I loved being so close to the pier and the farmer's market on the weekend! The hotel staff was very friendly. The rooms were small but comfortable enough for a solo traveler.
Met up with our adult kids. With everyone arriving at different times, this is a great location. Very quiet and peaceful. Yet, right in the middle of everything.
Hotel is dated Needs facelift
our room was small there was no street view from the only window
The staff was friendly & supportive the room service was good
We should have asked about parking, paid $45 to valet our car, not a complaint, we just didn't think about it in advance.
Very convenient location, nice walk to the ballpark & to Pier 39.
As soon as we arrived the staff was very attentative and courteous. Check in was a breeze. The room was clean and quaint. Unexpected turn down service definitely a plus. A perfect, no stress stay. I know where I'm staying next time I'm in San Francisco.
Rooms are tiny but we were only there to sleep and shower. Bed was comfortable!
We did lots of walking along Embarcadero and this hotel's location is perfect. Also a short walk from BART station.
I liked the really good Internet connection. I was using videoconferencing and it didn't stutter at all.
The location was great. You have a great view of the bay bridge. We slept good. Great place to stay in if you want to explore the city
Location is fantastic, very walkable area. We got upgraded to a room with a great view of the water and the Bay Bridge. Room was nice and quiet.
Our room didn't have a window. This wasn't really an issue as it meant the room was dark- handy for jet lag.
Free coffee, tea and fruit available all day. Grap some to go and eat breakfast sat on the pier by the amazing food market.
Staff was very nice and helpful. On the edge of the city near the Bay Bridge so you don't have to drive through the city to get there. Reasonable price and conveniently located by the Ferry Building, nice view of Bay Bridge, and although it's a bit of a walk one can walk to AT&T Park.
The front desk who check us is not so friendly and the night cleaning crew's are loud and I have ask them to be quite so I could sleep.
I like the fact that its clean and access to shopping and restaurants are great.
Nice decor, great view of the bay bridge and Ferry building, comfortable bed.
helpful staff, location
Noise from adjacent Lounge on Saturday night.
Working distance to Fishermans Wharf and Embarcadero.
We had a corner room that overlooked the street, so it was a bit noisy during the night.
We loved the staff & the service was excellent. The hotel was also very clean. We also loved the convenience of Perry's Restaurant. We would definitely stay there again.
Smoke alarm battery awoke us at 3 and 5 am on two mornings. The room was too tiny.
Décor and beds
Unfortunately there was no bar fridge i the room
Just up from the Ferry Bldg and all the great eating places it is a quiet location particularly the rooms facing the inward light well. The restaurant is good with half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays
Location was in financial district which is good when you are on business but on a leisure weekend nothing happens here. No convenience or easy food available. The room is very basic and small with no mini bar facilities. The window was frosted as there is no view. Outside the room was an ice machine which avalanches through the night and was noisy. For the price I would look around at other hotels
Nothing that stands out from other hotels.
The room was small and quite dark. I didn't mind this, as I didn't have to stay in it all day. The hotel restaurant was okay but not great, and there wasn't a great area for hanging out in the lobby. You could sit, but it wasn't for doing work, getting coffee and hanging out or anything like that. All very manageable.
I had a very good stay. The room was in good working order. It was clean. The bed was comfortable, and the free WIFI was reasonably fast. It was very good for a business trip.
The room was tiny and difficult for 2 adults to move around. The only window faced a wall, so we had no natural air circulation. Parking was a nightmare so we had to spend $50 for valet parking. The price for a room is way too high for such a disappointment. There are much better hotels to chose from.
The write-up on Booking.com
Bathroom was small, sink in bedroom, 1 metre squared light-well masquerading as a window with no ventilation in a tiny room is not acceptable for a $300 a night hotel. We booked for 3 nights and left after 1. However staff were accommodating as could be but could not find us an alternative room. PS - we found a lovely hotel near Union Square for 2/3 of the price with a window.
Good bed, nothing else of note.
The Griffon is ideally positioned to explore San Francisco - close to boats, the Farmers' Market, the Exploratorium and the city. The hotel is informal, but everything runs smoothly and the staff are very helpful. While the rooms aren't large, it is just right to feel comfortable. We though it worked a treat as a base.
