Sandy and staff were the epitome of what a bed & breakfast, or any place that accommodates travelers should be- caring, friendly, and helpful. Can't recommend it enough.
The Haiku Plantation Inn is close to everything (beach, Paia, airport) but still has a country feel. Sandy loaned us beach chairs and beach towels, which made our beach time more enjoyable. The old house is gorgeous and we enjoyed talking with the other guests.
It was uncharacteristically hot while we were there, so the house was hot during the day and evening. Ceiling fans in the rooms cooled them down at night, so we were good there.
Well maintained, beautiful colonial house with great atmosphere. For those who like something different to big hotels.
The house is lovingly furnished and you definitely don't feel like staying at a hotel. The breakfast was ok.
It is constantly raining in Haiku (admittedly this is no one's fault, but we did not expect the weather to be this bad - apparently it always is). The windows could not be opened in the rooms. And it was constantly stuffy and humid. We could only pay with cash. Breakfast is only until 9:30, and we were woken up every day shortly after 8 by the loud sound of people making and eating breakfast since the room was next to the kitchen. There is absolutely nothing in the neighborhood, Haiku itself is completely forgettable, and Paia is a 10 minute drive away. The bed was full of weird black seeds of some sort, which were falling from the ceiling. The price is completely ridiculous for this room.
A beautiful and quiet place. Exhuberant vegetation. Very nice!
I liked the old plantation style house, the décor, the staff, Sandy the manager, the beautiful grounds and friendly guests. Quiet, relaxing location but close to Haiku restaurants and facilities, not too far to Hookipa Lookout and Paia and great place to stay to visit the beautiful upcountry. Thanks for a great visit!
Nothing, I'd like to visit again!
Relaxed, low-key homestay atmosphere. Short 100m walk to small Haiku village center (a few good small restaurants; we enjoyed the new Japanese one and Thai noodle truck in market parking lot.) 5-10min drive to charming Paia town center + beach, which is wonderfully local, a bit of surfer/hippy/artsy charm. (unlike large tourist traps on other parts of Maui)
Privacy is more limited than a hotel, as this is a normal beautiful old house. (ie B&B feel)
We were given an excellent bed in a beautiful room with our own private toilet and shower. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Sandy was a wonderful host. She provided us with local history and helpful information as well as beach towels, beach chairs and maps. Haiku is one of the more remote locations on Maui, that's why we chose it. The day before we left a storm took out the internet service. When everything was up and running again Sandy helped up to check-in with our airline and printd our boarding passes. No long line-up for us. Everything went very smoothly.
A great old plantation house set in a beautiful garden. It's 5 minutes from Paia and the Hana Highway, and on the way to Haleakala. Sandy, the proprietor, is wonderful. Green and quiet, and a way nicer setting than the hustle of West Maui.
Homey, personal touch. Suggestions and questions answered.
Plenty of space, great location.
Great house. Very nice owner. Great location. Very comfortable bedroom. Great nostalgia.
Breakfast was nothing special. Too much sweetbreads. Not enough variety. Bathroom needs better cleaning. Booking.com got the address wrong.
Location. Character of the house. Quiet.
Dark room. Room we stayed in needed better cleaning.
We really like the cozy setting of the Inn, and our host Sandy put up great effort to offer us a homey environment and we had nice chat with her and other guests at the same time on our recent visit. Very nice experience and the breakfast was well prepared too.
Quiet location but still within easy access to everywhere we wanted to go! Great fellow travelers to visit with. The history of the home and area.
Had to make own coffee in very early mornings to get off for early excursions. Hot tub not on.
Location location location. The inn is in Haiku at the beginning of the road to Haleakala (the same named bike company is down the street) and the road to Hana. Great place to center for both of those and far from the touristy west Maui resorts.
The government of Maui doesn't allow B&B's to serve a hot breakfast because that would compete with hotels. But Sandy compensates with sweet breads and fruits as well as cereals.
What's not to like..Soon as you walk into Haiku Inn you feel welcome.A beautifully decorated home full of collected treasures, wonderful gardens of lush plants and majestic trees , lovely breakfast and plenty of areas to sit and relax.Only a 10 minute drive to Paia, for great shopping and beautiful food.Easy access for daily adventures including bicycling ,snorkelling or relaxing at the beach.Nothing was too much trouble and they even served tea in a tea pot! I didn't want to leave.and look forward to returning to I my Maui home.Brad and Liz Lowe.Mittagong, Australia
I liked everything. The little bar fridge could be a bit bigger but that didn't affect our stay
