The wifi was good and the location close to Carlsbad Caverns was good. The TV was also good.
Holes in the curtains, no stopper in the sink or tub, very limited breakfast, entry key that was totally white--no writing or instructions--no one in the office gave us instructions either, price was outlandish for what you got.
There was a room available
Didn't find pool
Location - close to caverns
Bath dirty, towels dirty, room old-fashioned, TV cabinet damaged, toilet flush made constant noise in night so had to close tap, similarly, fridge so noisy in night had to turn it off. Breakfast area and food DREADFUL! Choice of packet cakes or cereal with coffee, tea or sugary powdered orange juice. Will never stay again. No way a 3 star establishment!
Location for Carlsbad caverns
Old out dated rooms needs remodel
When I checked in, the man came to the desk in a Wife beater t-shirt & was not very friendly. The first night there was an ant in my bed.
clean tv is big
hard beds breakfast very disappointing
Neighbors were weekly stay and were quiet so we all got a good night's rest. Front desk staff very helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable, just not fancy. I'll take clean over fancy any day!
No coffee maker in room, but complimentary coffee available in office dining area
There where holes in the draperies brd spread and black mold stains in the tub shower
Everything from the awful service to the disgusting, unsanitary, and most importantly insect infested rooms!
It was extremely dirty. From the dirt on the ceiling fan to the mold in the bathtub to the filthy, carpet. It was a very uncomfortable icky feeling.
No hot water in AM for shower.
I liked that we got a suite and could open the doors between the rooms. The beds were firm but comfortable. It was quiet.
The breakfast was very poor. The swimming pool was nice but did not provide towels. There was supposed to be a playground but there was not one.
The indoor pool. The staff were helpful. Rooms reasonably clean
This is an old, relatively unimproved motel. It's good enough to stay at (not scary at all) but quite expensive for what you got. The "breakfast" was a joke.
Staff very friendly.
Ants in bathroom. Could not leave anything on counters while getting ready.
I liked nothing.
Very large indoor swimming pool but the surroundings of the pool look more like a vacant gym. Had a nice TV but reception was only fair.
Furniture was very old and outdated. One light switch controlled both the bathroom (tub/toilet area) as well as the outer area where the sink/mirror was. Paint was dingy looking. Free continental breakfast didn't offer much other than pre-packaged rolls & coffee. Appeared to be primarily oilfield workers staying there by the number of pickups in the parking lot. This is definitely not part of the Best Western chain so don't let the name "Great Western" fool you.
The pool was OK. In desperate need of painting, though.
Everything else. I can take budget hotels and everything that comes with them, but if the room is visibly dirty (areas not vacuumed for a long time), it's despicable. That, and the fact that the desk area (in the room) smelled like puke (last guest?). Horrible. The only reason place like that is still in business is the lack of mid-range hotels in Carlsbad. There are 3 being currently built, so I hope places like Great Western Inn will be history soon.
where to begin, flies in the room throughout the night, carpets that had not been cleaned, perhaps ever, and certainly not vacuumed before our stay, the front desk clerks that acted like they were doing you a favor, the 9 cans of Chicken noodle soup, expired since 2009, on top of the TV,
Carpet was completely disgusting. There was grim on the tile and mold in the bathtub. There were holes in the bedspread and the lamp looked a little dangerous with the light bulb tilted to the right. The continental breakfast was a joke. The packaged sweet rolls were still frozen but the milk was room temperature. It's a miracle that we made it out alive!!!
It was the cheapest available. Accommodations were adequate for price.
Internet service was poor.
Reservation/booking was accurate
Linens, bedding, doors to bathroom stuck and were difficult to close.
Bed, pool wasn't clean, too expensive for what it was, photos on internet were misleading.
As soon as we walked in the smell was gross. Had to turn the air up to and fan on to help get rid of smell. The bathroom needed to be remodeled. The carpet needed to be replaced. I would rather go down the road a bit and paid twice as much to not have to stay in this place again. Don't ever stay in this place. NOT NOT worth it!
Hotel was clean and nice for the price. Has a nice indoor pool and hot tub. Room was clean.
The towels are more like kitchen dish towels. Recommend you bring a real towel.
Kids glad they had wifi
Unable to lock window; unable to turn shower knob, cold water only; stained towels; bed very hard and uncomfortable; room smelly; too expensive, have stayed in better places at less price
