Governor Hotel, a Provenance Hotel614 Southwest 11th Avenue, Portland, OR 97205 (Show map)
Excellent,
Score from 29 reviews
“ Location was perfect for exploring downtown Portland and the hotel itself was reasonably priced. Thank goodness there are still a few quality hotels in the USA who provide free WiFi for their guests, unlike some of the bigger chains. Room was a good size and very well appointed. Cannot fault it! ”

Location near the arts district(s). Wonderful architectural restoration visually Single pane windows, street car noise, drunken sidewalk revelers all night long, couldn't sleep! Wish we had been located on a side of the building away from the street car line.

Beautiful building, great location, comfortable bed. Not a lot of space in the room. Table was in the middle of the room and easy to trip on. Couldn't get the fireplace to work. Would have liked a bigger bath tub.

It has a wonderful feel to it. Old world but at the same time upscale. We have stayed there twice now and will always stay there during our future visits to Portland.

A lovely old hotel, carefully tended and restored. Staff was very helpful. One of the problems with older designs is that although relatively spacious and handsomely decorated, the bath had no place to set your toiletries kit.

When I called the front desk to point out that there was a pair of soiled women's underwear still in the room I would have preferred that they offer to move us or send us a complimentary bottle of wine or make some gesture. It is the hotel staff's DUTY to make some gesture of ammends rather that wait to see if the guest will be satisfied with the minimum possible (in this case, "Oh sorry, I'll send housekeeping up"). That might be OK at a budget hotel but not for a hotel positioning itself as a luxury facility. Yes, I could have requested some favor but I shouldn't have to...that's my point.

Front desk staff, professional and helpful. Location good for walking to shops, restaurants. Room was comfortable, particularly the bed, but a bit dated. Needed a refrigerator in room or mini=bar.I Thought the rate was a bit step for a week-day rate--four nights cost me $1000 plus.

Great location. Easy walk to Pearl District, close to metro lines, food carts just around the corner. Our room was upgraded without us asking-- nice surprise. One of the elevators was out, but the staff worked hard to ease the complication of only one elevator. Valet service was quick and easy. At $27 a day, parking was a good deal. No shelves in the bathroom. Staff acknowledged that this was a common complaint. Some rooms have shelves, but many others don'T.

The location is great. There is an excellent restaurant on the ground floor. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Several rooms have fireplaces. When we called the reception desk to ask how to turn ours on, they said that none of the fireplaces work! What a tease!

The Governor Hotel was clean and comfortable with excellent service! We had a spacious room with a seperate living room area at a reasonable price. The convenience of Jake's Restaurant located on site was a plus. Casual and more formal dining was available and the food and atmosphere in both was excellent. We attended a wedding in Portland and the reception was held at The Governor Hotel in the Ballroom. The Ballroom was a great space for a reception and again the food was excellent. Staying at the hotel was convenient for the wedding but also within walking distance of shopping and off site restaurants. It was also convenient for enjoying the many historical and beautiful sites in Portland. The Governor Hotel was a perfect place to stay! A+
