I'd stayed for a week for a UN meeting. The location is great. It's between UN building and Grand Central station. The room is comfortable but small, great if you stay alone. Breakfast is continental style but choices are great, changing everyday. This is another nice touch of the hotel. A front desk gal, Alexis, on my check-in day was very friendly and service-oriented. She was always helpful throughout my stay.
A front desk guy on my check-out day was not friendly and helpful at all.
Beds is too small.I booked two queen size beds, but the beds are not big enough.
We were a group of 7 travelers and all of us had a terrible experience. We were charged a rate through booking.com which we found out was much, much higher than the hotel rate. The hotel is not clean, the wi-fi did not work for over a week, and we felt completely ripped off. Hampton Inns are known for their quality guarantee...we will be taking our experience at this location up with management. If you do decide to book this dirty hotel, then you might want to call and check rates just to make sure you don't get ripped off like we did.
NO WI-FI!!!! every morning we asked when it would be back and we kept being told "soon." Because we were a large group travelling from abroad we've incurred thousands of dollars in roaming fees. Seems strange that a hotel right by the UN wouldn't have another solution! The rooms are small and noisy. The breakfast is greasy and sugary. There are MUCH better hotels for the price (doubletree is where our colleagues stayed and they had a great experience)
location was okay. Staff were pretty nice despite the hotel being dirty and with shoddy wi-fi.
I am not usually one to complain but this place deserves it!! It is really overpriced, dirty and has the shoddiest wi-fi I've ever experienced! There was no wi-fi for an entire week!! One night (in Dec!) the heat didn't work. Another night, they didn't clean our room, despite us reminding them (they claimed there was a miscommunication with cleaners). The rooms are tiny (okay, that's just NYC), the breakfast is disgusting and dirty, and runs out of food really quickly. I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend this hotel.
Proximity to Grand Central Station, clean, updated rooms and friendliness of the staff make this hotel a great value.
No closet in a king room, just a very small armoire The walls between rooms must be very thin as we could hear everything from the rooms on each side of us.
The comfort of my room. It was quiet, and the bed was wonderful.
On the day of departure, I asked about getting a cab to take me to Penn station. I was told that they frequently came by and I wouldn't have any problems. Well it was a Sunday morning and I waited for nearly 20 min and finally gave and, walked to Grand Central with my luggage in tow and took the subway to Penn station, which I didn't enjoy. Also, there aren't many restaurants nearby, except for fast food and take out.
It was not possible to leave luggage for a few days we travelled to another town.
The location is very handy for Grand Central station and its subway. It's also within walking distance to Times Square and the Empire State. The rooms were extremely comfortable.
It would be nice to have breakfast on real plates with proper knives and forks, although paper plates and cutlery seem to be common in NYC. It took a while for the milk, bread etc. to replenished on the weekend.
The room is nice and the bed is very comfortable. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is a plus. I had a very low LTE signal in the room but the free Wi-fi was fast so no complains.
There was no doorman.
The front desk staff (Jocelyn, Alexia, Estefany, Eddie etc.) are very kind and helpful. Near to Grand Central station which makes use of subway very convenient. Business centre always has free computers.
Too much air-conditioning even when the season was no longer warm. Breakfast is nice, but even better if it could be made of organic ingredients. I was missing gluten-free items in addition to oatmeal porridge. Very unfortunate that luggage cannot be kept during short travel out of NYC,
The location was absolutely incredible, so close to everything and just a few block from grand central terminal. The staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean!
I felt the price was a little much for the small space. Two nights (Tuesday and Wednesday) cost over $1000.
The rooms are too small.
With only a 5 minute walk to Grand Central, you can't beat it. The Hilton remodel is always clean and inviting. Parking was close and simple.
I found out upon check in that oversized vehicles cost $41/day and not the $28 listed in the review. Still, this is fairly cheap for New York.
Great value for NYC Excellent location, easy to get everywhere Friendly staff Right next to an Avis which made our next stage of the trip a doddle!
Breakfast a bit too sugar-y for our tastes... some fresh fruit or savoury options would have been appreciated
The best thing about the hotel is the location close to the UN. It's also surprisingly quiet and I appreciated that both breakfast and WiFi were included in the room rate. Staff at the front desk and the breakfast room were very friendly and helpful. The room was small, but adequate, and clean, with a comfortable bed.
Being close to the UN, and coming at the height of the UN season, the opening of the general debate, meant the room was ridiculously overpriced. I've stayed in 5 star suites for less.
Room very small no room for luggage
Location Room set up lots of power outlets Good beds Staff
Location is good, away from main hustle & bustle but close enough to walk. Beds are comfortable. Staff are very friendly & helpful.
Breakfast is awful. No real choice. No fresh fruit. Not even English Breakfast tea just Earl Grey. Rooms very small, but you get what you pay for and it's a major city! No tea in the room, only coffee.
Location and services
Cost of accomodation and the seasonal variation.
Myself and two friends stayed here for a short stay in NYC. It was reasonably priced so we didn't expect much. It exceeded our expectations. One of my friends has been to New York and stayed quite a few high end hotels and she said she was impressed by the price and quality. Rooms are good size and clean. Breakfast was about average for complimentary but had some great different options like a egg and bacon toasted bagel. It's also quiet and easily accessible to grand central.
I was in Hampton hotel in Tunkhnook PV and used to get water for free from reception, in Manhattan united nation they refused to give water , I was upset
The hotel is very clean, close to the metro station, car rental and shops. Excellent staff, especially at the reception they are all kind and helpful always with good ideas to find best addresses in NY. We will definitely return to this hotel for our next visit to NY.
- Limited number of wi-fi connections for free - The room was a bit small
too expensive limited space
