I didn't feel I spent too much money. I felt pampered in a 1920's top-of-line hotel. The room was so unlike any hotel room I ever rented in my price range. The firnishings were all very comfortable and the staff were all very helpful.
Liked the location near trolley cart, bus lines and not far from Union Station. Room was comfortable and decorated in original style. Reception staff were quick, efficient and informative, particularly Merry who was a wealth of knowledge about nearby attractions and how to get there. Definitely recommend this place
Being hard but the lifts were slow and noisy carried through the walls.
Comfortable bed, big room, quiet. God location in middle of gaslamp district.
Very central and right on the doorstep of the Gas Lamp entertainment
No free parking. Apart from the cost, I hate valet parking. The hotel charges you and the attendant expects a tip as well. I don't like it and I'm perfectly capable of parking my car myself. We had a medical emergency and the guy behind the reception desk was hopeless - thank god for the valet attendant!!
The decor was beautiful and unique. Very nice, spacious and clean room
Price was a bit high for one night stay, however it was 4th of July weekend
Room Size Location Ease of Check In/Out
$30 valet only (would be nice to park my own car) Glass Door to Room w/ 1" gap on the bottom (Very Loud) Fixed Single Pane Windows (Very Loud Street Noise) The Breakfast is a continental and they advertise it as breakfast (2 types of cereal, toast and pastry) Overpriced Stains on Furniture Malfunctioning Lamps and Light Switches Free wifi on Roof and Building Foyer but not In rooms No Ammenities
Bed was too firm. There's also a nightclub in the basement of the building so at night, you actually can hear the bass pumping through the walls of the hotel. Kinda annoying if you're trying to get a good night's sleep.
We had 2 mini suites for our family of 4 (teenage children). The rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean and classically decorated. The elevators were quick. The location was right in the middle of the gaslamp area, with plenty going on nearby.
The busy street, was very noisy and the windows do not keep out the noise. Modern hotels have far better noise insulation. The fondue restaurant located next door was expensive. The breakfast on the roof terrace had a very limited selection.
Staff was very friendly, and helpful.Hotel was a great place for a fun stay in S.D. Only minus would be the free breakfast, it would not impress anyone
Breakfast, not good nuf said
Great location, nice staff, clean room
Could hear the people screaming in the room next door and in the hallway. Hair dryer caught fire.
We loved the location. Valet was fantastic!! The view from our room and roof top was amazing!
We were hoping for a little more variety with breakfast.
I thought I'd been given the wrong room it was so large and inviting. All of the staff was great (Merry, you're an easy person to remember). The best part was the peace and quiet (I was convinced I was the only person in the hotel) which was unexpected in a vibrant place like San Diego.
Right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter Large suites Knowledgeable and welcoming staff Very clean and tidy
No breakfast or bar Noise from street
Merry was the heart of that hotel. Her personality, happiness, knowledge of the area were exceptional.
Jennifer at the front desk was super - she answered all our questions and made great suggestions in a very friendly and open manor. She was very positive and genuine. Everyone was really polite and courteous. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to just a about anything that you would want to see by the water. There is just enough access to nightlife and excellent restaurants. I would stay here again.
The music from the street could be heard very muffled on the top floor, but we didn't mind that too much - it added to the ambiance and I slept great, but if you want silence, this isn't it; also, the "continental breakfast" was a little sparce: 2 toast (wheat or white) and cold cereal choices, oat meal, a small selection of danish, and apples; a choice of jellies, butter, and peanut butter for your toast; plus juice, a selection of teas, and coffee. It wasn't "fancy", but it got breakfast covered. I'd add some fruit choices for more variety, and maybe a small fridge for some yogurt choices.
Good central location for all the tourist sites. Very comfortable room including a mini-kitchen area. Breakfast on rooftop terrace with great views of San Diego.
Breakfast with breath-taking views from the rooftop was something to look forward to each morning!
For a hotel this nice and expensive, they should have had an airport shuttle and wifi.
The location is excellent for walking the Gaslamp - - we were a 15-minute stroll away from Petco Park and the Horton Plaza mall. The view from the rooptop is excellent. The staff was very polite. The room was very nicely done, and has the new keycard-swipe technology.
Problems that can be solved: The continental breakfast was a bowl of raisin bran, some apples and self-serve coffee. They shouldn't even bother. The bed was very bouncy - - if my wife wiggled her feet, it moved the whole bed. Facts of life: the hot water comes at a leisurely pace, and the rooms are very small.
Location, great costumer service, confortable room
pay for the parking and breakfast is not the best thing but was fine.
Close to excellent selection of restaurants and bars. Rooms were a good size and comfortable. Continental breakfast was ok in the morning, pastry selection depended on how early you were awake as they tended to get low by 8:30AM. Staff were friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. Mini fridge and microwave were convenient in the room.
At night, the noise from the street can be easily heard in the room (window glazing would greatly assist). However, highlights the excellent location.
We came from LA to watch the Dodger game. The locale was in close proximity to the stadium. The staff were very friendly. The continental breakfast on the rooftop was a plus. Overall, I would definitely come back again.
$32 for parking. Luckily for us we found parking close by for $15 a night.
The staff from the lobby to the top roof are very friendly and warm and always greeted us with a smile. The house cleaners are polite. The men outside the lobby or valet staff are very helpful in giving us directions and where to park for cheaper rates.
location was perfect for us. close to PETCO Park, shopping and tons of restaurants...everything was walking distance. Merry at the desk was extremely pleasant and helpful. The roof top deck was very nice...good place to go in the evening with a bottle of wine.
Continental breakfast was very ho hum. The rooms while pleasnt were pretty dated
great location in the Gas Lamp Quarter. Bedroom was luxuriuos but on small side, however we had a suite which more than made up for the smallish bedroom.
