Score from 1084 reviews Excellent
Staff were always very helpful and polite, the room was comfortable and had all necessary facilities.
The surrounding shops, bars and amenities were interesting and the area was pretty. The hotel was immaculate and attractive and staff very friendly.
The facilities are more suited to a stay during warmer weather as the rooftop is the main event and the spa facilities are not very elaborate. That being said it was all still lovely.
Location. Trendy. Beautiful room.
Way too expensive.
Location and Room Service
Booking.com was terrible to work with. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I spoke to multiple people and every single one had no idea what they were talking about. I requested rooms to accommodate 6-7 people, didn't matter the room or price but enough to sleep 6-7 people and apparently it was rocket science. Each of the multiple people I spoke to barely spoke English and kept saying they called the Gansevoort but couldn't get in touch with anyone. When I specifically said, every time I call, someone answers, so I don't understand what you are talking about. I finally decided to just go to the Hotel and hope for the best, I had 2 rooms but almost double the price I was quoted over the phone. Whatever. Once I got to the hotel we had dinner at The Chester and it was 150 degrees in the restaurant. If I wanted to be in a sauna I would have went to the Spa. Our server was rude. My sister asked if there was ANY way she could have a House Salad since she was allergic to the salads on the menu and our server said, "no because our chef is very picky and specific about his salads". I was flabbergasted that she would even say something like that to a person willing to PAY for a House Salad! I spent $2,000 in 24 hours and continuously got mistreated. Then we got ready and headed up to our VIP table where I had reserved for over 1 month but was denied bc apparently my Gansevoort Planner Christina reserved a VIP table at Gansevoort Park when I specifically requested Gansevoort Meatpacking! They denied us at the door and said there were no tables available! Then all of a sudden when they heard we would pay for a table, one suddenly opened up! Originally we had a deal where we bought 1 bottle for $350 and got the 2nd house bottle for free. But bc our planner Christina screwed up our reservation we only could get 1 bottle! I had to pay another $100 for another round of drinks after our bottle was done.
Views of the Hudson from the room Rooftop lounge Soaking tubs at the spa Responsive staff (had a light fixture issue, they came up immediately and replaced the entire fixture in less than 10 minutes)
slow internet connection
We loved staying in the village and the staff was accommodating.
Rowdy neighbors and a rock hard bed made for restless nights.
Very convenient, excellent staff,
The matters was poor quality or overused
The hotel is in a great location, it is good to be away from the very busy areas. Highly recommend this location.
The room was really nice but full of mini bar products for sale… it looked too much. The bar upstairs lacked atmosphere and was overpriced.
the view, the service, the atmosphere
the vanity mirror & beauty products cheapen the space--also, I would update the rooms with modern artwork- eliminate the photography- they appear dated now.
Close to great restaurants. Easy to get to other places.
Prefer coffee in the room instead of espresso. The spa isn't great.
Sounded like there was a utility closet above our room and all we could here was loud noises all night.
Room was well stocked, and decent size. Trendy hotel in a hip area very near the highline.
Bed was firm enough for a good nights sleep but mattress protectors & plastic sheet under the linen sheets made it a lumpy crackly pile of uncomfortable. After I told housekeeping the plastic sheet was removed but it did not improve the situation.Bar on top floor we were looking forward to using was overcrowded standing room only and rented out to outside guests for parties. We were served drinks despite this but were not allowed to drink them in peace & were asked to move 4 times by hotel staff all around the room despite crush of people after which we gave up& left. Had to wait 10 minutes for lifts to get to our room in the evenings because of parties on top floor as no dedicated lifts for hotel guests only. Housekeeping knocked at 7.30 every day & once walked in without waiting very annoying considering late nights we had.
Design of the lobbie and rooms, the Rooftop lounge bar, The room Service, The Security staff. The location is perfect for enjoying a different part of Manhattan!
The breakfast should be no a la carte, but they can organize a buffet. No boiler in the room, just illy capsules, the first is free, the others cost 3.00$ each but it's no written anywhere. The water costs 9$ per 1l ... The SPA should be closed, they don't have any idea about a SPA!!! Incredible! No words for a realistic description ...
Very nice hotel right in Meatpacking district, close to Chelsea Rket, West Village, the Hudson and the high line. Also loved the rooftop pool and lounge :)
Heating system was poor I'm our room even after we had housekeeping come to fix the problem. I colones at check out, was charged full rate, and have yet to receive a response about any amendments to the rate we paid.
Hotel is in excellent location with great restaurants and shopping all around! Highly recommend this for all sorts of trips! 2nd time staying there and will be our hotel of choice for all future stays in NYC.
Only real fault I could find was I could not get a coffee in reception before 8 in morning. Very minor fault when all the upsides taken into account!!
Everything around and sa out the hotel was great . Nice to be away from all the hustle and bustle !!! But still a nice buzzing environment !!! Will definitely be staying again !!!!!! Sam ( uk)
rooms and roof top club
the lobby bar staff wasn't as attentive as the hotel or roof top club staff which was unexpected. However, the experience was outstanding
Hotel is very swank, staff was very attentive, location is great! Walking distance to soho, Greenwich village.
The only complaint we had was that the quality of the mattresses was poor. Such a swank hotel, with such a high price tag should invest in good mattresses. Nobody in our party sleep well because of this. Mattresses were extremely thin- could feel the bed springs.
Darkness of room and corridors.Noise coming from adjacent rooms because of hotels provision of boom boxes in each room.Shelf space taken up unnecessarily by attempt to push beauty products for sale in room.$9 for a bottle of bedside water which most hotels provide free
The housekeepers and front desk were very professional and friendly. Always on top of their game, good job! Keep up the great service!
The night time doormen not trusting us that we were guests. Also, how they "forced" us to get on an elevator that was packed, even though we opted to wait for the next one. That was quite rude.
The rooms were great: comfy beds, very nicely furnished with comfy furniture and bathrooms were super spacious. The location was great being a short walk from shopping, Chelsea market, and great restaurants.
There is a club next door that has loud music until late and there is a lot of late night activity and noise. There was an issue on my floor with a guy drunk and/or drugged shouting in the hallway. It took over an hour for 10 police officers to get him calmly into the elevator at 5am in the morning. Called the front desk and they apologized and that was all the consideration given.
Very contemporary and spacious rooms. Elevators were always timely and the staff was very welcoming.
The shower would not drain so while taking a shower the bathtub filled with water so that it came up to almost my knees an water drenched the floor. I did not have time to call maintenance to look at the issue which is my fault. That's the only complaint I have.
Great location in meat packing district.
There was a rather loud domestic dispute and arrest in the room next door. The hotel compensated me for half the cost of my stay but that didn't truly compensate for the feeling of being unsafe and uncomfortable in a hotel which is meant to be luxurious and is very pricey. I'm disappointed.
Stayed there 2 nights. Both nights i got woken up around 4 am by drunk teens for knowking heavily on my room door because they were knocking on the wrong room number. Not to mention one night there was an after hour until 4 am, the next night the afterhour party started at 5 am!!! In the morning until 6:30 am.
