room was worn. glass door to the bathroom, why?! The light illuminates the whole room if used in the middle of the night. Plus, little privacy. Black carpet? Yuck. No in room coffee maker, $4 dollar coffee in the lobby, come on. Hard bed. We were excited to stay at this hotel, with all the great reviews but not at all a 4 star.

Nothing really that I didn't like - all was very good.
Very nice hotel, good standard and large rooms for New York. Very attentive staff, especially Angel, who went above and beyond to help us with all different kinds of matters. The restaurant is very good - for being a hotel restaurant. very authentic Italian food.

Noisy (construction going on until late at night) and pretty isolated from restaurants et al at night.
Staff was friendly, restaurant is good.

No breakfast included. Staff should check that the number of towels and toiletries is equal to the guests per room, without being asked.
Staff, free WiFi, cleanliness.

Cute hotel which offers great VFM (for NYC!) as it's slightly off the beaten track. But very well served by the subway system. Not bad sized rooms for NYC too. And great front-desk staff - so helpful. And divine bar/Felice resturant....

Wants to be a 'luxury' hotel but the rooms are packed with junk for sale (food, drinks, water,a robe, etc.) They try to direct everyone to their tiny restaurant or 'wine bar' therefore no freebies - no free breakfast or even a cup of tea or coffee.
Pretty good location, relatively large room, very clean

Easy relaxed atmosphere

A small breakfast might have add more pleasure to the stay. Staff should check that the amount of the towels and toiletries is equal to the number of guests per room, without being told this every night.
Helpful staff, clean, wide room.

The only thing I did not like was the price of the bottled water in the room. $8 seems a bit steep to me.
Gild Hall is a very elegant hotel with exceptionally friendly staff and wonderful furnishings. I had a very comfortable overnight stay and would love to return in the future.

The free WiFi kept throwing up security/sniffing alerts on more than one device - so I chose not to use it in the end. Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Extensive mini-bar - but it seemed especially expensive.
The bar atmosphere on Thursday night when I arrived was great. The staff were nice. The location was great for downtown and well connected - though not very prominent (entrance on Platt Street not Gold Street).

Internet was a bit slow.
Unique atmosphere and good Italian resturant. Friendly staff.

Heat came on loudly every few minutes, finally just turned it off..it was fine didn't get too cold, but I think in the summer with A/C this could be a noisy sleeping issue.
Great décor, staff was fantastic, helpful, didn't really use the place, just there for an overnight, but would certainly go back. Room service was quick and efficient. Room was well appointed, bathroom was good (though chilly)

The look, the staff, the restaurant

The shower made a screeching noise that sounded like a dying animal. It was loud and it didn't stop until you turned the water off. Also, the doors to the bathroom were more or less see-through, which was odd.
The theme is old-school, but with an incredibly fresh twist. The décor in the room was lush: lots of leather, a minibar (you never see those anymore at affordable hotels!), and an enormous flat-screen tv. We felt like we were staying at a hotel worth five times what we paid for it! The staff was also great. They were young, friendly, and helpful. The location was a trade-off. The area is a quiet retreat from the craziness of Times Square, and the hotel is very close to the 9/11 Museum. But it is also far away from Broadway, so if you're running late for your show (like we were!) you have to pay $25 for a cab.

Rooms got very warm overnight even with heat turned down.
Location, staff and overall vibe was great.

This is me being nitpicky - everything was great. The quality of the bed/pillows could have been better but it was still a very comfortable stay! The neighborhood pretty much shuts down early except for 24/7 CVS and 7 Eleven, which should be more than enough for late night essentials, although rare for NYC to be so quiet.
The staff were very approachable and accommodating. The location is super accessible - less than 5 minutes from Fulton St, a transportation hub with lots of different trains to transport you throughout Manhattan and boroughs. The vibe and decor was cool, minimal, had character.

small problem with the shower head. Business Center isn't very business oriented (eg, no way to scan documents, faxing must be done from desk, not business center).
room was roomy and clean, and best of all quiet. Staff were friendly, helpful (eg when I needed some documents faxed) and informed.

Honestly, nothing. The price for room service was steep but you're getting high quality food from felice next door. Any good hotel in the world would be exactly the same price and this is New York.
Super comfy bed. Quiet location yet 5 mins walk to the harbour and bars and restaurants in your doorstep. Simply would have ages being in midtown due to busyness and noise so this was a great location and just two stops from central midtown and beyond. Staff were great. Got a good deal with booking.com. Felice restaurant was excellent, better than a lot near by. Room service pricey but lovely for a treat! Starbucks across the road for cheaper coffee and breakfasts. A whole host of deli's and tons of shops if you walk up to the trade towers which are around 4-5mins walk left at the hotel. Room pretty big for manhattan. Best deal I could find for location and price. We slept so, so well and having a huge, soft bed with soft pillows helped being 6 months pregnant. Staff were great, always helping. Maids cleaned room every day but we didn't like the idea of the cost to the planet with all that washing so left a few days without cleaning. Nice bath products. Shower powerful and hot. Room temp good, hearing works well but sitcom tiny bit noisy. However, we wear earplugs anyway and never had anything on and it was freezing outside a a room temp was still perfect inside. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I've been to nyc numerous times and this is by far the best place. All boxes ticked! Love Dan, Victoria a a the bump.

It was a little bit away from everything we were there to see but that wasn't a big issue!
We had an issue with our room key when we first got there but the staff was quick to fix it! They also left a gift for my boyfriend, we were there for his birthday! Very nice staff!

Not really design to work inside the room even if the hotel is the middle of Wall Street!

I have always stayed at a major brand hotel. I was pleasantly surprised with this 120 room Thompson hotel called Gild Hall! Quiet and comfortable. Perfect in every way...
