Settled on 6 acres of land, 5 miles from Davis Mountains State Park, this Fort Davis Bed and Breakfast features lovely views of the surrounding natural areas.
Score from 48 reviews Wonderful
I loved the historic nature of the hotel, the courtesy and helpfulness of the owner and staff. I much prefer old buildings well cared for over slick new things.
The room was fine no complaints .
Restaurant food over salted and so not fit to eat. Please note with seasoning you can add it but not take it away !
I left my jacket there, they kept it till came back through.
Quaint settings and furnishings, super staff, and great food in restaurant. I look forward to staying here again.
Only complaint is the wifi is unusable
Nice sized room. Very quiet. Very convenient to walk down stairs to restaurant.
A little difficult to get luggage up stairway to hotel rooms on second level. Cooking odor from restaurant kitchen below room somewhat overbearing.
location. restaurant downstairs; excellent food. Room very quaint.
We liked the atmosphere and food was excellent
The bed needed a new mattress it sagged in the middle.
Rooms were clean and decorated in the old west style.
No one took us up to our room to show us anything. No paper instructions. We were the only people in the building that night and didn't know what to do in case of emergency, etc. Not shown how to use the AC.
Quaintness of the room. Convenient location for us. Friendly people
Stairs. Hard carrying luggage. For older people. Not your fault just a comment
With so few choices in Fort Davis, it was nice having the room connected to the restaurant. Proximity to grocery store and gas station was a plus. Rooms were clean and comfortable but stairs up to the rooms a little dusty. Hey, its West Texas!
I wasn't told how to check out and the desk is the cashier station in the restaurant which wasn't open at 5:30 am. I had to guess and so I left the room key in the room and left since the room had been prepaid.
Easy to get to, excellent staff, excellent food, all meals in one spot, great price
down town location
the beds were very worn out. The sag made it hard to sleep. Two time the bed frame fell apart. managment did fix the problem the first time but the second time they were no where around.
The food and drugstore were great. OLD TIME FUN.
Small toilet seats.
Beds were comfy Room temp was perfect Sound from other guests was minimal
floor was filthy-could not go barefoot tub was dirty--hair, crud, etc. Could not use shower. toilet had unflushed toilet paper in it on arrival
rooms were large and very confortable
For the price there should have been free coffee in the morning
Chair in room rickity
Location and convenience for meals. Really good meals.
Why charge extra for two kids when the room has a king bed and bunk beds. It seemed a bit over the top when the room is designed for four. Should be advertised as stairs only (no elevator). It was difficult climbing the stairs with luggage due to my knee surgery.
very rustic. Cable TV was goog as well as the WiFi.
creaky floors, AC was loud and needed the filter cleaned. there was a very small amount of toilet paper in the room and I had to ask to have a new roll bought up to the room.
Who wouldn't like staying on the top floor of a rustic drug store in west Texas? The art gallery upstairs is a very nice plus and the rooms are comfortable and clean.
The staff downstairs is not very attentive to hotel guests, focusing on the restaurant and ice cream guests first. Hardly anything could be done without getting a manager, and we waited every time we wanted to ask the most routine question. I know this is not a hustle and bustle town, but a simple acknowledgement that they see you would go a long way.
Right in the middle of town, you can easily walk to shops and restaurants.
No elevator, one way up and one way down on narrow stairs. Room was rustic but major dust bunnies under beds. Armoires bottom floor was broken and dresser wouldn't close. Shower head needed cleaning, it shot water only toward the shower wall.
Fun and unique for 1 or 2 nights. Enjoyed the enviroment.
Buffalo soldier room king bed was very dated and uncomfortable
Historic old hotel. Restaurant staff were very nice. Food was excellent. Room was clean, nice towels. This was a great place to spend a single night, historic, art gallery, clean room, good food (great breakfast -- not included in room fee). Not much different than it would have been in the 1890's -- except for the WiFi and flat screen TV (and the air-conditioning).
The stairway was narrow, steep, and long -- so don't plan to stay long and pack in small luggage or you will struggle getting your kit up to the very high second floor. The hotel is on main street, you park on the street, there is not much there but a hallway, nicely appointed with chairs, and the rooms. Don't plan on spending any time at the hotel unless it is in your room.
Good value for the cost. Good one night stay while traveling. Room was clean and comfortable.
Exterior could use an upgrade. Appearance might put some off. It did look like they were working on it.
