The facility was very clean, very quiet and located in a great space.
the limited parking and the "very" small sign on the main highway directing you to the right road.
Setting and the views.
We were there on the very last night of the season and staff certainly seemed like they had had enough!
We were upgraded to a cabin and I would highly recommend requesting one! It was really cozy for a few days of sightseeing and relaxing after our cruise. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Having our own balcony and kitchen was delightful. The views were gorgeous, leaves turning gold!
Cabins are on hillside so you can't park outside your room but they provide transportation in a golf cart type vehicle which is readily available and Jesse the driver was friendly and gave us a lot of sightseeing tips. It was fun!
I loved the service they provided with the Shuttle service. You can get anywhere with the shuttle and they are so friendly! they take care of your bags when you check out, sent them to train station, no worries!
there was nothing I didn't like, I had a wonderful experience and can't wait to go back.
The room, the furniture and the staff.
The view in the Lodge
The service in the bar was horrible, we couldn't get the bartenders attention (with only about three couples in the bar) and she acted irritated when I finally got her attention for a menu and then never came back. Beds are uncomfortable and rooms are cheap. All pictures are of the main Lodge area. The down blanket in the picture of the room wasn't there... Front desk service was awful, took three tries to get checked in. Not worth the money!
The view is excellent, rooms are clean, breakfast is a little pricey but food is top notch. Great choice overall !
...went to the reservations desk spoke with Mike and he was able to get us a room that faced the valley beautiful view ....paid updgrade (which was fine)...thanks Mike
While making the reservations we never were given the opportunity to request a "view" room - we checked in only to find out we faced the mountain and parking lot. Tried to change location and was told nothing available - I offered to pay the upgrade and told no sold out....then
You cannot beat the view, on top of a bluff overlooking the valley. Our trip/stay was early September....so the leaves were in full autumn glow.
Never heard of a place where at least....a continental breakfast was not offered as part of your stay. You pay for anything, and everything here. And it's not cheap!
Staff were very helpful. Having the bags delivered from the Alaska train to and from was excellent. The shuttles made getting around so easy. Food was excellent.
Plenty of hot water in shower, all the expected tv stations, coffee brand in room was good.
Entry road and parking is marginally maintained (potholes). Rooms are on the non-view side of the building (view is dirt parking lot) Only as adequate as a typical Alaska motel. Had great potential for food but missed.
Room was large and comfortable .As we traveled independently the lack of information we received on arrival fell short ,thus eating in to our time to get orientated and fully use the Lodges facilities and make good use of our time in and around the town it self.
Location of room ,overlooked the car park and service area. As the weather was hot during our stay it would have been a more pleasant stay when resting in our room to have a better outlook and be able to open the windows toilet in fresh air. Lighting was poor and this was increased by desk and bed lamps globes not working ,when we rang through to seek assistance staff were polite and stated that this would be remedied but this did not occur during our short stay.
Our room was very clean and had a lovely balcony that overlooked Denali National Park. The views from the lodge were amazing. Great service.
A wee bit pricey, but most things were in the Denali area. A box of cereal at the local gas station was $12, to give you an idea. So things cost more in the more remote areas. If you only stay one night, it doesn't break the bank. Conveniently located by the park entrance.
The lobby area has nice view.
The winding drive up the hill to the hotel is very inconvenient.
Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. There was a great view from the restaurant.
The rooms had almost no furniture in them. The tv was ancient. The lodge was located way up on bluff, impossible to walk to shops and restaurants. Even the tour buses won't come up there; you have to take a shuttle to another location to get picked up. And for this they charge over $300 a night!
The grounds were okay. The restaurant had some charm and the wait servers were veer kind.
Toilet did not work or flush and repairs did not help. We are both over 60 and need a clean bathroom. There were also left over dirty wash cloths in the bathroom. The room felt dirty. I would like a refund. Also, we were suppose to a room with a canyon view...our view was the top of the mountain and another set of rooms. The canyon was not visible. This was our first trip together to Alaska and the Grande Denali Lodge made a bad impression.
Location, lobby, restaurant(but not the food)
The staff except for the immediate front desk staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. The cook staff on the shuttle bus wreaked of pot. We spent the next night at the Princess Lodge. What a wonderful staff.
The view from the laodge was spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to book our trip through Denali Park from the lobby desk.
My reset was interupted by the airconditioner cooming off and on. I was eihter too hot or too cold.
The location is very convenient and beautiful. The staff was welcoming.
The facility is very noisy. You can hear every noise and voice from the hall and other rooms. The pillows were hard foam and very uncomfortable. Inadequate power outlets. Definitely over priced compared to other hotels in the area.
Had reservations and still had to wait 40 min for room to be (checked after cleaning) staff at desk were not apologetic and ignored another couple in the same situation. That gentleman was handicapped and needed assistance on and off train and the bus to the hotel. Staff did not seem aware that he was in extremely uncomfortable waiting that long after a long day. I did notice from the deck area that additional area of stone support has slid and there is need to look at stability of the support structure under the restaurant deck area.
Very nice facility
Housekeeping was not very good. Price was very high but that was mostly due to the location.
Great location. The large room had a partial mountain & town view which was very nice. It has a shuttle to town.
A expensive for a good hotel room.
Food and drinks were great. The location was fabulous.
Didn't like that they precharged my credit card before we checked in. We wanted to pay with cash.
The location, the view, the big room, great Bed
Check in was very slow, I felt sorry for the girl on the front desk she was alone and did try hard to help out with the check in"
