The rooms were great: comfy beds, very nicely furnished with comfy furniture and bathrooms were super spacious. The location was great being a short walk from shopping, Chelsea market, and great restaurants.
There is a club next door that has loud music until late and there is a lot of late night activity and noise. There was an issue on my floor with a guy drunk and/or drugged shouting in the hallway. It took over an hour for 10 police officers to get him calmly into the elevator at 5am in the morning. Called the front desk and they apologized and that was all the consideration given.
Very contemporary and spacious rooms. Elevators were always timely and the staff was very welcoming.
The shower would not drain so while taking a shower the bathtub filled with water so that it came up to almost my knees an water drenched the floor. I did not have time to call maintenance to look at the issue which is my fault. That's the only complaint I have.
Great location in meat packing district.
There was a rather loud domestic dispute and arrest in the room next door. The hotel compensated me for half the cost of my stay but that didn't truly compensate for the feeling of being unsafe and uncomfortable in a hotel which is meant to be luxurious and is very pricey. I'm disappointed.
Stayed there 2 nights. Both nights i got woken up around 4 am by drunk teens for knowking heavily on my room door because they were knocking on the wrong room number. Not to mention one night there was an after hour until 4 am, the next night the afterhour party started at 5 am!!! In the morning until 6:30 am.
love the staff..the bars...great hotel for the area.so much to do.love love love it
The housekeeper coming and knock on our door a few times per day
Great location as meat packing district is up and coming, so lots of great shops, restaurants, clubs and bars and room for more! if you are looking for something a little edgy and want to steer away from the very corporate hotels midtown this is a good bet. good room size, plunge bar was a good place for a drink, very hip. I loved this hotel and would stay again.
Guests at the bar could be noisy at night, thanksgiving weekend was not that busy but can imagine this could annoy people if the hotel was full. I don't mind a bit of noise but if you do make sure you don't get a room on the top floors. Air-con was a bit noisy. Water and any more than two coffees have to be paid for and at this price it really should be free.
Courteous staff throughout visit. High standard of rooms (great view across to Hudson). Comfortable bed and good bathroom Little street noise (was on 12th)
Bar prices a little high Pillows too soft for my liking
The location was good but the high level of street and hotel fan noise was an issue. We moved from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor but this did not make the situation much better and I had to sleep with ear plugs in. Reception and lobby staff were good but Housekeeping was obtrusive and kept knocking on the door (or loudly knocking on neighbouring doors and shouting "Housekeeping") and entering the room when we were in the room even when the room had been cleaned. A Do Not Disturb sign or a sign asking for turn down etc services would have been useful.
Perfect location for travellers: West Village, Soho and Chelsea are in walking distance and the nearby metro stops make it fairly easy to go up town in about 10-15 minutes.
Staff at the reception and also the door men are rude and unwilling to assist. The window was broken and the air condition/heating was producing a lot of draft and cold air though it was set on heating mode. And while even in 3* Hotels you can borrow umbrellas free of charge when it starts raining, at the luxury Gansvoort guests must buy the logo branded ones. WiFi was provided free of Charge but obviously outdated and not of sufficient quality to check emails! Ah, did I mention that I had to BUY an adapter for my charger because I forgot to bring my own...?
Great rooms, excellent bed, nice view. Extremely confortable.
Restaurant and bar service very slow. No drawers for storing your clothes and more light needed in the room and bathroom at night.
Great location. Room was comfortable and quite spacious. Staff friendly and helpful.
Other guests were noisy, especially those returning to their rooms in the early hours. The Pinot Noir in the hotel bar was very disappointing.
Overall, we had a lovely time. I was just a bit put off by the fact that we payed a high price for staying here, but every single thing in the hotel room had a price tag attached to it. We felt like it was too much in-room marketing and didn't like feeling like we couldn't actually use the nespresso capsules laid out, as they were $3 each! Hotel staff was a bit cold as well, despite being helpful.
Great location. Nice rooms - very modern.
Bouncers / door men outside and at the elevators were unfriendly and unwelcoming. You don't like to be treated as an intruder going back to your room in the evenings - just because you are not dressed up for going to the night club in the penthouse in the hotel.
Profesional and friendly staff, beautiful interior, nice rooms, great swimmingpool area and rooftop bar.
Breakfast (their "continental breakfast" has nothing to do with continental breakfast, more like a ton of cakes). Your even had to pay for the coffee on the room. Only go to this hotel if you want to party.
Room good but small - value poor lacks generous spirit - exudes money grasping in detail
Meaness - see comments above
Excellent hotel in a great location for Greenwich and West Village which is 2 minutes away. Staff were very helpful and made you feel very welcome. Rooms are spacious, quiet and well designed. Meatpacking district is very young and lively at night, with lots of bars and restaurants just a few steps away.
The only thing that makes it worthwhile is the fact that it is in the meatpacking area. Rooms are fine. At night the noise level from the music and traffic is very loud.
Most of the staff are not at all cordial. Not polite and borderline rude. especially the Room service staff, they were appalling.
Front desk would not honor reservation. Wanted me to spend a minimum of $200 dollars more for an upgraded room. Said didn't have room. But Booking.com person called and got a room--the same type of room. Imagine that.
