We loved the staff & the service was excellent. The hotel was also very clean. We also loved the convenience of Perry's Restaurant. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a corner room that overlooked the street, so it was a bit noisy during the night.
Décor and beds
Smoke alarm battery awoke us at 3 and 5 am on two mornings. The room was too tiny.
Just up from the Ferry Bldg and all the great eating places it is a quiet location particularly the rooms facing the inward light well. The restaurant is good with half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays
Unfortunately there was no bar fridge i the room
Nothing that stands out from other hotels.
Location was in financial district which is good when you are on business but on a leisure weekend nothing happens here. No convenience or easy food available. The room is very basic and small with no mini bar facilities. The window was frosted as there is no view. Outside the room was an ice machine which avalanches through the night and was noisy. For the price I would look around at other hotels
I had a very good stay. The room was in good working order. It was clean. The bed was comfortable, and the free WIFI was reasonably fast. It was very good for a business trip.
The room was small and quite dark. I didn't mind this, as I didn't have to stay in it all day. The hotel restaurant was okay but not great, and there wasn't a great area for hanging out in the lobby. You could sit, but it wasn't for doing work, getting coffee and hanging out or anything like that. All very manageable.
The write-up on Booking.com
The room was tiny and difficult for 2 adults to move around. The only window faced a wall, so we had no natural air circulation. Parking was a nightmare so we had to spend $50 for valet parking. The price for a room is way too high for such a disappointment. There are much better hotels to chose from.
Good bed, nothing else of note.
Bathroom was small, sink in bedroom, 1 metre squared light-well masquerading as a window with no ventilation in a tiny room is not acceptable for a $300 a night hotel. We booked for 3 nights and left after 1. However staff were accommodating as could be but could not find us an alternative room. PS - we found a lovely hotel near Union Square for 2/3 of the price with a window.
The Griffon is ideally positioned to explore San Francisco - close to boats, the Farmers' Market, the Exploratorium and the city. The hotel is informal, but everything runs smoothly and the staff are very helpful. While the rooms aren't large, it is just right to feel comfortable. We though it worked a treat as a base.
Stayed here for a week, the location is excellent if you want to be near Embercadero with a few minutes walk to the start of the pier and the Embarcadero BART station. Hotel was better than I expected for the rate, as it was the cheapest option I could find in this district, but service was very good and a rich number of amenities. WiFi (free) was very good, constant 50 mbps in my room.
Room smelled bad, didn't bother me too much.
Short walk from Embarcadero BART station.
Noise from bar downstairs at night.
My husband was running the SF Marathon and Hotel Griffon was perfect. I loved the cozy and comfortable rooms and the friendly staff.
The rooms are a bit small, but ur in SF!
Terrific staff. Operable windows that open.
Can hear guests walking in room above. Mattress soft.
Right from the moment we arrived, it was so nice to be treated like we were important guests, that mattered, that they were happy we chose to stay at their hotel, and by people who seemed to love their job! THAT makes a hotel worth going back to! Wish we could have stayed longer!
Parking fees and all the taxes but can't escape those
Excellent customer service, kind and caring employees, location is prime! They helped us in every way - stored our bikes, helped our service dog and even smiled every time we passed!
The staff was great. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfortable. The building itself is charming. We went for the marathon and the location is right at the start and finish of the race.... Perfect! We also enjoyed the comfort food at Perry's.
friendly staff made you welcome cleanliness boutique and stylish feel location it was FABULOUS would stay again
The location was close to the Oakland Bay Bridge with some decent restaurants nearby.
I joked with my husband on the elevator ride up that "it might be small, based on the reviews, but it can't be as small as our room in Paris! But as soon we opened the doors our jaws dropped. It was smaller than Paris & hardly had room for our bags. It was clean & the "bedroom" was updated but for the price I would have expected more out of the bathroom. We were only there a night so I wish we would have rented an apartment or stayed at an airport hotel. Bummer.
Husband n I not too happy with bed because it SLOPED to the middle. We kept bumping into each other during our precious sleep time. For the amount we spent on for this accommodation on a very RARE time always from kids
Super helpful staff. Julia, Victor all helped me check in quick, took my bag to the room, lined up a car to the airport for the morning and helped FedEx a box back to me the next day. Wish the property lived up to their service.
A wet, dirty mattress pad spread out on floor greeted me as I exited the elevator to my room. Damp, dirty drab corridors. Tiny room tries very hard. Bedding clean, bathroom clean - room FREEZING. Heater not working. Room has paper thin walls. Nasty mattress pad still there when I left.
can hear your neighbor walls seem thin
It was our 10 year anniversary and they surprised us with a bottle of champagne. Staff were excellent. Good value on Booking.com
Bathroom/bedroom was a little small but to be expected from a place in City. They laid out the room well to make it seem larger.
Location Staff was very helpful Restaurant
Business center out in the open. No privacy for conference calls, etc. Cozy;Small rooms.
Had beautiful bay view!
Small lobby so no extra space to enjoy a glass of wine or fireplace ambiance.
