The receptionist Nicholas was very helpful
A lack of bathrooms
complimentary breakfast was good staff was helpful and they have plenty of initiatives and tips the location is ideal, close to the center and close to the bay
the street is a bit shabby (not unsafe, just a lot of clubs and strip clubs around) and if your room is facing the main street get a pair of ear plugs or you will be bothered by the music
Locattion Affordable price with good facilities
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Such a comfortable place to stay!
This is a great hostel. Staff is very helpful. Everything is clean and rooms are big. Évents every night to meet people. Big breakfast and dinning room with a big and fully equiped kitchen. Great breakfast. A good place to stay in SF !
Good location. Nice free breakfast and good wifi. Locker storage in rooms was good and power and light right beside beds was great.
Was already in a room of 8 then late at night someone else got put on our floor. Very noisy from other rooms and people in corridors at night, got woken multiple times including someone thumping on doors for almost an hour at 3am.
they have activities the area is good and safe, they make dinner every other day, the breakfast is good, there are bikes to rent, they have a couple of computers around, a really big common room, i definitely had a great time there and recommend other people to go there!
it's still a hostel, i mean you can't eat of the floor but it's clean and all.
The people at the reception are really nice, the rooms clean and the beds comfortable. I definitely recommend this Hostel!
It was pretty warm in the room
Comfortable stay, free breakfast! Love to stay again!
nice place to stay with free breakkfast, dinner and wlan. cozy place, great staff
Was more crowded that I thought it would be.
I was hesitant about staying in a hostel but I found the staff and other guests to be very friendly and engaging. There were free breakfasts in the morning and a couple times a week there is also free dinner. If you help cook dinner you get free beer! It seemed like the hostel staff had some kind of fun event planned every night (pub crawl, discounted restaurant dinners with the group), where people could mingle, which is great for solo travelers. I had a bunk bed in a dorm that slept 4 and everyone was very courteous.
The room was clean and comfortable. There were two flights of stairs and no elevator, but the staff helped me with my bag. Staff was helpful and friendly. Location is superb, although close to the strip clubs.
If you're looking for a place to make new friends with fellow travelers from all over the world, this is the place to do it. The social events that they hostel organizes are a lot of fun. The rooms are fairly nice and if you wear earplugs, the bars across the street aren't a problem. The guys at the front desk are awesome (especially Joe!).
Close to everthing. Breakfast provided everyday as well as dinner some nights. Staff were good (Nicolas was very helpful).
Clubs outside were quite loud to early morning in weekend.
The staff, the many activities organized (tours, dinners in and out of the hostel), the amazing vibe with all of those travelers you can meet in the big lounge, the breakfast (real orange juice, eggs, bagels, cereal) and the amazing decoration... Not just a place to sleep, but a home for travelers on the move managed by people with a heart fro nomads. Very diverse crowd (ages, origins, etc.). Large and safe storage space (for free) in the room.
Rooms a bit cramped, hairs on the toilet (they only seem to clean the parts most easily in reach). A bit far from Bart & Muni trains, but in charming North beach area. A bit expensive possibly (50 usd for a simple bunk-bed in August), but it's sf...
free self-service breakfast though it's very simple and basic. clean bathroom. very convenient location.
not enough bathrooms, need to wait in the morning. This is the only one of all the hotels and hostels I've stayed that I wake up constantly during the night because of the noise coming from the street that our room's window is right towards.
Well localized and has a good breakfast
The room lockers could be better
The location was very convenient to anywhere I planned to go for this trip. The janitor worked very hard. The person worked in the kitchen was nice.
The roommate I stayed with made lots of noise after midnight very night. And, she talked to herself during both day time and night time. I couldn’t get rests at day time and night time. I tried to switch the room but failed. I was forced to stay with her for 3 nights. That meant I couldn’t get any rest for 4 days.
The green tortoise was a welcome relief after staying at another horrible hostel in San Fran, changed our view of the city.nGreat location
Would like come back again
The hostel itself is colorful, has a great style and is filled with open-minded people! The private rooms in the extra building a block away from the actual hostel are great for couples - plus you still get all the advantages of the hostel while sleeping in a more quiet and private setting.
The only thing I can say here is DON'T COME WITH A CAR! Or if absolutely impossible do not park the car at the garage the hostel recommends!! These guys are absolutely unfriendly and unreliable and after two nights we got our rental back with a nice scratch and bump on the back bumper. They denied having anything to do with it and after a quick glance declared it an "old scratch".
Excellent price and location. A laundry is just what solo travelers need. Nice activities, good for meeting new friends. Hot water for tea, really important for a Chinese guy :-) Staff is helpful and really cares about safety (door locks at night, must show keys to get in)
Many bars nearby, good for nightlife but bad for sleeping.
With breakfast, and poor diner but it's ok since free...
I little expensive, if can be 10$ off would be fine but anyway it's San Francisco you can't purchase for more.
Free Sauna and Dinner.
