The hotel location in downtown, near to shopping mall, near to union square
Situation of hotel size of room good
Some parts of the hotel tired area for eating breakfast too small for number of rooms
-Beautiful building! -Clean -Location
-rude staff at reception (older woman) -breakfast
Proximity to Cable Cars, places to eat and Market Street. We were on the fifth floor and there was no traffic noise. The staff was friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was provided but was basically Danish pastries and apples. Tea and coffee was available all day. The bathroom was brand new!
Only one elevator which was old and slow.
- price - location - clean room - elevator
- the wall 1 meter outside the window - poor wifi quality - no REAL breakfast, cookies and black coffee doesn't count for food
The only positiv point is that hotel is near union station and Market Street, which are some famous districts.
The Chinese staff was not friendly at all, not saying hello, not helpfull. We had a problem with the toilet that have been blocked and we had to fix it ourselves, nobody came to see . Every night we heard the Chinese staff talking, screaming , slamming doors. Furthermore every night there was loud music that kept us awake. It's very badly soundproofed. We would not recommend this hotel.
The location is very convenience if you want to go around of San Francisco down town and touristic places. The staff is very kind, the room was neat and clean
WiFi may be improved
We were two mature couples in two rooms so we could compare them. The one was definitely smaller with a small en suite but we could cope. Both rooms were rather dark as both windows looked out onto a wall, but there was adequate lighting. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space to hang clothes. I used the internet each day for free and the signal was good enough to "skype". No coffe or tea making facilities in the room but one could get both or other beverages in the lobby 24 hrs a day. Most were free but you paid a dollar for some specialities ie cappacinno. This was where you had the breakfast of croissants or cakes with your drink. The location was downtown and close to the cable cars, street cars and buses which we used to get around to all the areas.
We found the breakfast to be repetative and lacking and would have liked toast and jam and maybe cereal and fruit juice or the like. However the pastries they provided were from a bakery were very nice and would have cost a lot. The staff were reasonably helpful though a few didn't have good English so couldn't help us with our queries.
Friendly efficient staff
Complimentary Breakfast was marginal
Location, size of room,wi fi. Welcome was good.
Breakfast was fair, limit of time for coffee. No tea or coffee making in room.
Location great Near tram lines Value for money
Seemed to have a strange smell about the place
Location is great. Elevator worked. Shower worked with hot water- great. Reception was helpful.
The building is old. Could do with an update or a fresh coat of paint. Musty smell, no fresh air in the rooms. Hated the basin in the main room which is the bedroom. Bathroom needs to be updated, looks oldish. Sheets could have been white instead of grayish white. Room needs an air conditioner. Best thing about the hotel is the location. Breakfast area should not be in reception.
The quietness of the area
Position Cost Inside the room was very good - with a big bathroom All very clean
The corridors etc looked a bit dated but once in the room we were satisfied. Breakfast was a bit limited
room for breakfast in the lobby with only 2 tables for all the hotel
The Grant Hotel has changed since I last stayed there.I like that the bathroom has a soap and lotion dispenser on the wall, shampoo and body gel dispenser in the shower. The staff were very helpful and didn't have any problems coming in afterhours.
It wasn't the hotel's fault but the wi-fi was weak on my smartphone.I was on the second floor and going into the lobby the signal was better.I had to use the computer which was actually convenient for this trip.
Bed Linen was poor. No airconditioning. Owners were a bit unprofessional. No diningroom. Very old.
location was very handy
no coffee and tea facilities in the room
Coffee facilities . Needed in the room , or 24 hour availability in foyer No fan or air conditioner in room But when asked staff they gave me a fan
The coffee The service
Too little space for breakfast. Very limited choice at breakfast.
We were happy with our room.
Not enough seating for breakfast compared with amount of guests. We only had one chair in our bedroom so definitely not enough seating.
Friendly staff. Super location. Good value.
This is an older hotel. As such, there is no AC, the doors are stiff, and the like. But great value for the money.
Room was good sized. Bathroom was big. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. Price was good.
The room had no view, but we did not care. It was nice and quiet
Positives: friendly check in staff, able to leave bags there, clean rooms, coin laundry 2 doors up, good value for money especially since accommodation in San Fran can be quite pricey. Negatives: you only get one wifi code per person for one device only.
Loved the location and easy access to city sights, eg Fishermans Wharf, Hop on Off bus, supermarket and cafes.
No cereals or yoghurt for breakfast.
