We actually loved it although the continental breakfast could have had more fruit...
This was the perfect location for our adventures... The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We would totally recommend this place to others and would totally stay here again...
The bed was not comfortable and squeaked a lot.
The location was nice -right on the edge of the Gaslamp district so we could walk everywhere. The staff was wonderful.
Bit noisy on a Friday night due to nearby disco.
Very friendly front desk staff, good location, clean, interesting old building, roof patio. Std rooms might be considered a bit cramped or have odd shape. Suites are downright luxurious.
I only wish that wifi was included in the rate, but not a big deal.
Centralized to great restaurants and night life! The valet and front desk were extremely helpful and friendly.
Happy we were on the 9th floor.....pretty loud o n the street
Gas lamp, deadcenter!
Limited amenities but walking distance to everything needed (gyms, restaurants, drug store etc)
A lot of room, friendly staff
I really didn't think that we should had paid all that money to park the car in valet with the hotel. I think that was the only down side to the hotel or at least they should charge the guess less money.
The Staff was so helpful and friendly that made us feel at home. We love the fact that the room was in such a great location. My family all had a great time.. Thanks and we will be back.
Given its age, the small bedroom is to be expected. There wasn't much room around the queen size bed, but we managed fine.
Very nice historic hotel with a great living room that was spacious and well-appointed for the room rate.
Due to the excellent location, it is very loud. Inside your room you can hear the commotion and loud cackling of the party goers. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a 15k race. It was within walking distance to the start line at Petco Park. We barely got 2 hours of sleep that night and it was very interrupted sleep due to the non-stop city noise of loud people. Even at 3:30 in the morning, my husband and I were still awakened by the street noise of high cackling people. It was awful!
The location is great! Lots of nearby restaurants, pubs and shops and Petco Park is within walking distance.
From the roominess of the suite, to the rooftop terrace, to the price I loved everything about this hotel!! I will definitely be visiting this hotel in the future!
The bathroom has no door to separate the toilet from the sink and shower which was inconvenient . It's also very loud at night, you can hear people's conversations from the streets .
Location is the reason to stay in this hotel. It's right in the heart of gaslamp next to all the bars and restaurants .
I was unable to pay for wifi in my room. I am from the UK and the system would not accept any of my debit cards
Wonderful staff and a spacious suite. The hotel is located close to restaurants and great grocery stores for self catering visitors.
Excellent location! In the heart of downtown, close to all bars.
Valet for one day was $35, too pricey
Location was perfect
The accommodation didn't exactly fit the definition of a suite! The breakfast was poor, although the view from the rooftop terrace was fabulous!
Not Exactly as Advertised
The breakfast didn't have any eggs or meat..but hey--it was complimentary. Didn't expect too much. I didn't like the $32 for valet parking, however it was convenient.
I loved the location. Conveniently located in the heart of what's happening downtown, and less than a 10 minute drive from the airport!
Rooms heading towards E street are too noisy at night. It is busy until 4 am! This makes it hard to sleep. They should instal double windows.
breakfast on the hotel's roof
No paid wifi, street noise is loud at night, made it difficult to sleep
Roof top terrace view was beautiful, the room was very nice, staff is very friendly and helpful
The doors are very thin, so I could hear people walking through the hallways in the middle of the night. Bring earplugs!
Although the building itself is quite old, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and facilities. The location is wonderful for all the gaslamp shenanigans and business at the convention center. We skipped the complimentary breakfast, but the view from the rooftop was incredible; it was definitely a plus.
The hotel owners seriously need to modernise. I checked out after one night because the hotel has not been updated since the 1990s (I would imagine). It is therefore very difficult for staff to clean carpets, beds, sofas etc that are just so old. I felt the room was quite dusty and I woke the following morning with itchy eyes. I didn't bother staying for breakfast. For an extra 50 bucks/night I moved to another hotel and had a wonderful room (of similar size with a fridge) with views of the bay. Best decision I ever made!
Reception staff were so helpful and kind. They gave me directions to local grocery store and made me feel welcome. Also when I checked out early, they were polite and friendly.
This is our second stay and it was just as good as the first. The staff were extremely helpful with all our needs. The hotel has interesting architecture and is located close to everything. We will be back!
one of the staff was rude to our friend while they were in the lobby, waiting for us to retrieve them with our elevator key, I think customer service and friendliness could be improved
perfect location, darling rooms, ideal for a night on the town in the nearby gaslamp, was very happy with the amenities
$8 an hour for wifi - haven't seen such a thing for at least 10 years. It would probably put me off returning. Even the most basic places now offer it free.
Location, roof terrace
Bed was really squeaky for making love.
Excellent location overlooking downtown SD gas lamps. My favorite 5 avenue
The staff was very friendly and caring. We loved the feel of this historic hotel . Enjoyed the rooftop patio
