They knew the area and were very good at giving us advice on things we wanted to do. I liked having snorkle, masks and buggy boards available.
Location, breakfasts, great hosts.
It was just great to stay with Kirby and Toby. The Bed&Breakfast lies outside Hanalei in a really quite environment. As a homebase for trips along the Na Pali coast it is perfect. Especially after such a delicious breakfast. From the B&B you can rent the usual beach gear to enjoy a wonderful day at the beach.
Very quiet, tranquil place. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Everything you need is here, including all amenities, information and advice.
Staff was nice, property was close to beaches, breakfast was delicious.
The only thing that was a drawback: only one restaurant ($$) in walking distance.
cleanliness in paradise great hosts, convienent peaceful and (mostly) quiet close to adventure and fun wonderful breakfasts
not much to speak of
Kirby and Toby are excellent hosts. Beautiful table setting for Toby's delicious breakfasts.
- very nice welcome from Kirby and Toby - Great room with balcony and very nice prepared - Close walk to the beach and short drive to the hiking area
Location Room and kitchen Parking Fresh fruit at breakfast Wife's cheery disposition
No meat offered with breakfast. Fancy fruit plate with plain waffle one day and 2 eggs the next. Awful weak "coffee", served with 2 % milk (no cream available) Husband was rude and made extremely strange, derogatory comments about President and Michelle Obama at breakfast. His comments lead me to beieve he was both racist and hateful of gay people. If these comments had been made to me by a stranger at a bar, I would have walked away much less at a place I am paying $250 a night to stay at. Eye contact with the rest of the guests at the table suggested they were extremely uncomfortable too. Breakfast was served on a tacky teak table both days that reeked of Teak oil. I saw the oil being applied the day I arrived. It was still in puddles the next two days. Teak oil is toxic BTW and gave me and my partner a headache.
The innkeepers, Kirby and Toby, are wonderful and welcoming. My mother and I were there to celebrate mom's 91st birthday. Kirby, a master lei maker, made a lei for mom, which she proudly wore to her birthday dinner at The Gourmet Mediterranean Restaurant near the B&B. Delicious food. The rooms are wonderfully equipped and appointed. There's no a/c but lots of fans. Beds and pillows super comfortable. Each room has gorgeous view of the mountains. You can enjoy the beautiful night sky sitting on your private lanai (balcony). Toby whips up scrumptious full breakfasts with servings large enough to get you through the day. I particularly enjoyed his pancakes. Definitely one of the better B&B breakfast offerings I've had. He offers variety, choice, and taste. Plus he makes great coffee. They provide a full kitchen for guests to use. You can store supplies in the full sized fridge/freezer. If trying to save money by not eating out, having the option to make your own lunch and dinner is wonderful. The house is on stilts, incase of flooding, so I was extremely happy they had an elevator, as was my 91 year old mother. Gorgeous decoration in the elevator. There's even a beautiful Macaw parrot "Pretty Girl" who greats you upon arrival along with Toby. Kirby and Toby are easy going and made us feel like "ohana" (family). I would definitely stay here again and certainly hope to in the future.
We were in the Mango room which got the late afternoon sun. Even with curtains closed and fans going it was very hot for several hours. Next time I'll ask for room on other side of house. Otherwise, there was NOTHING to NOT like. All was wonderful. Mahalo nui loa Kirby.
Beatutiful rooms and well appointed, friendly and welcoming hosts. Lovely area, close to the coast.
having to drive into Hanalei every evening for a meal
This B&B is a gem on the north side of Kauai. Located near tourist 'stuff' and beaches galore, is ideal! Toby and Kirby have a wealth of Hawaiian knowledge as well as steering you to fun activities. The home is very warm and inviting; maps, tour books, restaurants and activity brochures available for view! Public computer available to use for boarding passes and any other computer needs. Would recommend to anyone....Aloha!
As everyone says Toby and Kirby great hosts. Mediterranean Gourmet great
One lane bridges to get there.
Beautiful home was well furnishsed. Bedrooms and common room all lovely with decks. Great breakfast and access to kitchen. We were made to feel very comfortable.
Our room was on west side so got warm in afternoon.
Very familiar and personal atmosphere, Kirbi's advices what to see in Kauai and Tobi's breakfast.
make it your home. great enviroment and hosts. no cleaning while your stay, but still lovely rooms. Quiet, close to Kalalau trail and 10 min from Hanalei.
The property is very nice and in a good location. Our room was large, very nicely decorated and with a good powder room/bathroom/shower. Toby and Kirby make you feel at home from the word go. Nice place with nice people.
Beautiful location with great views of the mountains. Very close to the Na Pali Coast. Delicious, hearty breakfasts! Enjoyable experience overall!
Proximity to the Kalalau Trail, Ke'e and Tunnels! Homemade breakfast! Peek-a-boo ocean view from the Pineapple Suite!
You have to white knuckle it a bit on the drive out - hanging on edge of the road out over ocean, multiple one lane bridges, etc. - but it's pretty, and the nice thing is you can beat 85%+ of the rest of the island out to sights at the end of the road. Worth it!
Aloha! :) We stayed for a couple nights in February and we liked everything about this terrific B&B - from location, to cleanliness, to comfort, and let's not forget about breakfast and the hot tub! :) There's a beautiful parrot that also greets you upon arrival - though not vey friendly, lol, still gorgeous to look at and take pics of. :) The bed was sooooo comfy (we stayed in the Mango room) and the location and view from our lanai were stunning. We ate some delicious local fruit at breakfast, that we had never tried before...yummy! :) We'd definitely stay here again in future. :) Mahalo!
The only thing that seemed to be a bit of an issue was the wifi connection. We didn't really have a huge need for it, but it did pose some issue when trying to communicate with our kids. It may possibly been the weather (as there was some heavy rain/flashfloods going on during the week we were there).
Kirby &Toby have though of everything you need the best B&B we have ever stayed in
We had to go home
The wife was very nice and helpful.. Nice rooms and location
Toby was not a very friendly person. Say hello in the morning and wouldn't acknowledge you.
Anything you could possibly want or need for your stay in Kauai was available - or Kirby and Toby could direct you to the best place to get it. A short walk - 150 feet - and you are at a gorgeous beach that is practically your own. Very relaxing, safe and home-like B&B. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here for travelers of all ages.
Everything! This place was a real winner, especially if you like to cook sometimes while on holiday - they have a huge stocked cupboard of spices, condiments, all sorts of things. Toby and Kirby have thought of everything - from coolers to real hair conditioner, everything. They're perfect!!
Liked the house but felt it could do with a bit more care.
The owners husband. Rude at breakfast
