Location, helpful staff and great rooftop bar.
Bed was lumpy and beyond its useful life. No accessible rooms with roll in shower.
The attention to detail on behalf of the staff is extraordinary! And the location couldn't be better, right in the heart of it all.
Great shops, bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel. Hotel was very trendy and the room was a great size.
You have to pay for everything! Nothing is included, not even tea and coffee! And if you did want a coffee there was no milk.
I loved everything!!! The rooftop, the rooms, your security guards are wonderful and very respectful.
Didn't like that the coolest things in the room you had to pay for.As far as coffee.. Why only use 1 illy cup if more people stayed in room? Wished some amenities weren't so pricey. But that basically is the only thing I can seem to say I disliked.
We live in New York city and we have been coming to the Gansevoort for the past 7 years, several times per year to stay one night..we love it. The atmosphere at the lobby is great, the roof top DJ is great! we usually come in the summer and the pool is amazing- but this time it was too cold .....we never bring the kids with us..but this next time, I belive we will also bring the kids and take a bigger room.
TWO MINOR MINOR issues: the stream at the shower is too weak... and the queen size bed was too small...there was enough room to fit king size bed..
The service was very good. Room was comfortable. Nice views.
Really loud music on the weekend until 3am!!!
location was great, room was nicely decorated, clean, and spacious enough (for NY standards), wifi worked well and was for free
airco wasn't functioning optimally at night there was a bouncer at the hotel entrance for those looking to visit the roof top bar and he wasn't especially kind to hotel guests
Me and my bf had such a great time - the room was excellent, super clean, and quite large. The bathroom was very spacious (something I really take quite seriously) and the bed was large and very comfy. The location is absolutely amazing!
The view wasn't great (we stayed on the 6th floor) but it wasn't a deal breaker.
Close to great restaurants, clubs and shopping.
Hard to get a cab but the cold weather might have been the reason. 2 degrees!!
A drab and dark reception area...not very welcoming or pleasant to sit in...lumpy bed...delux room overlooked Hudson (glimpses) but mainly over a very noisy building site!!.....top floor bar was nothing special ...overall hotel is tired and in need of a complete make over and would not recommend or stay again for the price. Stayed in Dreams last year and wished we had stayed there again...
Comfortable bed, good water pressure, good location.
Doorman/security guy was rude. The automatic revolving door was confusing and it ended up stopping while I was in it, so I hit my head on the glass door. He acted like this was MY fault and was very brusque. The entire hotel seems like it was probably REALLY cool in 2008, but now it just seems like a dated club. There is also a ridiculous amount of products placed around the room, encouraging you to BUY MORE STUFF. Maybe I've stayed in too many NY hotels, but I wasn't very impressed with this one.
Room was amazing as was lobby and rooftop. Great wifi.
Bathroom not as up to date as pictures make you believe. Advertising in the room, you can buy everything from a bathrobe to underwear or duck massager (some people might like this I found it very strange) not as luxurious as advertised.
Staff were always very helpful and polite, the room was comfortable and had all necessary facilities.
The surrounding shops, bars and amenities were interesting and the area was pretty. The hotel was immaculate and attractive and staff very friendly.
The facilities are more suited to a stay during warmer weather as the rooftop is the main event and the spa facilities are not very elaborate. That being said it was all still lovely.
Location. Trendy. Beautiful room.
Way too expensive.
Location and Room Service
Booking.com was terrible to work with. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I spoke to multiple people and every single one had no idea what they were talking about. I requested rooms to accommodate 6-7 people, didn't matter the room or price but enough to sleep 6-7 people and apparently it was rocket science. Each of the multiple people I spoke to barely spoke English and kept saying they called the Gansevoort but couldn't get in touch with anyone. When I specifically said, every time I call, someone answers, so I don't understand what you are talking about. I finally decided to just go to the Hotel and hope for the best, I had 2 rooms but almost double the price I was quoted over the phone. Whatever. Once I got to the hotel we had dinner at The Chester and it was 150 degrees in the restaurant. If I wanted to be in a sauna I would have went to the Spa. Our server was rude. My sister asked if there was ANY way she could have a House Salad since she was allergic to the salads on the menu and our server said, "no because our chef is very picky and specific about his salads". I was flabbergasted that she would even say something like that to a person willing to PAY for a House Salad! I spent $2,000 in 24 hours and continuously got mistreated. Then we got ready and headed up to our VIP table where I had reserved for over 1 month but was denied bc apparently my Gansevoort Planner Christina reserved a VIP table at Gansevoort Park when I specifically requested Gansevoort Meatpacking! They denied us at the door and said there were no tables available! Then all of a sudden when they heard we would pay for a table, one suddenly opened up! Originally we had a deal where we bought 1 bottle for $350 and got the 2nd house bottle for free. But bc our planner Christina screwed up our reservation we only could get 1 bottle! I had to pay another $100 for another round of drinks after our bottle was done.
Views of the Hudson from the room Rooftop lounge Soaking tubs at the spa Responsive staff (had a light fixture issue, they came up immediately and replaced the entire fixture in less than 10 minutes)
slow internet connection
We loved staying in the village and the staff was accommodating.
Rowdy neighbors and a rock hard bed made for restless nights.
Very convenient, excellent staff,
The matters was poor quality or overused
The hotel is in a great location, it is good to be away from the very busy areas. Highly recommend this location.
The room was really nice but full of mini bar products for sale… it looked too much. The bar upstairs lacked atmosphere and was overpriced.
the view, the service, the atmosphere
the vanity mirror & beauty products cheapen the space--also, I would update the rooms with modern artwork- eliminate the photography- they appear dated now.
Close to great restaurants. Easy to get to other places.
Prefer coffee in the room instead of espresso. The spa isn't great.
