keurig coffeemaker, etc etc. The breakfasts and Happy Hours are a marvelous opportunity to meet others.
Small room, very soft mattress, old cast iron tub with enamel worn off, creaky floors that let you know whenever someone upstairs had to take a walk followed by flushing. All In all,a very poor experience.
The noisy street on either side.
The staff was super helpful Our room was wonderful The porch was a great place to sit and enjoy the sunset The location is great. Right across the street from a restarant that we enjoyed very much.
Nags Head has been commercialized to the point where it will be my last trip there. Million dollar rentals houses have taken the place of quiet beach fronts. First Quality Inn was the only saving grace I found there and I have travelled there since 1978.
morning and afternoon food availabilities as well as room service. everyone spoke to you by name.
Food accommodations and service. the staff was very friendly and courteous.
Not much. Our TV was wonky but not in room that much. Rooms are smallish but enough for 2.
Quaint seaside B&B feel, staff was great, great back deck area & pool, chairs and umbrellas' available at no charge, short walk to great beach. In the middle of very commercial area but you'd never know it!
I didn't look at anything other than their overall positive rating prior to making my reservation. Let me say, I was beyond pleased when we arrived. First Colony costs roughly the same as every other hotel I considered. What you get for your money differs dramatically. This place completely charmed me. They have a library, cornhole boards and a hammock on the lawn, porch swings on the upper deck, beach access, the staff was super friendly, I could just go on and on. This is, without a doubt, the place to stay if you are looking for all the little things instead of just a free breakfast.
Wifi was a little weak but it did work.
Porch swings and rockers were wonderful. Landscaping was superb. Breakfast was good each day.
nothing, all was superior.
Everything, this B&B is a vacation paridise. Staff was very attentive, room was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was awesome 5 days, everyday different and better options. Afternoon wine social was a great way to wind down after a day at the beach and before dinner. AAA++++
There was nothing to dislike.
It was peaceful and family friendly. Me and my 11 tear old daughter both loved it. We will be back.
