Comfortable rooms

To far from downtown, staff not very friendly, Lobby small and not very nice. I asked the front desk about the pizza place you can see from the front door and he said he had never been there and did not not know anything about it. You would think someone would try it out and tell the rest of the staff about it. I am sure i am not the first one to ask about it. The alarm clock did not work and i ask two days in a row to have someone fix it or change it out. It was never done. All small things but they add up. Would not stay there again!!!

The person at the front desk was very helpful in organizing shuttles and offering suggestions to make our stay convenient.

I felt due to the fact that we used Booking.com to make our reservation, it ended up in a lot of finger pointing between the hotel and online booking company. Due to circumstances beyond our control (mother nature - a landslide which closed the roads to Skagway and the Alaskan coast), we were initially stuck in another location (Whitehorse, Yukon) with no ability to make it to Juneau by our arrival date. Other operators (White Pass bus line, Alaskan Marine Highway boats) understandably cancelled our reservations, even though we were well past our cancellations deadlines, due to the situation. In the case of Frontier Suites and Booking.com, they both indicated that it was the responsibility of the other party whether a refund should be granted and that the decision was out of their individual control. I felt each was holding up the other party as to the reason why a refund couldn't be granted even though both were empathic to our situation at the time. In the end, we were able to make it after booking alternate air transportation from Whitehorse, but it still left a bad taste about the lack consideration by both parties. As to the hotel, due to a bi-annual Alaskan Natives Peoples celebration occuring in Juneau at the time, Frontier Suites was one of the few properties available for our stay. Prices for accommodation had been increased around town due to the lack of rooms, so we felt that the value for money spent left a little to be desired. It's a convenient location to the airport, ferry terminal and Mendenhall glacier, but a fair distance out of town. The rooms are pretty nondescript, but good enough for a one-night layover.
