It was very quiet and the location is just beautiful. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The food at Seasons restaurant was excellent and the complimentary breakfast buffet was incredible.
small cabin, good price
a little dated
I loved the cabin, the helpful staff, the amazing complimentary buffet breakfast made by a chef, and the surrounding area! It was relaxing and we can't wait to go back and maybe take family/friends with us next time!
Location weather outside room
We had one good meal at Seasons restaurant.
Hotel was gloomy, dowdy and in great need of maintenance with peeling exterior paint everywhere and general feeling of shabbiness. Restaurant staff were odd in behavior. No staff apparent in 'lodge' building. Furnishings in guest room were uncomfortable, unattractive and in desperate need of updating. Property is full of driveways that are confusing and unnecessary. This property is on the cusp of being a dump and the restaurant may be it's only positive feature but that has it's own issues as well.
We were amazed at quality of service and the willingness to please the guests
There was no street sign with the name 'Lily pad' on it. This is the street where the inn is located
Ftom the time we pulled onto Lily Pad Lane we were taken aback by the shear beauty of the property. It is defenitely a hidden gem , the decor was very charming and elegant the rooms were very tastefully done. Words simply cannot describe.
The only drawback was the fact we had to leave......could find absolutley nothing negative about this wonderful place.
breakfast was excellent! dinner was fair with poor service!
Beds are very comfortable. Clean and very friendly staff.
Do not like the resturant associated with the property. Food was good. Service was ok. Not good for families - overpriced.
i really enjoyed my stay with my sister. the Season's staff was great and the gentleman at the front desk to check in was wonderful as well.
natural surroundings of property
The accommodations were not at all what we expected for the price. They could use some updating.
We loved our stay. Highland Lake Inn is a special place. Everything was wonderful from the time we checked in with a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us to the delicious breakfast each morning. The friendly and helpful staff were great ! We'll be back for sure. It was a peaceful and beautiful experience .
Enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the resort. It was very quiet with beautiful surroundings. The breakfasts were very delicious & upscale. Perfect place for my husband & I to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary!
The beauty of the surroundings, the various activities that were available; biking, canoeing, walking, swimming, and the peaceful setting made my husband and I want to spend more time there. The gourmet breakfast was superb! We hope to return someday!
quietness, staff, service
Would like an extra chair and table in room. Our room had one easy chair. I would have liked to have had two, so that my wife and I could have sat at a small table and had coffee together.
Loved the cabins. Would try the cottages next time
The food was great at seasons
The alarm going off in the room next door from midnight to 2am. Loud music. Loud neighbors upstairs in the lodge we were in room 3 of the lodge
Rooms are large and cozy; Restaurant is excellent; staff very pleasant.
Bathrooms could have been a little bigger.
We have fallen in love with this resort. It's a home away from home with a much needed break from the everyday rush. This place is one of the best kept secrets of the area!
Season's resturant was horrible for dinner. The people were snobby and clearly treated us differently because we chose to wear jeans and t-shirts instead of a suit - tie and evening gown attire. We will not refer that resturant to anyone nor return for dinner. The food was good but clearly not worth $30 a plate, which was actually more of a 1/2 plate of food. Breakfast was good and the staff were much more friendly. Because it's included in the stay we will return for breakfast.
Great place to relax at. There are hammocks and large front and back porches to relax on. Also, come prepared for paddle boating and canoeing. They offer yoga classes in the morning as well. The breakfast buffet is to die for.
Extremely friendly and courteous staff. Beautiful location and neatly kept grounds. Facilities in the lodge were older, but very clean. Breakfasts were delicious...almost anything was available...special dietary requests accommodated easily.
Website was not terribly clear about describing the Lodge. It is close to the office and restaurant but there is no elevator and our room was up three flights of stairs. Room was quaint but mattress was uncomfortable for a long stay.
Almost everything!! It is beautiful. Love Seasons, the organic gardens, the sustainable focus, and the layout of the property and the location near Flatrock.
Our cabin's bathroom needed upgrading. The water in the toilet was VERY slow cutting off, the sink spigot leaked and I could hear water running in the shower though I couldn't see it. It also needed more towel bars.
Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. Out of the hustle and bustle.
This sounds picky but towels were too big for hair after washing in shower. Maybe include a couple of mid-sized towels. Also, need some pillows that aren't so thick.
I would highly recommend for couples looking for a different experience. The close proximity to wineries, hiking, and Ashville make this a great location. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay a most enjoyable one.
