Location! The wine social time! Fell in love with the Fernlands wine of New Zealand that they served. Loved the employees and meeting the guests.
Our experience was very homey. . . . quiet, comfortable, close to our favorite restaurants and shopping, etc. The breakfasts served were excellent--everything was fresh and done to perfection. All staff was friendly and helpful.
The wine served in the afternoon was not very good, but this was not a big issue for us.
The concierges were wonderfully friendly to begin. The room was so perfectly decorated, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the location to the beach was great, the breakfast was unlike any other continental breakfast. Overall, I liked everything about First Colony Inn. 10/10 would return.
There was a painting ladder and a drop cloth left in the room but it really didn't matter because everything was phenomenal.
Not just another hotel. Room had character, room was spacious, porches at great, really good breakfast, happy hour was great - easy to meet other guests
The ambiance, desk man Chris, breakfast
Bed was a little too soft
We enjoyed everything that was offered. Thanks for the complimentary wine, and the chocolate covered strawberries were a hit with my wife! Thanks for making her birthday enjoyable!
You can not go wrong here. Best location, wonderful facilities, staff went beyond.
The look of the room; homey. The buffet breakfast had a good selection with a new egg dish each day. The staff was extremely helpful
The two arm chairs in the room looked very worn. The bed was too soft
I have stayed here many times over the past 10 years, & always look forward to returning. All the little touches make it so comfortable -- night light, portable heater in the bathroom, comfy robes, personal Keurig coffeemaker, etc etc. The breakfasts and Happy Hours are a marvelous opportunity to meet others.
Can't think of a think except that I (we) didnt get to spend enough time here.
Small room, very soft mattress, old cast iron tub with enamel worn off, creaky floors that let you know whenever someone upstairs had to take a walk followed by flushing. All In all,a very poor experience.
The staff was super helpful Our room was wonderful The porch was a great place to sit and enjoy the sunset The location is great. Right across the street from a restarant that we enjoyed very much.
The noisy street on either side.
Nags Head has been commercialized to the point where it will be my last trip there. Million dollar rentals houses have taken the place of quiet beach fronts. First Quality Inn was the only saving grace I found there and I have travelled there since 1978.
Food accommodations and service. the staff was very friendly and courteous.
morning and afternoon food availabilities as well as room service. everyone spoke to you by name.
Quaint seaside B&B feel, staff was great, great back deck area & pool, chairs and umbrellas' available at no charge, short walk to great beach. In the middle of very commercial area but you'd never know it!
Not much. Our TV was wonky but not in room that much. Rooms are smallish but enough for 2.
I didn't look at anything other than their overall positive rating prior to making my reservation. Let me say, I was beyond pleased when we arrived. First Colony costs roughly the same as every other hotel I considered. What you get for your money differs dramatically. This place completely charmed me. They have a library, cornhole boards and a hammock on the lawn, porch swings on the upper deck, beach access, the staff was super friendly, I could just go on and on. This is, without a doubt, the place to stay if you are looking for all the little things instead of just a free breakfast.
Porch swings and rockers were wonderful. Landscaping was superb. Breakfast was good each day.
Wifi was a little weak but it did work.
Everything, this B&B is a vacation paridise. Staff was very attentive, room was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was awesome 5 days, everyday different and better options. Afternoon wine social was a great way to wind down after a day at the beach and before dinner. AAA++++
nothing, all was superior.
It was peaceful and family friendly. Me and my 11 tear old daughter both loved it. We will be back.
There was nothing to dislike.
It was quiet, which was surprising given how busy and congested Nag's Head is. Very convenient to the beach. The staff was very friendly.
We enjoyed the charm of the inn , breakfast was great , afternoon wine and snack. Was a sweet addition . The staff was always very friendly and always ready to be helpful in anyway. We truly enjoyed our 3 night stay and will definitely return!
Quaint, spotless and lovely b&b right on the outer banks. Did not expect it to be as nice as it was, having found it online fairly last minute. Lovely breakfast and surprise of "tea" or wine and cheese in the afternoon! Free beach chairs and umbrellas were especially appreciated. We'll be back.
wifi very slow but might have been a server problem. Not a big deal as we weren't there to work.
I liked the look and feel of the Inn, it had an old time charm that is all but gone from beach vacations. The location was good too, it was in a good location from everything we wanted; beach, local resturants, shopping, and attractions. I liked there were chair and umbrellas for beach use.
Not enough umbrellas.
the comfortable atmosphere, the excellent suite accomodations, the afternoon wine parties, and the wonder-ful breakfasts.
The fact that we couldn't stay longer.
The location...4 min to the beach was great. The staff was warm, friendly and went out of their way to our stay wonderful; even a new employee(Paula) of one week! We really liked the relaxed breakfast schedule. Many B&bs give you a narrow window...show up or else. We also loved the afternoon "Tea." It fostered interaction among the guests that was great...We Will Be Back.
Tea time every day! They have beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas for guest use! Our room was quiet, we didn't hear our neighbors much at all.
Our room on the third floor (Room 19) felt like a musty attic room with poor airflow, which it kind of is. But, it was very clean and the room's cooling unit had a 'dry' setting which ran constantly.
