    down town location

the beds were very worn out. The sag made it hard to sleep. Two time the bed frame fell apart. managment did fix the problem the first time but the second time they were no where around.

Location and convenience for meals. Really good meals.

Why charge extra for two kids when the room has a king bed and bunk beds. It seemed a bit over the top when the room is designed for four. Should be advertised as stairs only (no elevator). It was difficult climbing the stairs with luggage due to my knee surgery.

very rustic. Cable TV was goog as well as the WiFi.

creaky floors, AC was loud and needed the filter cleaned. there was a very small amount of toilet paper in the room and I had to ask to have a new roll bought up to the room.

Who wouldn't like staying on the top floor of a rustic drug store in west Texas? The art gallery upstairs is a very nice plus and the rooms are comfortable and clean.

The staff downstairs is not very attentive to hotel guests, focusing on the restaurant and ice cream guests first. Hardly anything could be done without getting a manager, and we waited every time we wanted to ask the most routine question. I know this is not a hustle and bustle town, but a simple acknowledgement that they see you would go a long way.

Right in the middle of town, you can easily walk to shops and restaurants.

No elevator, one way up and one way down on narrow stairs. Room was rustic but major dust bunnies under beds. Armoires bottom floor was broken and dresser wouldn't close. Shower head needed cleaning, it shot water only toward the shower wall.

Historic old hotel. Restaurant staff were very nice. Food was excellent. Room was clean, nice towels. This was a great place to spend a single night, historic, art gallery, clean room, good food (great breakfast -- not included in room fee). Not much different than it would have been in the 1890's -- except for the WiFi and flat screen TV (and the air-conditioning).

The stairway was narrow, steep, and long -- so don't plan to stay long and pack in small luggage or you will struggle getting your kit up to the very high second floor. The hotel is on main street, you park on the street, there is not much there but a hallway, nicely appointed with chairs, and the rooms. Don't plan on spending any time at the hotel unless it is in your room.

Good value for the cost. Good one night stay while traveling. Room was clean and comfortable.

Exterior could use an upgrade. Appearance might put some off. It did look like they were working on it.

The restaurant was excellent. The best Surf and Turf (steak and shrimp) I have ever had.

    Would have liked softer pillows.

convenience, almost everything needed is in walking distance

not enough chairs in room; linen cleanliness was "iffy" (my pillow smelled), only one bed had a bedside table and lighting

The store and hotel have old western charm, just what you'd expect from a historic western town. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We came specifically to go to the McDonald Observatory. Weren't disappointed in either!

Not a problem for us, but folks should know all rooms are accessed up a narrow, long stairway. Not good if you have severe mobility issues. Ask about their sister property with ground floor rooms if you need that.

This hotel is a charming and comfortable place to stay. There are antiques and artwork throughout the property. The hotel staff is helpful and friendly.

Need to improve fire escape. All rooms are on the second floor in a wooden building. There is an aluminum ladder extending from a balcony to the ground below. This could cause difficulties for younger children and older guests if the normal stairs could not be used during an emergency.

Felt like we were visiting family

Little slow checking us in. Sheets were bleached or something and were very irritating to my skin.

Location was very good for exploring the area. Room was spacious.

Room was not fully prepared the first night (no glasses, almost no toilet paper, little soap). My husband did not sleep well the second night due to noise outside.

Very close, just blocks from Ft Davis Historical site. Downtown for walking around. The Drugstore had a great menu for all day and evening. Rooms were plain but clean, linens fresh and crisp. Housekeeping pays attention.

Rear balcony wasn't really cleared off for customer use. Too bad; it would be a nice sitting area. Was a little confusing at first finding out where to check in to the hotel. Some furnishings didn't work; bottom out of one side of the armoir and one door jammed, but half of it was usable.
