lack of facilities overall. Room was smaller than advertised and building works were still underway resulting in insufficient access to lifts
Location, cleanliness of room and helpfulness of staff
Shades were impossible to raise up for sunlight in room. One shot off the window when I tried to raise it and others wouldn't go up at all. Television reception was poor. Ongoing construction outside.Hot water ran out for 2nd person's shower
Price and free coffee in lobby.
Room advertised for 4 people but way too small. Very dark and still under construction even though it was advertised as newly renovated. Spent most of our stay waiting for the elevator as there is only one that is working.
The staff was really helpful and great. I loved the room. Compared to other hotels I've stayed at in NYC in that price range they win. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
No washcloths in bathroom and only three standard pillows on bed.
Friendly and clean. Convenient location.
There were two things that didn't make this perfect. First was the elevator issue: there was only one working and it took forever! But that's understandable since they are renovating everything. The second is that the walls are so thin that I could hear everything anyone said on the corridor. Also the housekeeper was very noisy. At about 8am she started vacuuming, talking to people very loud, banging on doors... Annoying!
So the room was amazing, recentely renovated, very cute... Everything was in place, clean, new... And the bathroom I must say is one of the best hotel bathrooms I've ever seen in my life! The location is great, very close to subway stations, drugstores, restaurants, bars...
The renovated room : confortable, cosy, functional.
Only has one elevator, which was periodically out of order. Hotel is being renovated, so noise of drilling occasionally. Reception area being renovated. Room was not cleaned very well - dust on floor and coat still in a cupboard. Service was OK but not great. Could be excellent when it's all renovated, but for the moment just OK overall.
Location good. Comfy bed. Complementary tea and coffee in reception. Room decor was OK.
Since the elevators are quite small and I really liked the staircases connecting the floors, I wanted to take the stairs to the lobby. It would be nice if there was more signage to help get from the 2nd floor to the lobby entrance. I kinda got lost before I popped out.
I liked the old-hotel feel with all the modern conveniences like a flat-screen TV and wifi. I loved the black-and-white bathroom and especially the luxurious shower. It was everything I needed and more.
One slow lift to service > 100 rooms causing much too much waiting time.
Renovated room and great music and free coffe in the lobby
Very noisy, no hot water for a day, Rooms furnitures are old and need a big refresh, so does the lobby. No breakfast available. 1 sole working lift, which forces you to wait long minutes to get to the lobby or your room.
No space for luggage, no room to sit (not like the photo at all), no breakfast option
Still being refurbished so some building noise (daytime only) Only one lift which can be slow
Clean and very comfortable Great location Friendly & helpful staff Small but well equipped rooms
A little tight on room space so mind your shins at the end of the bed!
Helpful and professional staff, free WiFi, free Tea/Coffee, comfortable beds, great location near Empire State Building/Madison/Union Square.
We discovered that we had been charged an extra $500 on arrival however this was quickly rectified and the staff were very apologetic and refunded the amount immediately. Only one automatic lift which was slow at times and on the last day it was broken therefore we had to use the service elevator which with attending staff.
Arrived at the hotel and we were upgraded from our original booking of a queen room to a suite. The suite was just lovely with 2 rooms, a jacuzzi bath and shower and a king sized bed which was so comfortable especially after long days of sightseeing around New York! The location was ideal, not too central but close enough and a quiet area with lots of lovely restaurants nearby. Walking distance from most locations and a subway on the next street.
Plumbing was being upgraded during our stay which would be great. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel.
Great location, very helpful and friendly staff, lovely décor, great music piped into lobby.
Nearly everything, the paper-thin walls, the lack of working utilities (i.e. the elevator), the housekeeping staff that I think forgot they were working and not guests, the rooms wrapping around the elevator shafts, the furniture you could not use because of bad planning (i.e. my desk chair could not pull-out from the desk, with the position of the desk / bed)..... I travel nearly 80% of the time and I realize every hotel is not the ritz, but this was certainly one of the worst hostels, I am hotels I have ever stayed!
The elevator wasn't working latterly in our stay which was only a minor inconvenience.
The bed was amazing, the decor in the bathroom very cool, and the location is perfect. Staff were helpful and in room facilities were good.
Enjoyed the new renovations and decor, room ammenties were lovely.
One of the two Elevators was not working
The bed was comfy
The lobby is dark and strange. There is only one tiny elevator and it is so slow. There is renovations happening everywhere. I have to say that I did not hear much noise so they really do their best not to disturb. The bathroom while completely renovated. It took so long to figure out how to get good water temp. Any way, if saving money is what you need stay here.
I love the location of this hotel. You can stroll over to union square, empire state building, shopping areas. Location location location
Rooms are a bit too dark. Checked in and paid cash, we were rushing to make a reservation and never checked the bill. Hotel refused to refund the deposit claiming they never received it
Great location, bathrooms are great size
All was wonderful
Everything was excellent especially since my previously booked hotel, (booked 3 months ago)advised that they overbooked!this hotel ended up so much nicer than that one
The hotel doesn't offer hot water. If you don't mind showering with cold water then it's perfect for you.
Great location. Comfortable bed. Nice atmosphere.
