The house is very good, comfortable and clean.
The owner never shows up. They cannot provide official receipt. Noooo reply. Helpless. Always at a loss ..... For business travellers, please make sure the vacation house owner can provide receipt in advance. I still have not received my receipt after 3 weeks. Booking.com is out of control of the vacation house owner. This worries me the most!
We were perfectly situated, close to Central Park & the museums. The price for such a location is more than fair.
We weren't able to use the shower, and no solution was offered. The place is noisy (pipes are noisy).
Bed wasn't bad.
To start us off, We were charged 50$ for being late on check in, which I understood because as it states in the fine print: "If guests expect to arrive outside front desk hours, they should inform the hotel in advance. Additional fees may apply." The thing that bothered me, is that there is no "front desk." There is no concierge or any sort of formal greeting. There will be a gentleman who sits in the room when you tell them you're going to arrive waiting there with the keys. This is far from a hotel experience so they shouldn't try to behave like one. There are also no "front desk" hours, so its whenever they feel is too late. Our first night sleep wasn't that bad. We arrived, dropped off our luggage, then fell asleep. In the morning when we woke up we decided to take showers to get ready to enjoy our first day on vacation. Unfortunately there was no hot water whatsoever so we had to take painfully cold showers to start our day. As for location, the apartment is fairly far from any subways, and anyone in New-York will inform you that the busses are far from adequate transportation. After our first day we came home tired and were ready to fall asleep, and we were fortunate enough the day was nice. This brings me to another painful issue, the AC unit for the house is a window unit that has two fans that literally blow the outside air into the building. Under the AC unit in the window there is a stairway into another part of the building. Around 11PM, someone decided to spend there night under that stairwell chain smoking cigarettes. We shouted out of the window for him/her to stop and had no response. So I took a gander at the air unit, and decided it was too complicated to remove the unit to actually close the window, so we just sucked it up and attempted to sleep through it, hoping it was a one night thing, but we were wrong. This happened night after night, all around the same time.
We were well received, the comfort and the area were very good such as everything was near the house. The house was clean and the neighborood was excellent.
The price. At the first moment it seemd one price, but after, with all the taxes, it became expensive, and we know that we can find hotels for the same price, but with breakfest in this area.
The location was fantastic. Very close to the Guggenheim museum and other museums in NYC. Lots of restaurants closeby. This is an upscale and friendly part of NYC that we have never visited. The host's assistant called us ahead of time to confirm our arrival and he met us with the keys and showed us around. The flat was clean and well presented. We felt like we were home and part of NYC.
It was a large apartment with a separate bedroom downstairs and very quiet. It was on the ground floor so no lugging bags up and down stairs. Although there is an elevator. Location was fantastic.
I was told to intimate I was a friend of the owner if I encountered other residents. This made me very uncomfortable and I felt I had to slink in and out unnoticed. A mouse ran across the floor on my last night. Luckily I am not freaked out by that, but I know a lot of women would be on the table screaming. The owner has been advised and is getting exterminators but the garbage enclosure is next to this apartment so I don't think it will make a lot,of difference. I had emailed the owner at least a week prior to my check in, but it was only on the last day I found out where I was staying. Luckily I was in LA and not flying in direct from Australia. Otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue where to go.
The staff was very accommodating and even provided an airport pickup for a very low rate. Check in was smooth as our driver had our keys! It is a private apartment and not a hotel but it was much cheaper than a hotel so a great deal.
We would return again. Did not experience any problems here. Excellent service. Very much appreciated.
We loved the apartment as it was located in an upscale neighborhood. There was a lovely park nearby which we jogged every morning and now we miss our new "home".
Its a good location, 10-15 mins to Central Park. It is close to the metro. It has a comfortable bed.
I felt that as I was charged $85+taxes for a cleaning fee, the place would be spotless or professionally clean, it was not. After we left, we left 2 used towels and used bed sheets, not $85 worth of cleaning. I felt that due to the above, it was poor value for money, a hotel would have been a similar price and would come with cleaning included and someone to help with any queries. We were also told to say we were friends of the owners to any neighbors we spoke to, I'm not a fan of having to lie to avoid something they should be paying, another reason I wished I had booked a hotel.
Good location - bus stop just round the corner. Fully equipped kitchen.
Problem with heating was mitigated by providing a small electric heater but hot water was a big issue. Paying on arrival would not be such a problem but we were asked to pay in cash, which caused us a trouble. Noise from the house corridor was quite big and we could clearly notice everyone leaving or entering the house.
would have preferred a unit not facing the street. Too much noise. Last morning there was no hot water for a shower.
- Good neigbourhood. The apartment was just big enough for four (but only two chairs). Wifi was ok. Apartment is on the ground floor (silent street). -Good balance price-quality.
Our mails didn't got an answer. We got our (mail)instructions for the arrival too late (less than 14 hours before arrival), so we missed it. Check-in time must be at the exact time : we arrived one hour later (because of traffic) and the person who waited for us was already gone. A neighbour gave as the keys but we didn't know which appartment. Luckily , someone was so kind to call the owner and to ask for it because our phone could'nt connect the network. There was no contact at all with the landlady (for check-out : we had to leave the keys behind ). Back home I sent a mail to ask if everything was left ok. Now, three weeks later, it's still not answered.
Appartment is nice and well connected via bus to public transportation. We had a fully equipped kitchen (although there could be a third or fourth chair for the table) and used it for breakfast and sometimes dinner. NY is great, btw.
After contacting the landlord shortly before going to NY we were informed that the appartment might not be ready and we might have to take another one. When arriving in NY we had some trouble to contact the landlord, finally got sent to the original appartment and had to wait (at 5 pm) for approx. 1.5 h until the appartment was ready. It wasn't the most relaxing start to the visit...
The location was fantastic. We were one block away from NYC Mayor's mansion. It's an upscale neighborhood. The host was great and so was her assistant. We are looking forward to visiting NYC and staying here again.
We have no complaints!
