The location was the best

Big renovation in progress, dind't notice me before there. Barely appologies with no compensation.

They are going through a big renovation and the rooms are complete but the lobby is a mess. Plastic sheeting hanging everywhere and no coffee service in the lobby right now. I am sure that it will be completed soon and everything will get back to normal.
The staff was friendly and always ready to accomodate us. The room was just as I remembered small but very clean and comfortable. It is a no-frills hotel but I didn't go to San Francisco to stay in a hotel all day. Just needed something clean, safe, and comfortable to come home to at the end of the day of sightseeing.

Spartan room, just like in a monastery: bed, chair, mini-table, TV. That's it. Outdated. The Grant is living of San Francisco's popularity and charging far too much money for this kind of level.

The hotel is undergoing renovation, but you're not told this before you arrive. I had to ask to change rooms because the original room was on the floor being renovated and full of dust and noise. The second room was ok but the really old radiator made really loud noises when it came on in the night and kept us awake.
Great location just at the start of China Town, close to transport and walking distance to a lot of sights.

Only comment would be to encourage the hotel to go green and not change towels every day unless the guest asks it. And make sure the staff understands this. I asked but it was not understood.

The repairs and noise going on in the hotel. The lift needs to be replaced.
It was safe

The bed left spring marks on our bodies. The bed was not good for sleeping or relaxing. The one thing that a hotel is good for is sleeping, and it did not fulfill it's purpose and we would never stay here again for this one reason.
It was a good place to leave.

safe at night and near everywhere

Rooms are small, there is no closet, temperature is controlled by them so you have to choice over how cold or hot you can be.
It is in a great location right at the entrance of china town.

The building itself was a bit old and run down (they were doing construction on the 2nd floor). The room got really hot in the morning.
The front desk lady was nice and upgraded us to a higher room with street view for no charge! The room itself is a bit small but the bathroom is renovated. The best thing about this hotel is that it's walking distance from EVERYTHING.

Cost No tea making facilities in room
March 23, 2015
Pretty expensive for what I would call a 2-star hotel. Beds are too short (my legs hurt in the morning).
Location is great, one block in from the Dragon Gate (Chinatown's entrance). Hotel rooms (except for scuffs on the walls) are very clean. No bedbugs, unlike many other cheap hotels in the area.

It was not possible to stay here.

Dust, staff that didn't tell us of coffee, tea ect
March 12, 2015
The music playing downstairs all day.

A mirror in the bedroom would had help greatly. While my sister was using the bathroom, I could have been putting my make-up on, but there was no mirror!
I love the location. The room was nice and very the bed was very comfortable. The only thing the room was missing was a full length mirror.

Rooms small and issue with payment
Showers were nice

The fact that the heating system was not working, it is winter and the temperature reached as low as 45 degrees. The hotel was undergoing some renovations therefore the place was dusty and messy. But the worst of all, the demolition work was starting at 8am. (Couldn't even wait until 9 or 10am) No respect what so ever for the guests.
I loved the location of the hotel.

We arrived and our room was filthy from the last occupants. We then got moved to another room which stunk heavily of paint fumes...Very poor for two asthmatics! The bed was also one of the worst beds I've ever slept in. The pictures are nothing like the actual rooms.
Location was good, not too far to walk to market street.

Construction on going
I like the hospitality and outright response of your staff

The staff are beautifully polite and helpful. A professional service all round. I am a frequent traveler and I really hope this business flourishes.
