Not a bad experience, it actually turned out very well, but the rooms with 2 twin beds all have an interior (on the building) view. We thought it was a bit depressive. But when we asked the front desk, Darren immediately helped us and got us a beautiful Park view suite!
The check in, the room, the bar, the total atmosphere. It was hip and happening als you could experience in the Rose and Jade Bar, quite in the centre of NYC (!) and still very stylish and luxurious.

Bohemian style so close to everything but so quiet . Feels more like an apartment rather than a hotel. Great concierge very willing to help

The Rose bar was awful. The staff was rude and the place was over-rated. The restaurant was ridiculous. They would not accommodate our family for breakfast . We were an adult party of 8 and asked for them to prepare a table for us at 11 am. We made this request at 10:40 and at the time there was only a father with his small child sitting at the table that could accommodate us. We were more than willing to wait in case they were not finished at 11 but the restaurant staff refused to help. Very poor business especially since we had 4 hotel rooms and spent $1000 at the bar the night before, $600 for dinner on Friday night and several hundred dollars at the bars over the course of the weekend.
The concierge service was excellent as well as the front desk staff

Lazy staff; breakfast not available; you have to book the bar to get a drink in the evening(!!); rooms not ready for check-in until 3.30pm; rooms not cleaned properly; very inflated opinion of themselves given that they can't get the basics right.
Gym wasn't bad

The only thing I would change is the price was a bit high but still a great place and I'll go back
Our Jr Suite was wonderful

The doorman at the bar at night. Very unprofessional and rude

The policy of allowing free wifi in the public areas and charging in the rooms is madness. When you pay a premium for a luxury hotel then free wifi in the rooms is essential. Also the $7 delivery charge for room service, whats that all about? You are already charged 18.5% service on top of the food price.
The hotel is something very different, quirky and wonderful. From the rich colours in the bedroom and general areas to the brilliant works of art. Its location for us was perfect with all areas of Manhattan very accessible.

Great knowledgable and friendly staff. Quiet, large, well decorated and spacious rooms. Very good room service and very comfy lobby with wood burning fireplace. This is our home during our visits to NY

From the minute I walked into the lobby I was blown away. The lobby is decorated very nicly and the smell was wonderful. The women who checked me in was so sweet and when i mentioned it was my birthday she said they would deliver a surprise to my door. When we got back from dinner there was a birthday cake waiting for me and it was delicious! The room was so much bigger than i expected too. Everyone in the hotel was so nice, i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Not gentil at all and very insufficient service !!!!!!

The roof terrace is now -as of a year ago - firmly off-limits to guests of the hotel which is disappointing. Wifi is $16 a day which is just unacceptable in a five-star hotel. I did ask for the charges to be waived on check-in which they were, but they still appeared on my bill and had to be removed. Surely this is not necessary!
The amazing vibe of the lobby and adjacent bars is incredible. All the staff were polite helpful and friendly.

Having to pay for wifi as a guest at hotel was disappointing, but that's the only negative thing I can say about GPH.
I love the location, decor and ambience of the GPH. In every way, this hotel is inspiring!

the charming decor everywhere, the location, the unique feel of the hotel

The concierge lady Joy was wonderful and a huge reason to revisit due to her warmth towards us and helpful hints of where to eat etc. The quartet on Tuesday nights in The Rose Bar is a must for anyone into Jazz. The backed Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett on their tour together. Memorable

Room couldn't be cooled below 77 degrees

Why oh why do they still charge for WiFi? These days it should be free for all residents. One pays enough to stay in the hotel to not be insulted by having to pay for such an essential service.
Fabulous rooms, just what you would expect from a former Schrager hotel. Helpful staff.

They close the upstairs terrace just for private events!
The bars at the hotel are beautiful ! But the restaurant maialino is fantastic!
January 18, 2015
the cramped bathroom
The fabulous staff and location, location, location

That wifi is not for free!
The atmosphere, the location, the interior!

Charging for wifi is cheesy.
Style, comfort, great front of house staff, and perfect Manhattans in the bar.
