the hotel down stairs was very good bed rooms very tied need up dating all so the bedding a little worn but staff very good
I much enjoyed my stay at Grants Hotel. I had a quiet, spacious, comfortable room, the hotel is excellently run, it is in a superb location, I would love to stay there again, and certainly recommend it to other travellers. Many thanks!
I had a place to lay my head at night.
The pictures advertised were not as true when I actually saw the hotel rooms.
No air conditioner Carpet is not that clean and looks old Pillows smell
Excellent location and value for money. Comfortable bed, room size larger than expected.
Wi-Fi is only available for one device. Cleanliness could be slightly better, but all in all still an excellent deal.
Location, good room with bath, quiet at night. Could get to Chinatown, shopping, on the trolley and piers without trouble, the surroundings where safe to walk, will return gladly.
The Grant Hotel has a lovely historic ambiance. We found the staff helpful at all times. Though the breakfast was muffins/ pastries, fresh apples were always available as well as coffee and tea. The Hotel is clean and nicely located. Our room was at the back on the 5th floor and quiet. We were able to keep our window open for fresh air and some mornings enjoyed the sounds of birds. We would definitely return - it was great value for the cost and very comfortable and safe with a great central location for Union Square, the BART, cable and street cars. We would recommend it.
I like the room it's really nice, value of money and location is perfect
Room smell, hair dryer, heater not working, a lot hair on the bed
It is quite close to Union Square. Smiling cleaning staff.
Wi-fi was very poor, but I think it is the general case in downtown SF hotels. The elevator is kinda scary.
location, cleanness, Wifi
The location was the best part of this hotel.
location was good
No fridge in room
Very good location, staff at the front desk were polite and nice, our room on the first floor was very quiet. Large bathroom. Very good, free coffee. It was also nice with the complementary coffee and pastries/croissants in the morning.
I missed a hairdrier.
Very clean and excellent upkeep. convenient location, two blocks from Union Square, and few blocks to Market St. Very clean, housekeepers were friendly. It is a very comfortable place to stay.
Front desk staff weren't friendly.
The hotel location in downtown, near to shopping mall, near to union square
Situation of hotel size of room good
Some parts of the hotel tired area for eating breakfast too small for number of rooms
-Beautiful building! -Clean -Location
-rude staff at reception (older woman) -breakfast
Proximity to Cable Cars, places to eat and Market Street. We were on the fifth floor and there was no traffic noise. The staff was friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was provided but was basically Danish pastries and apples. Tea and coffee was available all day. The bathroom was brand new!
Only one elevator which was old and slow.
- price - location - clean room - elevator
- the wall 1 meter outside the window - poor wifi quality - no REAL breakfast, cookies and black coffee doesn't count for food
The only positiv point is that hotel is near union station and Market Street, which are some famous districts.
The Chinese staff was not friendly at all, not saying hello, not helpfull. We had a problem with the toilet that have been blocked and we had to fix it ourselves, nobody came to see . Every night we heard the Chinese staff talking, screaming , slamming doors. Furthermore every night there was loud music that kept us awake. It's very badly soundproofed. We would not recommend this hotel.
The location is very convenience if you want to go around of San Francisco down town and touristic places. The staff is very kind, the room was neat and clean
WiFi may be improved
We were two mature couples in two rooms so we could compare them. The one was definitely smaller with a small en suite but we could cope. Both rooms were rather dark as both windows looked out onto a wall, but there was adequate lighting. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space to hang clothes. I used the internet each day for free and the signal was good enough to "skype". No coffe or tea making facilities in the room but one could get both or other beverages in the lobby 24 hrs a day. Most were free but you paid a dollar for some specialities ie cappacinno. This was where you had the breakfast of croissants or cakes with your drink. The location was downtown and close to the cable cars, street cars and buses which we used to get around to all the areas.
We found the breakfast to be repetative and lacking and would have liked toast and jam and maybe cereal and fruit juice or the like. However the pastries they provided were from a bakery were very nice and would have cost a lot. The staff were reasonably helpful though a few didn't have good English so couldn't help us with our queries.
Friendly efficient staff
Complimentary Breakfast was marginal
