I liked nothing.
The pool was OK. In desperate need of painting, though.
Everything else. I can take budget hotels and everything that comes with them, but if the room is visibly dirty (areas not vacuumed for a long time), it's despicable. That, and the fact that the desk area (in the room) smelled like puke (last guest?). Horrible. The only reason place like that is still in business is the lack of mid-range hotels in Carlsbad. There are 3 being currently built, so I hope places like Great Western Inn will be history soon.
Carpet was completely disgusting. There was grim on the tile and mold in the bathtub. There were holes in the bedspread and the lamp looked a little dangerous with the light bulb tilted to the right. The continental breakfast was a joke. The packaged sweet rolls were still frozen but the milk was room temperature. It's a miracle that we made it out alive!!!
It was the cheapest available. Accommodations were adequate for price.
Internet service was poor.
Reservation/booking was accurate
Linens, bedding, doors to bathroom stuck and were difficult to close.
As soon as we walked in the smell was gross. Had to turn the air up to and fan on to help get rid of smell. The bathroom needed to be remodeled. The carpet needed to be replaced. I would rather go down the road a bit and paid twice as much to not have to stay in this place again. Don't ever stay in this place. NOT NOT worth it!
Hotel was clean and nice for the price. Has a nice indoor pool and hot tub. Room was clean.
The towels are more like kitchen dish towels. Recommend you bring a real towel.
Kids glad they had wifi
Unable to lock window; unable to turn shower knob, cold water only; stained towels; bed very hard and uncomfortable; room smelly; too expensive, have stayed in better places at less price
The Grandkids could not swim because the water was a green color ,didn't have a coffee maker, no iron, and no hair dryer. We had free breakfast but a big sign said don't take to room.
Price, cleanliness, pool, friendliness of staff, continental breakfast.
Getting old and a bit shabby.
No hot water in the morning. Checkout time is 11:00 am. Went out for breakfast at 8:30 and came back to find the cleaning staff in our room.
Firmness of the mattress
Stains on upholstered furniture. Mildew smell on the shower curtain. No coffee maker in the room. Two desk clerks speaking to each other in a foreign language upon checking in. Dearth of food in Continental Breakfast table.
Bathroom appeared clean. TV was large.
Furniture and bedding was dated. Room smelled damp and cleaning products were too perfumed. Window didn't open. Electrical switch plates were broken. Hotel seems to cater mostly to gas/oil employees (men) who probably don't care as much about the appearance.
Room was fine. Continental breakfast was very simple.
Slow to check in. Ice machine which was completely dry just broke.
The room did have a cold air conditioner. . The only good part of the room.
Room was dirty... bathroom/bathtub had mold in it. GROSS.... Got back to the room late after a soccer tournament (around midnight) room key would not work had to go get the attendant to reactivate the key. .. went back to the room to get into the room...still wouldn't work. Had to go back to the office to get the key fixed. The attendant had to walk down to the room... It's now 12:30 with kids and he is having to get us in the room. After about 10 mins he finally got us in. Would not recommend it at all.
False advertising of breakfast, was not even a good continental breakfast. Late opening.
The pictures on the internet are wrong. There is no couch in the room. The room was very old and worn out. Paint was coming off the walls, the bathroom was disgusting. Only 3 towels in the bathroom for a family of 4, and no extra towels were available. The smell was awful, I had to ask for room freshener spray just to tolerate the room. Carpet was old, worn out and nasty. Bed spreads had yellow stains on them. Breakfast included small packaged sweet rolls, rotten oranges and apples, two choices of dry cereal, milk, orange juice and coffee. The hot tub water was brown in color and smelled.
The pool was okay
The bathtub was dirty
Wefelt that the on line reservation system lied to us. There was no breakfast and that is why we booked this motel big disappointment
Pictures on the internet are deceiving - we walked from this place and didn't even ask for our money back.
The location was right on our route and the beds were comfortable. The room was clean.
No working ice machine. Room was in need of major updating. Breakfast was very skimpy--just two kinds of cold cereal, pastries in plastic and juice in a carton. Think there might have been some fruit out earlier.
Value. The gentleman behind the desk helped quite a lot with maps and places to eat.
Definitely needed to be updated. Our shower knob was very loose. I didn't feel 100% safe, but it was in an open area at least.
The bed was comfortable.
The carpet and desk chair were filthy. Oil field workers had tromped in with oily boots and jeans. The sheets were clean. Towels/wash cloths were clean. Only stayed one night to see Carlsbad Caverns. We all agreed it was the grungiest hotel we'd ever stayed in. Wouldn't do it again.
bugs and ants in the room
