Fair price for a very spacious family suit
Facilities outdoor are not kept very clean (spider webs are quite common).
Cleanliness. Would suggest housekeeping.
Extremely spacious bedroom and living room. Huge shared kitchen, although we didn't use it.
Owner was nice, but talked at length about his Buddhist temple in China.
I enjoyed the seclusion, lg common kitchen & living area + exploring the surrounding acreage. Our room was clean & spacious. Everyone we encountered was friendly.
Halemalu has a perfect atmosphere, the location is excellent. The owner, Eric has a very special open-minded approach, he is an amazing host. Guests have everything they need for a pleasant stay: the kitchen has all facilities, common areas for networking and also for relaxing, you can pick any fruit from the garden free and guests can also share food they do not need - instead of throw them into the trash. This hotel "policy" and idea of saving food is very unique in this money-oriented world. We asked for ocean-view and it was fulfilled. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms are large - providing enough space for bags and all stuff. This place is just simple perfect.
clean and a good price
very isolated location. didn't feel safe.
Great owner, accomodation...almost everything! :)
The location...in the middle of nowhere.
Wifi worked greatly throughout our 5 day stay, owner is really nice, free parking, big suites, fairly priced
Kitchen could be cleaner
The price! Very nice place to stay. I liked the rural location and the country feel. I got into the common cooking space and TV watching area. No TVs in rooms, Yah. Rooms are very large with living room. Bed was very good. Free internet connection.
The exterior is very basic and may scare off some folks, but inside very comfortable. Difficult to find at night and a distance from downtown K Kona. If you have an early morning excursion North of K Kona allow an additional 30 minutes for traffic to get through town Internet is slow, 1.5 mbs max
so much room fruits of the garden
This property worked for us as we are moving to Hawai'i. Spacious, Eric is very friendly. Laid back and great people staying at the aamw tine. Kitchen is awesome.
Property needs a good scrubbing.
Good and quiet location up the hill, where it is also a little cooler. Several restaurants and a grocery store are close (5 minute drive). Shared kitchen well equipped.
The shared parts of the house (including the shared kitchen) need cleaning more frequently. Also the private lanai should be cleaned occasionally.
Location is good and high on the elevation therefore without air-conditioning we were fine.
The rooms and bedsheets were not clean. Too many flies in kitchen. Our room has no view at all.
Good facilities and location but a bit hostel-like. Eric was very obliging but it is really too much for one person to do a super job.
smell of mould and dirt round the edges.
Huge suites (2BR, living room), very quiet. Friendly owner. Kitchen to share.
A bit dated.
Very friendly! Large living area and ability to cook on sight. Loved our stay here.
Spacious rooms. Homey atmosphere. areas and laundry. Helpful manager.
2nd bedroom had a fold out futon rather than a bed, but the manager was very helpful in offering and providing a solution.
We loved the red phone that connected you to all your needs. You need a car to reach the accommodation. It is so far removed from a beach resort.
The sliding glass door to the balcony, with a screen door to allow great airflow. Great view of tropical fruit orchards and the ocean in one direction (from the bedrooms and balcony) and mountains in another. The property has a tropical fruit orchard. Picking our own fresh fruit was fun, healthful and delicious. There is a large, well appointed community kitchen and dining, plus private refrigerator and dining in each room. Available for guests to borrow are ice chests, snorkeling equipment and folding chairs.
Loved the communal kitchen and living room areas. Appreciated two fridges and the idea of leaving food items for others to share. Owner was very friendly.
Rooms were very damp and smelled of mildew. No fan in the bathroom only made this worse following a shower. Internet TV did not stream Netflix well, which was a bummer when trying to use the communal space. No coffee?!!
Private hostel. The owner is very friendly and introduce his house to everybody lived in. It is like a home and not expensive comparing to other hotels in that location. Highly recommended.
The place is hard to find. Road is unpaved and the driver needs to be very careful especially at night.
The facility and amenities
Very hard to find; when get to final road does not appear correct; asked residents, no clue.
1. The quiet location, within an easy drive to our favourite snorkel spot. 2. the welcoming, helpful and generous approach by the owner, Eric. 3. Spacious suites and very comfortable bed. 4.large, well-equipped common kitchen. 5. laundry facilities. 6. Reasonably priced. 7. potential for a future family vacation.
