We stayed in the off season for a college tour with our teenage son. There wasn't a single thing to do in the hotel or area for entertainment and we were bored. Walls very thin we heard everything in the room next to us. Bathroom door would not stay closed.
Staff was friendly and it was clean. We had a great view.
The entire complex could use updating. Booking was mixed up. Should have been for 2 adults not 4. Registration clerk was unable to adjust the price of the room but did upgrade us to a river view. Continental breakfast was pitiful. They shouldn't even offer it.
The bathroom too small.
Location and staff.
Minimal effort on the breakfast front.
Location by river walk and across from pretty good restaurant.
Bucksport is a bore, but accessible to lots of other pretty towns.
The view, the room size, the furniture, the bath.
My only recommendation would be to have coffee in the lobby for an extended time each morning to encourage visitors to meet one another over a cup.
I mistook the front desk staff for Southerners--for their warm hospitality! Traveling alone to visit my brother in Rockland, I found this little gem of a hotel when closer accommodations were sold out due to Lobster Fest. And, despite the hour-long drive to and fro, I loved staying at the Fort Knox Inn and walking the miniature Main Street.
All of reviews said the same about the small bathrooms and that the place could use some upgrades but neither of these would deter us from recommending it to someone else or staying there again.
It was very comfortable with beautiful views of the harbor and bridge. Simple breakfast but it did the trick. Great value for the money!
Just be aware that the inn is not new - has been there some time - but facility has been maintained pretty good! With the location (central downtown Bucksport with views of the new bridge and the fort) - age of place seems less important anyhow... Overall, room is good and location makes it a great value!
Location, Location, Location!!! If you need a stop en route to Acadia - make this the place! Bucksport may just be one of the best kept secrets of Maine... The Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observation Tower steal the show - but there is much more to discover here... Inn is great value for the money & staff more than happy to assist or even just chat while enjoying morning coffee... Great restaurants within walking distance & an ice cream stand with some original flavors to try...
Great breeze off the Penobscot River with wonderful views of the new bridge and the fort. Within walking distance to eateries and other amenities. Loved the mile long walking path along the river.
Bathroom area was small...but OK.
Overall, our accommodations were very good considering that this is an older facility. The staff was very friendly and responsive to our needs. The room was clean and beds comfortable.
The bathroom was very small and out dated. The cost was high for the accomodations
The view of Fort Knox and the new bridge. The room was clean. The windows open.
Rooms need updating. Bathroom was very small.
Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Great view.
The hotel is dated and needs a refresh.
The view from the room was very nice.
the continental breakfast could be expanded a little-
it was barebones - no fridge or microwave but we didnt care - it was CLEAN!
Although private, the toilet & tub/shower room was very tiny.
Our room had a beautiful view of the river, small marina & span bridge. The room was large and the decorations, furniture and bedding were attractive.
Nothing to complain about, really.
We had a room looking at the new bridge--beautiful scenery. The room was a decent value, especially in summer when rooms in the area are difficult to find, clean and comfortable. We would stay here again if we needed a room in the area, although Bucksport itself would probably not be on our list of must-see again. The desk clerk thought to lend us an umbrella, which was very kind of her.
the charming settingm, views, and comfort!
