Room has gone an big upgrade to its facilities. Beds very comfy and room was pretty overall. If they ask you if you'd like to be near the elevator, take it or expect to walk the LONG>>>LONG hallway to your room!
Light is terrible in the room if you want to read. Water is set to mid-warm so don't expect to get a shower above baby bath temp. The alarm went off in the middle of the night and keep going for 2 hrs. UGH! I actually was startled so bad I fell out of bed! Go to the Palms...much nicer place.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice Casino and pool area. The price is good (sometimes) and the rooms very nice for what you pay. Have stayed before, will stay again!
The "Resort Fee" is a ripoff. Sure would be nice if Boyd Gaming would get the courage to break away from the pack and ditch this hidden fee. I wish they had a Poker Room. The bathroom doors are kind of weird...
Location is central to the strip, and right next to the freeway.
The hotel always seems to smell like cigarettes.
Convenient location to the Strip, good restaurants in the Casino, nice and updated look of the Casino.
Easy to get away from motel, good access to doors.
Had to pay extra for everything, no noise buffer between rooms, sliding door to bathroom that did not shut all the way smoke from casino was in the hallway. No fridge even in upgraded room, we did not want to pay $16.00 for movies.
Location and buffet
I really liked the gift shop and restaurants available in the hotel. The flat screen TV and wall art in my room was nice.
I didn't like the bathroom shower design, and my bed wasn't comfortable. The staff treated me like I was a homeless person (not cool)! Staff was not professional at all.
The MNF promotion, the Cortez room, the buffet, the price of rooms, the low resort fee
The layout of the room - coast casino hotels (with the exception of the sun coast) have a poor room layout - especially the positioning of the bathroom
Easy access to the pool, good eating places ,other hotels are nearby to visit , frequent shuttle bus to the strip, always a sunbed available and the jacuzzi was nice. Good value for money.
Would have prefered a bath and safety deposit boxes in the room.
Quiet and well equipt rooms.
Rude and ignorant staff.
Room and comfort
Very poor ventilation too much smoke. After walking thru the casino you stink like you have been in a smoke party.
We Loved it!!!...from the Bell Men to the Buffet and Ping Pang Pong Chinese Restaurant Dim Sum... the room was perfect, in fact we ordered the bedding on the bed in our room for our own beds at home from the manufacturer out there in Las Vegas..
No minibar in the room and airconditioning was broken. Receptionists very rude and not helpful.
Would be extremely hard to find better service and quality hotel for the amazing low price paid. The free and easy to use wifi did not hurt either (up to 3 devices per room!)
Only complaint was with the TV, there were a few kinks but Gold Coast promptly sent two maintenance men who quickly resolved the problems.
The only thing I liked was the buffet selection
Not having a non smoking section in the casino. I had to breathe other peoples smoke, hence I did not gamble much. At checkout I was not asked if I had a nice stay. Some staff grumpy on casino floor.
The Cortez room has a nice ambiance and friendly staff.
The New York Strip had a strip of gristle all along one side. The food there was only good, not great.
I liked to close proximity to the Rio. The fitness and pool were adequate but a little lacking. Rooms were clean for the most part.
Some rooms had a mildew/moldy odor to them and some of the front desk staff were not the friendliest.
price, comfort, restaurant choices
basic room, which was fine for my solo visit needs
the food at the buffet was awesome!
pillows to hard
the food in the buffet was excellent!
pillows were to hard
One of the elevators was broken when I was there, which made the others all packed when traveling back and forth to your room.
The prices at the restaurants, the pool, the size of the hotel and casino and the location. The rooms were very nice and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job!
The beeping noise 24 hrs a day, but ear plugs solved the problem. I would like to see the pool open earlier than 9am.
Everything is ok with with hotel. Big and clean room, casino and many food options downstairs 24/7, free parking & shuttle to the strip. Waliking distance to the strip.
Staff could be more friendly, windows are protected from opening, so you can not get fresh air, although AC was working properly.
The Gold Coast has come a long way since I first stayed 10 years ago. All the rooms I saw have been improved and updated and reach a higher standard than before. Please do bear in mind that the Gold Coast is still a value/budget option and does not compete with the much more expensive options on the strip. Speaking of value, the buffet is very good for the money, especially prime rib nights on thurs and sun.
air con units are still very noisy. TGIs still serves overpriced, nasty food. I wish they would revert to a cafe/diner that was more affordable.
